A-Rod gets a day to rest his legs
Joe Girardi was quick to say to that there’s nothing particularly wrong with Alex Rodriguez – and A-Rod was quick to say the same, downplaying any suggestion that his oblique injury might still be nagging him – but Girardi still wanted to give Rodriguez a day off today so his third baseman could get his legs some rest.
“He’s played seven days in a row,” Girardi said. “Is he getting away from using his legs a little? Maybe.”
Although A-Rod has reached base in 18 of his 20 games, he’s just 3-for-21 on this homestand. When asked about sitting today, he said, “I’ll take a day off and just get some rest” before adding later that, “for hitting, I think the legs are the most important thing.” When a player’s legs are fatigued, Rodriguez explained, he’s more more apt to jump at the pitch more.
Girardi is hoping a game off will help re-charge Rodriguez, and he’s expected back in the lineup tomorrow. A-Rod did say he’ll be available to pinch-hit today, if needed.

They are 5 games over .500 .
Most baseball fans, these days , have football mentalities.
They think of home and away schedules instead of pitching staffs.
I worry that 80% of our pitching staff is iffy.

The pitching staff is a concern hopefully Colon and Freddy can hold the fort down until the trade deadline

if they were 9-14 there would be screams of fire Cashman

the same ones who are lauding him for the brilliant pickups would kill him

Yes the what have you done for me lately crowd
I’m getting tired of all the complaints about Jeter. I really am.
Did he struggle last year for part of the year? Yes he did. Has he lost a little speed on his swing? Yes, he has.
But do you all forget the progress he showed with the adjustments last year? Did you forget the past many, many years when Derek Jeter showed us time and time again that he is a fierce competitor and that he can break out of slumps. I’m just tired of how quickly a fanbase can turn on a player like Jeter. Remember when David Ortiz looked like he was finished? And all the Red Sox fanbase jumped ship? He turned his year around and put up some decent numbers.
Jeter is going to rebound. He’s too competitive not too. There are still ways to speed up his bat and make adjustments and even though it’s not easy to do, he’s going to do it. He’s Derek Jeter, damnit. He’s been so good for so long and he’s not going to give up no matter how many of his fans have given up on him.

Then what? It’s still a crapshoot.

Trade for a starter, maybe get one off the scarp heap, maybe one of the kids on the farm come up, etc. I know that won’t calm your concerns but that’s all the can hope for. Andy retired and Lee didn’t come here so it put them in this position.
give his legs a rest?
Dumb.
these players are young professional athletes.
and it’s only April…
it’s not the legs.

the yankees will never move jeter in the lineup
=========================================
Idon’t see why not–They’ve already done it twice this year…
Stark said Colon threw 30 pitches at 94 or above in his last start. That’s pretty amazing. He also the scouts allnsay he will breakdown. I will enjoy it for as long as it lasts while hoping it is all season.
If Colon and Garcia can get this thing to August the Yankees will be fine. Under the assumption that Cashman is going to have an above avg starting pitcher added to the rotation by then.
Yankees are not going to trade for a SP off the scrap heap. They already have Garcia, Colon, Millwood and Silva.

Why not give Alex a day off? He’s older and his injury may be lingering.
