Gardner sits series finale
A computer won’t work if it won’t charge, so, after a rough morning spent at the Apple store…
Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Russell Martin C
Andruw Jones LF
Eduardo Nunez 3B

Yankees should finish this series with a sweep. The Grandy man constinues his on slaught against the lefites by going deep once again.
Good lineup vs the Lefty.
surprised to see Martin day after night.
Poor Chad-sounds like you had a fun morning.
What’s up w these Wednesday afternoon getaway games?
Good point Erin on Gardner.
Martin is basically a must with AJ on the mound. Once again he will have to play Goalie all afternoon.
I like the early getaway games when they are out west.

wasn’t he pulled early from last night’s game so he’d be good to go today?
Chad has to realize the A’s stadium is very, very old. Nothing modern about the place.
I’m surprised there is electricity at the stadium.

I don’t, because I won’t get to see much of the game.
Forgot that Martin has made AJ more comfortable.
Erin – can’t you catch the Encore on YES tonight?

Erin ? can?t you catch the Encore on YES tonight?

Living in Illinois, no I cannot. LOL
I’ll probably be able to catch the last couple of innings if I race home though.
Erin-The game might be delayed because rain is currently falling in the bay area.
upstate kate – I like the early getaway days better when I feel like they’re getting away… It seems kinda odd to have the next day off just to play another 3 game set in Anaheim.
WTP-coolness.
Ledger_Yankees Hughes threw sim inning today; live BP on Saturday in Anaheim. Rehab assignment after that, he hopes.
Erin – well, that stinks.
Ohhh Erin, do you think a rain dance would work from the East Coast or Middle America?
Sun is currently out over Marin County, which is only a few micro-climates away from the Coliseum.
Erin – I meant about your not being able to watch the Encore, not Phil throwing a simulated inning……
Phil Hughes update was positive. I can get used to those.

Good question.
Joe-I figured.
bad news for minor league fan tpayank(might have the name wrong)

Sounds like good news on the Hughes front. We in central NJ will be most happy to have Phil rehab in Trenton.
I too will miss today’s game b/c of afternoon appt that I couldn’t get out of.
Go Good AJ, Go Yanks!

HE WAS PULLED IN THE 8TH. JOE SHOULD HAVE PULLED HIM EARLIER.
martin had 2 days off.
jorge does not play against lefties period the end..
andruw jones is the ultimate all or nothing batter. when he gets out it is fast and often ugly.
river ave blues annalysis of the hillbilly (AJ) same as last year more or less. Counting on him is at your own peril……..
Thanks to the one that linked to the Burnett, Nova article. Great read. Need a smile, read that article
It is absolutely pouring cats and dogs here in oakland..I havent seen this type of rain in june in the bay area in the 8 yrs i’ve lived here. Its thundering and lightening…..Its supposed to rain here all day….till about 6ish.
Erin & Shame
looks like your rain dance worked!
“Its supposed to rain here all day….till about 6ish.”
Hey Erin, is this the part where we pat ourselves on the back?!

Hey Michelle B! It was pouring in Marin about an hour ago and now it’s not raining at all, though it’s starting to look ominous again.
I think they’ll make every effort to get this game in. Both teams are off tomorrow, so they could play it then if necessary, but the A’s would much rather leave for their rendezvous with the Red Sox in Boston on Friday.
The Yanks have an off day at the end of their second trip west in September, but the A’s are hosting the Tigers that day.
My how the mighy have fallen…
Mariners released RHP Manny Delcarmen.
Delcarmen signed a minor league contract with the Mariners in February. The 29-year-old right-hander was granted his release after posting a 5.14 ERA and 23/12 K/BB ratio over his first 28 innings with Triple-A Tacoma. Jun 1, 1:41 PM

Thanks for the weather updates, folks!
I always find it fascinating that weathermen and women tend to predict the wrong weather while the Yankees and whatever illuminati system they have can find windows of time when the rain will stop down the to minute to get a game in.
I think the game will be played.
Won’t be the best weather on June 1. The players might have to play through light showers or overcast skies.
It’s not supposed to rain here in June, but it was cool and raining an hour ago across the Bay from Oakland. I expect the game to be played. I’m hoping it will get nicer this afternoon. That has been the pattern for the last few days.

Even if it gets delayed in spots they should get it in.
YF-
The Banster with another decent outing.
Only 1 earned. Would like to see those BB totals drop and him last at least 6.
Same for Betances. Need to get those walks down.
I’m cautiously optimistic about Phil. Slow and steady is the way to go.
Realize that Martin maybe helps AJ but they probably should give him a break on being spiderman a turn through the rotation every now and then……let Cervelli get beat to death occasionally.
Blake-Here’s an idea? A.J. should stop throwing that knuckle curve in the dirt. I’m not a pro hitter, but even I can recognize the pitch and lay off that ball. Its not even close to the strike zone. I understand the need to “bounce” a pitch from time to time. The problem is A.J. does not too often.
I’m going to the game so you should expect rain or AJ meltdown and possibly both.

Geez….where are you? I’m up by the lake and we’re a little wet but nothing I’d call a storm. Stinking cold though, at least for June.
butterball, im down by the colliseum, in the ghetto….The rain has stopped now and it looks to be clearing, but it is bloody fricken cold out.

And no AJ meltdown, thank you very much.

Article on Jeter in SF chronicle today.
Might be a fun read for the fans that don’t live in the bay area
AJ’s hammer in the dirt is an awesome pitch with 2 strikes when he’s ahead in the count. Some of the reasons he’s a bear to catch make him a bear to hit as well…..just the way he is.
Blake-
There were a couple of games this season when I thought AJ was gonna toss a no-no.
His stuff was that good and so was the command.
It’s rare to see him with decent control but he’s fun to watch when he’s “on”.
I’ll take the 2009 version of AJ.
Joe Girardi seems to have discovered that he has a bench in the last week!
WTP–nice article on Jeet. It’s good to read something about him, without the negative slant.
Michelle B……..stay warm…
Paco-
Before I saw the defensive changes Girardi made last night, I was thinking about those same moves myself. I wasn’t confident Girardi was going to make those changes, but I’m glad he did.
Great to see Nunez get an at bat and see ARod get two innings off.
Same goes for Cervelli playing. That move was made to rest Martin for a couple innings because he was going to play today.
WTP-very nice article on Jeter, thanks for the link
