Jeter gone for at least 15 days
This really wasn’t a surprise judging by the concerns Joe Girardi brought up, but Derek Jeter has been placed on the 15-day DL. Ramiro Pena is the corresponding roster move.
It’s raining by the way, now at 6:23. The tarp is on the field.
Update, 7:01: We aren’t going to start on time. But they are about to take the tarp off.
Update, 7:08: The approximate start time will be 7:40.

I thought they sent down a pitcher for Pena…
Rich in NJ June 14th, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Francesa interpreted Cash’s comment about Po the same way I did.
————
Cash should have just said Posada is an emergency catcher at left it at that.
I thought they sent down a pitcher for Pena…
–
They would have if Jeter didnt get DLed
Should send Cervelli down and bring up Molina. Cervelli is a disgrace.
Rich
What did Cash say about Posada?
Smart move. Now go get treatment and see you in 15 days.
Next!!!
Ian_OConnor Jeter had his greatest team moment — World Series MVP — at Shea. Might as well have his greatest individual moment at Citi Field
“They would have if Jeter didnt get DLed”
Ah….now send down said pitcher and get Montero!
Raise your hand if you seriously didn’t think Jeter would go on the DL.
Ian O’Connor is smitten with Jeter. NTTAWWT
At least Jeter’s 3,000th hit will bring some excitement to citifield. The Mets should thank the Yanks for that.
Time for Nunez to show us what he has.
Huge opportunity for him.
m,
I’m raising both hands. I’m stunned he didn’t force the front office into keeping him active while hurt. He’s done it before. Maybe things are changing this season.
What’s with the clamoring for Jeter to get the Big One at Citifield? If it happens it happens, but I think he’d prefer to do it at home.
All the whining for naught.
Ah….now send down said pitcher and get Montero!
—————–
If you heard Cashman’s interview on the wfan today it’s obvious that isn’t happening anytime soon as long as Martin doesn’t go on the DL
LGY June 14th, 2011 at 5:55 pm
Huh?
Nunez is the SS for now. Not Pena.
*******
Huh? Huh? Huh?
Peña is not going to play? A-Rod won’t sit, or Cano?
Nunez can raise his trade value exponentially with a .340 streak during these next 15 days.
Please don’t hit .200 instead.
Maybe if Nunez proves he can handle SS and hit, they can trade him for a young SS who can field and hit. Oh wait…
Huh? Huh? Huh? Peña is not going to play? A-Rod won’t sit, or Cano?
——
Whoa testy. Not a good look.
So you think Pena and Cervelli will start at least one game together?
Right move.
Heal up quick, Jete!!
We all knew this wasn’t a day to day thing. The front office indulged him by giving him until 6 o’clock.
No big deal from what I can see. These guys want to play, but they’re not going to selfishly hurt the team. Even I could hear the sarcasm in his “we play short everyday” comment.
And to indict Jeter for something that didn’t even happen when others have hamstrung us before to keep their non-DL streak alive is…well…I’ll just leave it at that.
Hopefully, the weather clears up and CC leads us to the win.
Does this mean Girardi still has one of his two rolie polies?
AndrewMarchandRT @AdamRubinESPN: Derek Jeter, 6 hits shy of 3,000, would be eligible to come off DL on June 29 — two days before #Yankees at Citi Field.
Joba_62 At the airport, headed to Pensacola. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers, i will do my best to keep you all up to date!!
Testy?
Lgy, watch out. Soon you’ll be accused of Misandry.
What’s with the clamoring for Jeter to get the Big One at Citifield?
————
Right now it looks like it would be citifield or Cleveland. If it can’t happen at YS, citi is obviously the 2nd best place.
m- totally agree with your 6:05 post. I couldn’t believe some of the comments I was reading. LOL
Mo got his 500th at Citi.
I really like Joba. My best to him for a full and speedy recovery.
M, he made the comments……..It’s fine if you disagree with me, but you’re making it sound like I said something wrong.
Can the team put some soap in towels and get a few whacks in on Cervelli already?
Captain Clutch,
I see what you mean. I hadn’t looked at the schedule.
Who knows, maybe Jeter will be rusty when he comes back?
Jeter could be eligible to come back sooner if they backdate the DL stint to 2009. #jeterhatercaricature
Betsy,
To be quite honest with you, many people said things especially in the last thread. And when I wrote that post it was mainly in response to G. Love.
Sorry that you took it that way.
Joba_62 i will try and send pics of everything before and after the surgery. Also don’t forget to vote for the fellas into the all-star game!
And basically, G. Love was the only one to raise his hands. But not surprising. G. Love has always been forthright.
“Joba_62 i will try and send pics of everything before and after the surgery. Also don’t forget to vote for the fellas into the all-star game!”
As long as he doesn’t tweet during the surgery…
That’s like watching your own C-section. Yuck!

LOL he’d have an incredible threshold for pain if he tweets during surgery.
I think he should look into going bionic.
“That’s like watching your own C-section. Yuck!”
I have seen several friends’ videos of a vaginal births. How much worse can it be?
Eric Byrnes says the Giants should put the Panda Sandoval at the Catcher position when he comes off the DL. Seeing how he came up as a catcher I like that idea for the Gigantes.
What would happen if Nunez and the Yankees go on a tear in Jeter’s absence?
lol, Rich. I’ve never heard of a woman requesting a mirror in a vag birth.
And why would you watch someone else’s? Isn’t kind of awkward afterward?
It never rains but it pours.
m,
I’ll always happily call myself out when warranted!
mel has a point. What are you doing watching it if you dont have to.
I must say. Hospitals would make a killing selling blind folds to men in the delivery room. They would have me at hello.
My GF has a sister who showed us her ‘birthing’ video.
That was odd.
Good luck with the C-section, Joba!

Did you compare?
KenDavidoff Since 1996, the #Yankees are 1414-941 with 2 ties (.600) when Derek Jeter plays and 82-53 (.607) when he doesn’t.
“And why would you watch someone else’s? Isn’t kind of awkward afterward? ”

Because I didn’t want to be rude. Husbands and wives I know like to show these things. I’m not sure why.

What would happen if Nunez and the Yankees go on a tear in Jeter’s absence?
Not likely to happen but if it does, he’ll be back in the lineup the first day he is activated. Some things in life are constant. Derek Jeter is one of them.
YankeesInk Jeter: “I haven’t made my living on the disabled list.” Soriano: “Que?” Marte: “Que?” Pavano: “Whu?” Chavez: “LOL!”
WOW. I’m really laughing at your expense right now, Rich. That’s pretty funny. Did they show it over those fancy drinks that can get past the blog’s filter?
Actually, I feel bad for you. No man should ever be put in that position to politely watch someone else’s birth.
Sometimes I think that men wish it was like it was in the fifties. Stay in the waiting room.

Weird. You’re a stand-up guy. If it had been me, I think that I probably would have excused myself. However, it’s never happened to me, so I’m not sure how I would react.

Birthing video?
I don’t know what that is, something about Luke Scott?
Ghostwriter,

I hope it was just an edited version. Births can take a while.

Only celebratory champagne.
Nah, it was fine. It actually gave me a greater appreciation for what women go through.
mel, my hand is up this time!! Bring back the 50′s even though its too late for me, since I Girardied myself.
I would have asked for a live reenactment.
Wasnt the mother embarrassed of having some other man watch her own version of Aliens? Its still her package thats on camera.
I had an operation on my knee, the old kind, where they open it up, I watched the whole thing. I found it fascinating.
See? You guys haven’t thought about Jeter for..oh…half an hour!
Rain delay?
A lot of messiness.
Then baby.
Cashman in his interview with Francesa noted that a few of the pitchers in the pen shouldn’t be there and that they were suited for “garbage time”.
Ouch!
If you weren’t there for the conception, you have no obligation to watch the birth.
Conception videos… pat… you’d make like a million dollars.
I just had a conversation with one of my girls. Told her that it’s like giving birth twice because of the afterbirth. Trying to scare them straight.
Slightly on topic of the off-topic. But if you’re into foreign films. Dumplings is a strange, but good one.

Colon would be young forever if he followed Mei’s recipe
It’s too bad that Aunty Mei is Livan’s personal chef. They’re actually the same age!
Why hasn’t Colon’s stem cell therapy become the de-facto standard for Yankee injuries? At this point they could get a group rate.
Good foreign films.

Loser Met fans are complaining that Jeter is selfish cause he wants to play.

Get 3K at Shea, hey hey!
The same Met fan who questioned Beltran and Reyes in the past for being hurt?
mel,
Your kids will like those movies. They are both hispanic films. Action, suspense and a good story. Look them up. Pans Labrynth got an A from critics. Thats the only reason that I even knew about it and watched it. The devils backbone was by accident. They said on the notes that it was the same director guillermo del toro(same guy who made blade ll), so I went ahead and saw it.
Looked up your movie and the previews had this lady eating dumplings for 4 minutes. Gotta say, it made me hungry for food rather than the movie.
Also made hellboy 1 and 2.
The same Met fan who questioned Beltran and Reyes in the past for being hurt?

One was actually Don LoGreca who works with Kay on WESPN 1050.
He swears Jeter 3k will happen at Shea.

A strained calf is going to take several days to heal at Jeter’s age.

Moooooooooooooooooommmm!

But these particular tickets became extremely valuable over the weekend. So much for that. Jeter’s calf is costing me a couple hundred bucks!

Bx Jeers-
As for this Thurs, look at it this way: You will get to see a mystery rookie starter who could throw a gem. Next time use Stub Hub, I got my Jeter3K tix for 10 bucks.
I guess some Yankee fans thought Jeter was selfish too.
I wouldn’t want them on my team, but I’d take Jete any day.
If it’s gotta be on the road then Queens is probably the most preferable location.

Good thing Fenway isn’t coming up on the schedule. Even though I am sure most of the fans would be respectful it definitely wouldn’t have the same feeling.
Mick,
I couldn’t go regardless as I just got back from vacation. The Saturday game on July 2nd is my best bet for 3,000. It’s also a FOX game which would kind of suck.

I know it’s selfish, but I’ll be in the city that weekend, and I would love to be there for the milestone. It also would be my first trip to Citifield, which would work out very nicely for me: I’ll get to see the new stadium, without having to endure a Mets game–it’ll be a Yankees’ game.
I see the Sux didn’t alter their rotation for the big bad Rays this week.

I need some help! How does Stub Hub work? Do you print the tickets from your computer? Has anyone used it to go see the Yankees in another city?
Thanks.
Speaking of Trenton, there was a pregame interview with Tommy Phelps. I missed it. GB? Pruf? Anyone hear it? Anything of relevance about Banuelos or Betances? Stoneburner, et al?
comet, yes, you print from the computer. Tickets get sent to your email after you make the transaction.
LoGreca is a dolt. Kay had just brought up Montero to Cashman & after he answers a question on him LoGreca cuts in and changes course of discussion asking about the trade deadline. I’m like, you f*cking idiot, you think a clerical question trumps digging around about the team’s next superstar position player…indifferent Met fan goes for the generic. Great radio.

You should be able to print the tickets with a bar code. I’ve used it for games (not Yankees) and an out-of-town concert. I’ve always had good experiences in the few times I’ve used it.

No YF didn’t listen in. Wonder if he said anything. Did I read earlier Stoneburner is headed for BP? If so, interesting.
Im rooting for Boston to either sweep or take 2 of 3 from Tampa. After I got handed a broom at work after the Sox swept us I am kind of bitter.

Thank Yankee Fem. Sorry I missed your reply. Do the prices of tickets normally drop as one gets closer to the game? I’m looking t going to Cleveland to see a couple of games.
Stoneburner should be a starter once he is healthy. I figure Heyer will go back to Trenton’s pen.
Ghost==
Better move fast on those Citifield tickets…I think they are going ot get expensive fast.
I won;t be surprised if the crowd is about 80% Yankees fans at Citi for those games. If I am a Mets fan, I’d probably take glee in soaking the Yankees fans for my tickets…and I wouldn’t want to be there when Jeter hits 3K in my home team’s park.
comet, no worries. I was just kidding. Prices will rise or drop, depending on the demand. I would think in Cleve., there would be a surplus. So, tickets would drop. Games are also weekday which always makes tix cheaper. However, I would guess if Jeter is near 3,000 some Yanks fans would make the trip.
