Well, as long as we’re focusing on the SSS or predicting they’ll continue play out, Posada is hardly going to be oppressing Gardner. Each have 5 hits in their last 10 games, with Gardner getting one less AB in that span.
To boot, Gardner, whose every minute stretch of success gets trumpeted here by those who want their fantasy of him replacing Jeter at leadoff to play out, has 4 BBs in his last 77 PAs. Posada has conversely walked 11 times in his last 53 PAs.
Maybe both are due. I agree with Yankfem: if Posada is “clogging” Gardner, that means both guys got on, which would be an improvement or maybe even presage good things to come.

I doubt any aces will be available at the trade deadline. There are only a couple of pitchers that Cashman would trade Montero for so I don’t see him going anywhere.
Even the solid #1 & #2 guys are getting beat, and badly. I wonder if Pete Abe still thinks this RS team is better than the 1927 Yankees? If he does, he should share what he’s smoking.
I doubt any aces will be available at the trade deadline. There are only a couple of pitchers that Cashman would trade Montero for so I don’t see him going anywhere.
___
Correct. There seems to be this misconception here that they would trade Montero to get any pitcher they can find.
So far, he has only come up as bait to get Halladay and Lee.
It will take an ace for Cashman to trade him and dont think they are out there (Felix and Johnson not going anywhere).
You still talking to yourself? Thought you were the master of the scroll by. Why is your nose so bright red, oh, it’s Bobby the Boob clown week, get a life loser!
Pitching – pitching – pitching, I am right on the money again. So much for all that Beltran nonsense.
=============
WC, like the Mets would even trade Beltran to the Yankees anyway. He would be a nice alternative though, as a corner OF’er or as the DH. IMO, The Mets would ask for way too much to trade him to their cross town rivals. Cashman would just have to say ‘no’.
Danks and Liriano may be the only SP worth looking at, and Danks may not even be available, unless the Sox are blown away, and he’s not worth trading Montero or the Killer B’s for, other than Brackman.
You keep asking for the attention you probably don’t get at home even from your dog if you even have one so I will be glad to give it to you. Will you even be able to stay awake long enough to watch to game tonight since it is on the West Coast ? You probably have a bedtime alarm like the dinner bell you announced earlier. It’s probably tough on you knowing that you are a joke.
If Montero does go it will be for a premium pitcher so there’s that.
______
MTU, a premium pitcher guarantees nothing. I would not trade Montero.
///
Agree. Further, who is this premium pitcher we’re getting?? I would not trade Montero under almost any circumstances. But I don’t even think we’d net a premium pitcher for him, because there are so few of them. I also don’t want even young guys with lots of miles on them. Keep the Beast.
I would never trade for Liriano. He is never healthy and the Twins are going to want one really good prospect. When he’s healthy his stuff is really good but he is an injury waiting to happen and his shoulder is probably held together with glue.
I’d agree with Halladay as a Premium SP, Lee has not been all that impressive of late, he got kicked around the last 2 starts, and by the Nats of all teams. Lee can only dream of being compared to Doc.
Hechavarria hit a homer off Hall. Trenton’s losing 2-0. The backend of the rotation is flailing. Trenton needs a Stoneburner infusion, and to send Igawa back to AAA. Luckily, Betances is pitching tomorrow.
SamMillerOCR Dan Haren’s start pushed back to Tuesday because of his tweaked back. Angels won’t need fifth starter before that.
———-
It could be bad news depending on who starts for him. The Yanks have done very good on this trip against good pitchers, but they usually struggle against the scrubs.
Yes, I agree with you that Danks has been a solid middle of the rotation guy in past years. This year he has had some bad luck and poor run support at times. IMO, with the wealth of prospects Cashman & Co. have in the minor league system, they will stay the course and elevate pitching from within the system when needed.
That is why they signed Colon, Garcia, Silva and Millwood as low cost stop gap options, until the minor league tree bears fruit.
So far the definition of premium has been defined by guys like Halladay and Lee.
I can only speculate on the others who might fill out that class.
They are not likely to be avilable in any case.
///
Yes I would have said no to both Halladay & Lee (luckily, they said no to the Yankees ). Both too old.
Felix isn’t getting dealt here, & in any case, not for Montero straight up. Josh Johnson is already DL’d. I wonder how folks would feel if we had done that & he’s sitting on the DL with shoulder problems? Lincecum’s velo is down I hear & they’re not dealing their WS guy any way.
Teams don’t trade prime-time pitchers away. So any discussion about Jesus for one of these elite company guys isn’t coming off with just Jesus. Consider we’d have to deal away a Royal Flush for a King or an Ace. I’m not doing that & I hope the Yanks are smart enough to resist that kind of All for One stuff.
I’d just as soon take my chances with what we’ve got & keep The Bat.
Cc, Danks, and Banuelos would potentially be 3 solid lefties. Danks isn’t a #1 but I think he’s a good 2 or 3. If he picked to his track record he could win a whole bunch of games for the Yanks….and he’s 26 years old.
I think Cashman does not trust Colon and Garcia to hold up for the entire season, and he knows how fast things change when your SP goes down. With all the talk about how great our young pitchers in the MiLB are, they are not ready, and untested. This is why we need Hughes to come back to where he needs to be, and look for at least 1 SP and a LHP BP guy by the TDL.
MTU, not for nothing, but some of these scouts are flakes. There was a guy sitting near us who kept screaming to his fellow scouts that Betances was really “just another Nova.” He must have repeated this 18 or so times. The guys around him were just sorta like “huh?” This was against Portland.
These guys have their own interests, believe it. They’ve got something to impart & but some of their analysis is colored by who they work for & what they wish to believe or have circulated, & some just like to talk. Nice guys, hard working, but not altogether trustworthy.
Im not trying to say Lee isn’t a good pitcher…..because I think he is…..but his legend was built in large part in the postseason which while against good teams in very meaningful games…..is still a rather small sample. He’s never been the 162 game horse that a Sabathia or Halladay is…..and at his age its unlikely he ever will be.
yankeefeminista June 3rd, 2011 at 7:38 pm
Speaking of pitching, interesting article on pitching and velocity. I am not sure if this was posted. http://www.hardballtimes.com/m…..henomenon/
///
Interesting stuff. That’s very heady of that young man. He has seen young pitching mishandled & is trying to control his own course. Good for him. Already senses what works for him.
I think we have to see if the white Sox are out of it before we are able to pick off pieces from them. I don’t buy the Indians for a second and if they come back to the field the the ChiSox are right back in it unless the Tigers take off.
Al, to get down there, I didn’t figure it would be wise to say no to this move. Lake Erie is two miles from the place I found to live, so I’m sure I’ll have plenty of great sunsets. Niagara is a 35 minute drive away which will be cool. Toronto will now be in range to go see a game as will Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
MTU, Colorado would have been nice to go back to. Maybe I’ll just wait and ask for a transfer when they open in Australia or Dubai. Feels like forever since I’ve seen a Yankee game between working and packing.
Joe Magrane must be scratching his head. After he predicted the Red Sox would turn and run from everyone, winning the division in a landslide, they started to slide & the Yankees (who apparently don’t exist to these guys) built a nice little two-game edge. Those MLB Network guys are beginning to sound an awful lot like ESPN. They’re so enamored of Boston, they lose all reason.
It wont be easy but I think the Indians have overachievd and the Chisox have underachieved…..if those things correct then they could meet in the middle. There is a lit of season left…..the x factor is the Tigers
Although Danks (26) would be a nice LHSP in the middle of the rotation he is making $ 6 million this year on a 1 year deal. He can test the waters of the FA market for the 1st time in 2013. I would think he will be motivated to pitch well and go for that big payday in 2013 making him tough to sign long term if you trade for him.
Not so Fat anymore Elvis just crushed a 3 run homer off Dempster…..man he looks good. Im happy for him….though I wish he had had this metamorphosis last year.
IF, and I say IF, Jesus could net us a premium young pitcher then I would be inclined to go for it.
///
MTU,
Boooooo!
Seriously, they’d demand more than Jesus. Probably would insist on Matthew, John, Paul, Peter & Moses as well.
___
I heard they demanded both Jesus and the Holy Ghost.
Boone Logan has been solid for all of 1 year (2010) other that that he has given up more than a hit per inning (10.3 per 9 IP) his whole career and has a career ERA over 5. This year he can hardly get LH’ers out. If another LOOGY presents itself who is decent Logan will be toast.
Be a good guy, and buy Dakota a pair of winter boots, and a winter jacket. You’ll be needing a new Ford PU with a sturdy plow, just to get out of your driveway. Don’t forget to budget the cost of getting your roof shoveled numerous times. I believe the summer season there is July 4th until the 28th.
By what I’ve read, both could be 2 years away, or Betances a mid 2012 call up. They both need more time, and at this point it does not pay to rush them. Like a fine wine, it takes time to age, but, the end product was worth the wait.
Hopefully on Manny. But it depends. Manny’s command has been a little off and the Yanks want it to be pinpoint. Did you see this article?
Pitching coach Tommy Phelps, on Manny Banuelos’ mechanics, and how they’ve affected his control this season:
“He’s just getting late with his separation and his rhythm’s off. (We’re) just trying to get his tempo a little quicker and get some rhythm in his delivery so he can be more natural and be like he used to be. Sometimes he gets real slow and deliberate, and it gets too mechanical and he can’t let his natural ability take over.”
On whether the problems mechanically are causing his command issues this season:
“I think so. … Even last year, he didn’t command the ball really well. He threw a lot of strikes, but there’s a difference between commanding and throwing strikes. He’s starting to get really good to the glove side of the plate, which is good for a pitcher. His arm side’s getting better; a lot of times his ball will run off the plate, but he’s getting better at commanding the fastball.”

Yankfem, I saw this. He was slow that last start I saw. He told Ashmore he had made an adjustment he was trying to get used to. Also wasn’t working inside & outside like usual clockwork to befuddle hitters, although his CB looked really good at times.
I’ll be at Betances’ start tomorrow. Should be nice weather. Hope Oakland pulls it out in Fenway & we get a Big Start from Nova tonight!
Looking forward to a Posada-Gardner double steal.
Nothing more exciting than watching the speedy Gardner following Posada. I guess that’s how it has to be since Posada can’t bat 9th

what would it take to trade for danks? romine, nunez, and betances?
MTU -
I think Cashman does not trust Colon and Garcia to hold up for the entire season, and he knows how fast things change when your SP goes down.

I thought it was OUR wish?
MTU, I’m doing well, thanks for asking. Just trying to get everything packed….. moving day is Monday. Unfortunately, not to shorter, warmer winters.
JCPD -
You got a different place to work – moving?
Al-
I think that is a reasonable intepretation of Cashman’s desires from the article in the post.
I am optimistic about Hughes.
I would like them to get another lefty for now and the future.
If Feliciano is not going to make it back then I think another lefty for the pen would be useful.
Perhaps we can get Williams to include Thronton along with Danks.
Thornton is off to a bad start but he has been a deadly lefty in the past. Throws real hard.
Al, same restaurant, just being transferred to a store that is short of managers. Going to Hamburg, a suburb of Buffalo.

Speaking of pitching, interesting article on pitching and velocity. I am not sure if this was posted. http://www.hardballtimes.com/m…..henomenon/

Interesting stuff. That’s very heady of that young man. He has seen young pitching mishandled & is trying to control his own course. Good for him. Already senses what works for him.
MTU -
“Thornton is off to a bad start but he has been a deadly lefty in the past. Throws real hard.”
=================================
You mean like Logan use to be solid?
Getting Hughes back healthy & having one of Feliciano or Marte for the stretch would really take care of a lot without making any big move at all.
JAP-
Point well taken on some of the scouts.
As far as OUR wish I have to admit to certain bias towards premium pitching. Also not totally convinced he sticks at Catcher.
IF, and I say IF, Jesus could net us a premium young pitcher then I would be inclined to go for it.
I am talking about only the highest caliber guys, and of course Jesus alone would not net one of those.
I think it is probably a moot point.
I think we have to see if the white Sox are out of it before we are able to pick off pieces from them. I don’t buy the Indians for a second and if they come back to the field the the ChiSox are right back in it unless the Tigers take off.
JCPD -
Oh my, you’re going in the wrong direction, unless you want to enlarge your album of Niagra Falls pictures.
It’s been real hot down here, you might get tired of that as well, but, not likely.
Al-
Thornton was/is heads and shoulders better than Logan.
JCPD-
Colorado would have been better. Don’t give up hope.
Blake-
I don’t think it’s gonna be that easy for the WS to get back into it.
JCPD -
Niagara Falls will make a nice back drop for the holiday cards.
MTU, Colorado would have been nice to go back to. Maybe I’ll just wait and ask for a transfer when they open in Australia or Dubai. Feels like forever since I’ve seen a Yankee game between working and packing.
Jim -
Perhaps if you play their game, one day I’ll get a call you’re on your way here. You’re always free to visit.
MTU,
It wont be easy but I think the Indians have overachievd and the Chisox have underachieved…..if those things correct then they could meet in the middle. There is a lit of season left…..the x factor is the Tigers
MTU -
Can you see it now, Jim in the Outback taking pictures of all that wildlife.
JCPD-
Weren’t you interested in the Mid-Atlantic area ? Virginia Beach ?
Australia would great. Good on ya’ mate.
At this point Al, that is where I would like to ultimately end up.
Al-
That would be very cool.
Crocodile Jim ?
blake -
Do you think the Tigers have the pitching to compete all season? I don’t see it happening.
IF, and I say IF, Jesus could net us a premium young pitcher then I would be inclined to go for it.

MTU,
Boooooo!
Seriously, they’d demand more than Jesus. Probably would insist on Matthew, John, Paul, Peter & Moses as well.
Not so Fat anymore Elvis just crushed a 3 run homer off Dempster…..man he looks good. Im happy for him….though I wish he had had this metamorphosis last year.
Al,
Yea that front 3 the Tigers have isn’t too bad at all….
GB,
I wasn’t worried about Romine until Ashmore said he was out of tonight’s game.
Heathcott again out of the RiverDogs lineup (???)
MTU -
Jim of the Jungle. My wife loves those cute Koala Bears, perhaps Jim will send her a nice close-up picture.
JAP-
They would. And the Moon and the Stars as well.
Don’t worry. The odds are low.

Very interesting, didn’t know we had them all under contract, good to know!
Blake-
I want the WS to fall out so we can get what we want.
Don’t talk to me about reality.
Al-
I thought you were her teddy bear ?
JCPD -
Be a good guy, and buy Dakota a pair of winter boots, and a winter jacket. You’ll be needing a new Ford PU with a sturdy plow, just to get out of your driveway. Don’t forget to budget the cost of getting your roof shoveled numerous times. I believe the summer season there is July 4th until the 28th.
Blake-
Next year’s nasty rotation:
CC
AJ
Danks
Hughes/Nova
Banuelos
You with me ?
Mike -
A much different kind, lol.
MTU -
Good thoughts, but, Manny may be more thyan a year away.
MTU,
Yea …..depending the cost Id like that a lot
I think Betances in 2012 & Baneulos in 2013.
Al-
Maybe. He only needs about 150 innings as a numero cinco.
Between the RS and winter ball in Sunny Mexico he might be ready.
If Manny gets the innings he needs this year I think he’ll be in the rotation next year.
More lefties in the rotation is better than fewer.
Take a look at the short porch and how lefty dominant our competition tends to be.
MTU -
By what I’ve read, both could be 2 years away, or Betances a mid 2012 call up. They both need more time, and at this point it does not pay to rush them. Like a fine wine, it takes time to age, but, the end product was worth the wait.
OK Al. whatever you say.
MTU -
What you say we both send Jim some pictures this summer, so he remembers what the sun looks like.
A’s tie the game up 5-5.
Al-
He wouldn’t know what to make of them.
It been a long time.
Besides I’m not that cruel.
I heard they demanded both Jesus and the Holy Ghost.

You are right. I am repentant & prostrate.
Not a great play by Agon.
For those not watching 1st and 3rd 1out-Coco Crisp hits one to Agon ,who nonchalents to first- then throws home- runner safe at the plate 5-5 game.
Play was to 2b. If you don’t turn two at least you don’t have a runner in scoring position.
I can live with errors, but I hate mental mistakes. (Except when it’s the Sox
)
MTU -
Good night.

I should have realized that, sorry, my bad.
Happy hiking, MTU!
Got to get some things out of the way before game time. Catch y’all later.
Tar, loved the Buchholz E on the PO attempt and subsequent WP that helped score the tying run.

Looks like Bucky’s going to be hitting the showers a little early. 6-5 As, Atchinson warming up.
Great feat, though, holding that As juggernaut to 6 runs in under five innings.
Bucky 99 pitches in 4.2 lol.
Yankees pitching gives up a total of 5 runs in the A’s series. Redsox give up 6 runs already in 5 innings of the 1st game
Al, MTU… I know what the sun is……….. it’s what a boy is to his father!! The other one, I’ve seen it on occasion, lots of pictures of it though.
