Question: Is there a better CFer in the AL right now than CG? (Not sure if Josh H is LFer or CFer)

  2. ericns1 May 7th, 2011 at 5:10 pm

Right now CG is the best.

  3. BoJo May 7th, 2011 at 5:19 pm

I think Tex and Cano should have good nights tonight.

  4. BoJo May 7th, 2011 at 5:20 pm

Tex should be able to go yard on this guy.

  5. Bo knows May 7th, 2011 at 5:26 pm

Tex should be able to go yard on this guy.

He’s swinging from the heels again. So more likely it’ll be two rollovers, a pop up and a SO.
He has such a beautiful opposite field short stroke that it’s a bloody sin that he sits at 240 going for the mash. Stats, you know.

  6. Bo knows May 7th, 2011 at 5:31 pm

Yesterday Teix was three rollovers and a pop up. Today is a new day, new approach?

  7. J. Alfred Prufrock May 7th, 2011 at 5:33 pm

Hamilton’s out so he’s disqualified for the moment. Curtis FTW!

  8. GreenBeret7 May 7th, 2011 at 5:41 pm

Not everybody that swings to hit the ball hard is automatically “swinging from the heels”.

  9. Bo knows May 7th, 2011 at 5:50 pm

If he staggers on the follow through I think that would qualify. Seventh inning at bat yesterday. I’m a big devotee of controlled swings.

  10. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 5:50 pm

verlander perfect through 6 vs. jays

  11. Tom in N.J. May 7th, 2011 at 5:52 pm

Brewers’ Gallardo no-hitting Cards in 7th

  12. GreenBeret7 May 7th, 2011 at 5:53 pm

I guess that must mean that Cano is swinging from the heels, too. He’s struck out and hit into as many DPs as Teixeira.

  13. Bo knows May 7th, 2011 at 5:57 pm

Really, comparing Cano’s swing to Teix’s. What is this, comedic content?

  15. Tom in N.J. May 7th, 2011 at 5:58 pm

No Nelson Cruz tonight. He was placed on the disabled list with a strained right quad.

  16. Nick in SF May 7th, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Bartolo Colon has yet to surrender a hit in Texas. It’s contagious.

“Swinging from the heels” is a Bs, tiresome cliche used by people that don’t know what they’re talking about. it’s as overused as saying 1st and 2nd year players are “great”.

  18. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:03 pm

big v bringing it, hitting 100/101 regularly in the 7th inning. 82 pitches and still perfect through 7

All right, you got me. I don’t know what I’m talking about.

  20. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:09 pm

descelso singles off gallardo to end his bid to start the 8th.

  21. JobaTipsHisCap May 7th, 2011 at 6:10 pm

    Swish protects cano?

  22. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:13 pm

bautista is not in the jay’s lineup and they took lind out so verlander gets mccoy, arenciabia and encarnacion in the 8th. mccoy lines out 7.1 perfect

  23. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:18 pm

arancibia with a tough at bat draws a walk and the perfecto is gone. V still hitting 100

  24. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:20 pm

6-4-3 on the next pitch to end the inning. no no through 8 for verlander

  25. Nick in SF May 7th, 2011 at 6:40 pm

At last, Verlander reaches the 9th.

  26. Nick in SF May 7th, 2011 at 6:41 pm

    Maximum tension reached.

  27. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:44 pm

Verlander just unhittalbe today and brings home his second no no vs. the weakend jays lineup with ease…extremely impressive and probably not his last no no.

  28. Nick in SF May 7th, 2011 at 6:44 pm

    History!

  29. West Coast Yankee Fan May 7th, 2011 at 6:45 pm

That is what an ace looks like.

  30. Laura - I Bleed Blue May 7th, 2011 at 6:46 pm

These no hitters are starting to grow on trees. Pretty soon, they won’t be such a big deal.

  31. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:47 pm

i tuned in during the 6th inning and he looked then like nobody was gonna hit him all day, then he started hitting triple digits the next inning, just dominating! he looked like he could go 3 or 4 mor innings and not give up a hit!

  32. West Coast Yankee Fan May 7th, 2011 at 6:48 pm

That’s two. Makes what Nolan did so remarkable.

  33. YsGuy May 7th, 2011 at 6:48 pm

there’s a big difference between a sanchez/leiter type 6 or 7 walk no no and what verlander did today.

  34. GreenBeret7 May 7th, 2011 at 6:51 pm

Virgil Trucks and Johnny Vander Meer had two in one year. Verlander has been an outstanding pitcher over the last couple of years. I’ll still hold off on “great” for a few years. A great one day accomplishment, though. No-hitters are always special.

  35. West Coast Yankee Fan May 7th, 2011 at 6:57 pm

Imagine throwing seven. To me that’s one of the greatest accomplishments in sports history.

  36. SAS May 7th, 2011 at 7:18 pm

    Cheers for Verlander!!!!
