    FREE MONTERO

  2. Erin June 14th, 2011 at 3:39 pm

Ledger_Yankees Pena on the list, as is Jeter. But there is 26 names.

Ledger_Yankees Martin says he’s out a couple more days.

JoeAuriemmaYES DL not going to happen for Martin according to him.

I thought that line up would make you happy. GGBG leading off, Nunez at SS.

  5. Warning Track Power June 14th, 2011 at 3:40 pm

I understand why TBA is pitching on Thursday.
If Noesi is needed today or tomorrow, he needs to be available to pitch when called.
Leaving someone like Phelps to make the start on Thurs.
Hopefully the starters today and tomorrow go deep in the game, leaving Noesi available
    to start on Thurs.

  6. willwill June 14th, 2011 at 3:40 pm

    Lol.. @ 6 7 8 9 hitters

    You gotta be joking

  7. Erin June 14th, 2011 at 3:40 pm

JoeAuriemmaYES Martin: I’m just taking it day to day.

RiverAveBlues Weak. RT @MLB_PR: Adrian Gonzalez has overtaken @teixeiramark25 in 1B in @AllStarGame voting (leads by about 250K votes).

  8. blake June 14th, 2011 at 3:40 pm

Cervelli! (Said like Jerry says “Newman”!)

  9. JobaTipsHisCap June 14th, 2011 at 3:40 pm

no excuse for CC to pitch poorly again.

  10. Captain Clutch June 14th, 2011 at 3:41 pm

eboland11 Martin out of lineup once again. Sixth time in seven games
    ———–

Great, I can’t wait to watch Texas run wild on Cervelli and I love watching him play catch with Granderson.

  11. LGY June 14th, 2011 at 3:41 pm

Absolutely ridiculous. Put Martin on the friggin DL.

  12. m June 14th, 2011 at 3:41 pm

    C lineups usually do well.

  13. Jerkface June 14th, 2011 at 3:42 pm

GGBG and Nunez are old news, I’m all about Montero now. :x

  14. Erin June 14th, 2011 at 3:42 pm

JoeAuriemmaYES Martin feels better now than he did on Sunday when he played

JoeAuriemmaYES Martin said he still has some stiffness. An MRI revealed nothing, he just tweaked it.

  15. willwill June 14th, 2011 at 3:42 pm

Seriously cervelli? That lineup reminds me of that fake McDonald’s pic that’s floating..

    It just can’t be real

  16. DocTodd June 14th, 2011 at 3:42 pm

I’ll be happy whenever Cervi and Swisher are no longer Yankees…….

  17. SoS June 14th, 2011 at 3:42 pm

Can Pena catch!? I wouldnt mind in game training if we have to. Please no more Eyes wide shut behind the plate.

Russell Martin (back) is not in the Yankees’ lineup on Tuesday night against the Rangers.
It’s the sixth time in seven games that Martin has not been penciled into the Yankees’ batting order. He’s still having trouble with his back and could be placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday night.

  19. blake June 14th, 2011 at 3:42 pm

Ifs fine if Martin will be 100% in a couple days…..its not fine if Martin isn’t fine in a couple days and they have to put him on the DL then. Had they put him on the DL when this started he’d be almost off now….

  20. willwill June 14th, 2011 at 3:43 pm

I bet the ball boy has better baserunning instincts than posada and gardner

  21. upstate kate June 14th, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Pena was the emergency BUC last year

    champ809 June 14th, 2011 at 3:43 pm
It’s amazing how terrible some of the decisions are coming out of this front office. If Jeter is in fact DL’ed then the most obvious call up would be Montero. He could get some abs @ DH against LHP with Posada on the bench, catch a game or 2 to give Martin who’s obviously playing @ 75% right now a blow and get maybe 40-50abs over the next 2 weeks.

The only thing Ramiro Pena should be doing @ the stadium is dropping off Monteros’ bats, glove and jockstraps!

    Girardi’s mancrushing really annoys me….

  23. Erin June 14th, 2011 at 3:45 pm

JoeAuriemmaYES Martin also said he thought he could go on Sunday and could go today if need be, but rest may be key. If its postseason he’s in there.

  24. m June 14th, 2011 at 3:45 pm

Martin is a tough call, not healthy enough to play, but probably not hurt enough to DL. We’ve gone through this with Jeter, Alex, and Posada before.

  25. Tom in N.J. June 14th, 2011 at 3:45 pm

Don’t know if this was posted yet. It’s from Collins’ SWBY game post:

“Montero is easily — easily — the most talked-about player I’ve ever covered. Maybe in any sport. So I get that this whole weekend was going to be just a pool of speculation. But the fact of the matter is this: I never got one report from this end of things that indicated the back-to-back days off were anything more than just a few days off for a kid to clear his head. The way he was swinging on Friday — the last time he started — he was swinging out of his shoes. The bottom line is, he may have been trying a bit too hard and needed to settle down a bit. Think about it. There is a lot of movement going on around him. Players are going up that, maybe, might not be as talented as he is. It’s probably natural to be going after it the way he has, hoping he can be so impressive that the big leagues are forced to take him. That has never worked for him, though. He’s at his best when everything looks effortless. Lately, it hasn’t.

I reported what I knew — and I did so on Saturday. I reported he was getting the day off, that there was no call-up or trade imminent, nor was there an injury. Then I got a million questions about whether there was a trade or call-up coming. Or, if not that, maybe an injury? Some reporter questioned why there wasn’t more written about this situation in The Times-Tribune today. First off, I wasn’t working. I do get time off every now and then (the company insists I take it). Secondly, there was nothing to report that was different from the first time it was reported. There was no deal imminent. There was no injury. There was no call-up. The man was just given a few days to collect himself. He’s 21. He was probably trying too hard. I think we all need to realize that. This wasn’t a situation where he was “bored,” as many suggested to me. This wasn’t a situation at all. At the end of the day, he missed one game. One game. And it was all any Yankees fans could talk about. It just boggles my mind. But the bottom line is, there was never anything sinister about it.”

Dang. Swisher, Nunez, Cervelli, Gardner in a row against Ogando. This will not end well.

  27. DocTodd June 14th, 2011 at 3:45 pm

The front office obviously feels Montero blows…he’s slumping at .298!

  28. Jerkface June 14th, 2011 at 3:46 pm

After seeing him bat the one game he got in I don’t think I want him in there. Just get healthy!! :x

  29. SoS June 14th, 2011 at 3:46 pm

Reasons Martin does not want to go on the DL.

    1. He forgot that he still gets paid if he gets placed on the dl.
    2. Thinks he can challenge for the most consecutive streaks played.
    3. Loves watching Cervelli chuck the ball to right center.
    4. Is threatened by Montero.
    5. Is really a mole for the Sox.

  30. willwill June 14th, 2011 at 3:46 pm

But oh Nos montero doesn’t know the pitchers fat Mike says. Bs

  31. joeman June 14th, 2011 at 3:46 pm

my thinking they are afraid to bring up Montero ….because if he doesn’t get the job done then what….his trade value takes a hit….they want to be sure he’s 100 % ready

  32. West Coast Yankee Fan June 14th, 2011 at 3:48 pm

This just isn’t our year. There is no help ready in the minor leagues of any note and that is the big story here IMO. How the wealthiest team in baseball with their extensive scouting and resources can be in this position is beyond me. It’s a huge fail.

  33. Erin June 14th, 2011 at 3:48 pm

eboland11 Martin said Girardi didn’t like the way he swung in BP yest and pulled him from lineup.”They told me I was going to sit a couple of days.”

I’m not worried about Martin, it’s just a day-to-day-to-day-to-day-to-day-to-day-to-day-to-day thing.

  36. champ809 June 14th, 2011 at 3:48 pm

the silver lining for me is the opportunity to see Nunez get reg abs and time in the field to see what he looks like as a more regular player. I got a feeling he could roll like he did last year in scranton and really show his ability to drive some balls, his range in the field and def his speed on the bases

  37. Rich in NJ June 14th, 2011 at 3:49 pm

  38. Erin June 14th, 2011 at 3:49 pm

BryanHoch Yanks lineup change. Teixeira DH, Posada 1B

  39. Captain Clutch June 14th, 2011 at 3:49 pm

Swisher playing everyday against righties has to stop!! He is hitting .181 against them how much more pathetic does he have to look before they sit him?? His defense is also an absolute joke.

They have to DL Martin it’s insane to keep playing without a backup catcher and playing one man short. If Molina was on the roster at least they could pinch hit for Cervelli late in the game in a big spot. If Cervelli gets hurt and Posada has to catch early in a game they are in alot of trouble.

too many draft picks on pitchers and catchers? They believed those two positions were going to be the focus of the new direction they were going into.

  41. Rich in NJ June 14th, 2011 at 3:50 pm

    Po at 1B

    Teix at DH

  42. Mell June 14th, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Martin, Cano, Jeter and Rodriguez still have leads in ASG voting, though people seem to be waking up to Asdrubal Cabrera. Granderson still #2 in OF.

    All around victory for Sux
drill you, flip bat, then sweep you in your home field, twice.

Nice to see that in game hysteria is creeping into the pre-game conversation….For the most part I suggest many here to stick to your day job because you just lack the necessities for a career in baseball….At any level

  51. sab June 14th, 2011 at 3:57 pm

As I was watching Cervelli’s antics behind the plate last night; the way he pauses and looks around before picking up the ball that he just blocked at the plate, the way he shakes his fist after a good play or strikeout, the pronounced way he deliberately takes a few steps away from the batter before throwing the ball to third after a strikeout….and I was thinking “who the heck does that in the major leagues” (i.e. acts like a little leaguer)..

and the name that came to mind was..

    Jose Valverde …

he’s our watered down version of Jose Valverde….

I’d rather see him stay here to be honest. I’ll understand if he goes for Felix but this team needs bats especially from the right hand side.

Maybe the front office is trying to get attendance low enough to move the team to Miami.

    Pena?

    7. Swisher
    8. Cervelli
    9. Nunez

Sorry C.C. – no win for you tonight big guy!
