Eduardo Nunez won’t be the Yankees starting shortstop much longer, but before Derek Jeter reclaims the position, Nunez went 4-for-4 and made the throw of the night in a 5-1 Yankees win against the Mets. Nunez drove in an insurance run in the eighth, and he threw out Jose Reyes trying to go from second to third in the seventh. Ivan Nova stranded seven base runners through five innings, and the Yankees bullpen pitched four scoreless. A three-run first inning gave the Yankees an early lead that they never surrendered.
