A lefty, but no lineup
The Yankees have signed veteran left-hander Randy Flores to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in 1997 and has 350 Major League appearances through parts of eight seasons.
Have to consider him insurance behind Boone Logan.
Meanwhile, still waiting for a lineup to be posted.

Has he been pitching effectively v. LHB or is it just more of the handedness obsession?

Wait?. can someone explain the F-bomb thing?
I don?t come to the blog during games or on weekends that often, so I think I missed this particular part of the Jorgie saga.
***********************
Shame, I believe the F-bombs were part of the hissy fit.
I’m really hoping the next time Posada hits a HR Sterling follows it with, “An F-Bomb from Jorge!”
SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman
Jeter absolved by #yankees bosses after explaining posada’s miscommunication to him. Case now closed. We think.
SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman
Jeter told #yankees brass posada didn’t admit to him he refused to play; jorge only told him he needed break
Erin – I guess I don’t understand is how that stuff gets reported, exactly.
Hopefully the reason for no lineup is the entire team except for Grandy is refusing to play.
LOL LGY I wouldn’t complain.
Shame, I know. You’d think they would have wanted to keep it quiet, but one of the higher-ups who witnessed it reported it to Jack Curry.
Triple Short of a Cycle May 17th, 2011 at 3:08 pm
I agree that Posada shouldn’t be the DH. The problem is if you bring up Montero you have to cut Posada and they aren’t ready to do that yet. Maybe next month they will
—
They don’t have to. They can send down Cervelli. Montero catches some games and DH’s some games.

Seems like a few fans on here are the only ones left who think Po just said he needed a day.

Yes LGY, let’s wait until the never-sensational, always-rational members of the media are convinced.

Shame, take it for what it’s worth:
In the heat of his anger and frustration Saturday night, Yankee icon Jorge Posada told general manager Brian Cashman amid a flood of F-bombs that he not only wanted out of the No. 9 spot in the Yankee batting order – he wanted out of the Yankees, too, according to team sources.

If that’s true he’s done
Leaking to Heyman is an admission that you are socially-challenged.
I am sure everyone is waiting on Jorge to give his ok on how Joe wants to write out the lineup tonight, before Joe comes public with it. Ridiculous.
eboland11 Erik Boland
Robinson Cano said his leg (he fouled a ball off it last night) felt “good.” But just to be sure he’s going to consult with Felix Lopez
Jorge lied to his BFF/Captain?!?!?!
Jeter sold out Jorge!?!?!?!
Yankees acquire Randy Flores due to language miscommunication when Felix Lopex says team needs more flowers??!?!??!
Everything is falling apart!
Flores. Posada. Montero. B’s. Beltran.
Deck Chairs. Titanic.

Fixed.
“Deck Chairs. Titanic.”
Yup, a projective psychological test.
Hopefully the reason for no lineup is the entire team except for Grandy is refusing to play
==========================
Granderson may be the one Yankee Shields has owned. 3 for 31 with 9 K’s. On the other hand:
Jeter is .340 against him. Cano has OPS’d 1.210 against him. Swisher’s homered off him 3 times in 23 AB’s. Posada .296 with a .925 OPS.
Nick –
jacksquat,
I don’t know if they want to sacrifice the defense. Believe me I want him up more than anything.
the one thing I don’t want to see them do is bring up Banuelos or Betances and put them in the pen in the second half
Nick:
I think a lot of the past numbers probably don’t mean much.

time to move on folks
new game they need to win tonight
Some idiot called Francessa and suggested they trade Montero,Robertson and one of the killer B’s for Liriano and Kubel or Cuddyer and Mike said thats not a bad deal

Cervelli has not exactly been gold glove behind the plate… I don’t think Montero would be much worse, if at all.
I agree 100% about the B’s. I don’t want to see starters relieving. I’ve seen enough of that.
“Some idiot called Francessa and suggested they trade Montero,Robertson and one of the killer B’s for Liriano and Kubel or Cuddyer and Mike said thats not a bad deal”
He knows less about prospects than an infant.
Can you imagine that on Seinfeld?
“Costanza – Get me more flowers!”
SI_JonHeyman Underlying issue: posada doesn’t like/trust girardi. This goes back to their playing days together.
———
When you are hitting .165 no one cares who you like or don’t like. It seems like Posada is trying to blame other people except himself for his poor start.
Feilx called Levine and said “Randy, the cubhouse needs mas flores>
Levine thought “Randy Flores? Ok, I’ll get him.”
So there is no lefty in the minors competent to bring up to back up logan. Flores from 97 ! This organization is in shambles. Why not bring back donovan osborne? Or Al Leiter!
“Seems like a few fans on here are the only ones left who think Po just said he needed a day.”
LGY, you are ordinarily a sensible guy. Honestly, what do you care if Jorge said he needed a day off or refused to play? The way he’s hitting, what difference does it really make? And balancing all that Jorge has contributed over the years vs whatever happened Saturday night, how can you work up one iota of all this indignation over it?
How many player options did we give this one?!
Is there some tangible quote that makes this Girardi/Posada rift from “way back when” real? Or was the media just blowing that out of proportion then like they are doing to this situation now?
Can’t imagine why anyone would give a crap was Jon Heyman’s opinion on this situation is. Has he been right about a single thing yet this year?
Let’s hope that the delay in posting the lineup means that we are going to see some changes.
call up montero!!
they will trade him and he will florish somewhere else
Here come the moves…I would assume it’s Soriano going on the DL
————-
wallacematthews Chris Dickerson has a locker here today; presumably he’s been recalled
Posada needs to get over himself
If the losing streak continues much longer, Joe won’t have to worry about managing that fine line at the end of the year between resting guys and going for winning the division.
Be full speed ahead to grab that one wc spot.
“wallacematthews Chris Dickerson has a locker here today; presumably he’s been recalled”
.248 .370 .354 .724
Dare to be bold.
nick – it’s a good thing Felix didn’t ask for a glass of Jim Beam, Levine might have had Cash go looking to sign TJ Beam…….
I think we’ve beaten this…….
wallacematthews Chris Dickerson has a locker here today; presumably he’s been recalled
They should let Dickerson play RF tonight. Swish looks like he is blindfolded when he bats lefty.
Can you imagine that on Seinfeld?

The answers are all downtown.
UnKnownTroll – So now this is a race for the wild card? because of one 20 game stretch of 8-12? Boston’s pitching woes have all been fixed? Tampa’s offense is for real? Yes, Matt Joyce and Sam Fuld will continue to be the best hitters in baseball…. hahaha
I can’t anymore today… it’s just too much.
eboland11 Robinson Cano said his leg (he fouled a ball off it last night) felt “good.” But just to be sure he’s going to consult with Felix Lopez

LOL
So Posada lost his cool for a day. He has an ego and is a proud and emotional man. Think about it. He lost his catching job, he has the lowest batting average in baseball and he gets put in the nine slot. It’s a lot to deal with.
He was wrong, he admitted it and apologized to everyone. Move on.

don’t hang around and let your troubles surround you…there are movie shows.
This preoccupation with LOOGY’s is maddening.
Can’t Cashman and/or Genius Joe understand that it is better to have a good righthanded pitcher pitching against a righty batter than a crappy lefthanded pitcher?
All they do is sign one crappy lefthanded reliever after another.
“I can’t anymore today… it’s just too much.”
Sad that THIS represents the voice of reason lol
don?t hang around and let your troubles surround you?there are movie shows.
….downtown.
positive news:
my man Chris Dickerson has been called-up. Nice to have an additional player, to pull for
further positive news:
am convinced Rafael Soriano will completely unite everyone on this board.
New Post: Christ Dickerson has arrived
just realized I added a “t” to the end of his name. Scratch that. LOL
Flores said he wouldnt mind batting first for Scranton.
This team need Randy Flores. More like tres flores. They need some gangster in them. Attitude is everything.
BTW,
We are all talking about Posada refusing to bat ninth. How about the bigger problem. He thinks hes pinch hitting 4 x a game. Maybe someone needs to tell him that the A.L. has a DH and they are usually better than any pinch hitter coming off the bench.
Cervelli will be sent back and Posada will be his replacement. The team needs a catalyst now and Dickerson may fill the bill. Also, Randy Flores has been more effective in getting righthanders out in his minor league days with San Diego this year. Not much help there over Logan. Anyone for Edwar Rameriz?
The again, Posada may be released.
