Is this the day?

Is this what the day of 3,000 hits looks like?

No lineup posted just yet, but Alex Rodriguez is listed in a BP group with Ramiro Pena and Francisco Cervelli. Each game’s starters usually take batting practice together, so I’m guessing Rodriguez is out, but that’s just a guess.

    I think so! Hope so!

Regarding AJ…..if he can pitch like he has this year for the rest of the contract and hold down the #4 spot then the contract looks a lot better over the 5 years. Still an overpay…..but there is a lot of value in just having a guy to make all of his starts.

How about that brawl last night with Ortiz and Gregg. I was out at a bar here in VT when it was happening. Bunch of Red Sox fans cheering it on.

I’m trying to remove any bias on this one, but Ortiz really was over the top there. It’s baseball, guys will pitch you inside. It’s not like Gregg was out there to bean him. The fact that they were up 10-3 also didn’t help, Ortiz shouldn’t have took the bait, they were killing the Orioles. He’s pretty pathetic if he wants to get into it with anyone on that team. Grow up.

Hope the G-Men are laying the ground work to improve their hitting.

Ortiz doesn’t like it when he gets pitched inside. I think the league should all be doing that from now on. Up and in, even if it puts him on base more often, its not like he is going to steal a base.

The RS have developed a habit of pitching way inside and quite often hitting batters early in games. This is the tactic that needs to be used against them early and often.

Also the worst brawl of all time… Fred Sanford came closer to landing punches than Big Poopi did.

As for AJ I look at him like I look at the Marte trade. You play a significant role in helping win a World Series, you are definitely “worth” the money.

He was lousy for 4 months last year (June-September) but otherwise has been pretty consistent about giving 6-7 solid innings every five days. Not worth $ 16.5 M, but there we people here predicting he wouldn’t make 100 starts in the five years and he makes # 85 this afternoon.

For some reason, this year, Ortiz has developed this sense of entitlement and over the top ego that I’ve never seen before. He’s watching his home runs, antagonizing fans and like last night, starting brawls. Typical Boston thug now.

As Jeter says after a 14-4 record while he was out has morphed into a 1-3 record now that he’s back and making the media go nuts and actually quoting him that it’s ok if he bats 2nd in the lineup – gag me with a spoon, what pompositiy, (he should be batting 9th), and borrowing from a phrase made famous by Tony Fernandez in 1996, his new quote: “If I’m in the lineup, we play today, we lose today”.

Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day for a ball game ! !

I would like to hear the Yankees linked to some player who could provide real help to the team. Beltran is, I suppose, too expensive. That is a mistake as he would immediately be a major offensive help. Instead they look at very poor loogies.

    I think today’s the day.

Some can still see a storm cloud on a perfectly nice day like today.

Well, that picture looks a whole lot better than it is here. Gray dark and gloomy……..again.
