Jorge batting eighth. I feel another temper tantrum coming on.

I think its difficult to quantify….but I think Rothschild has definitely been a positive and I agree with what LGY said regarding CC….he’s noticeably going after Ks more this year. I just like his style better……miss bats and power pitch, that’s what wins in postseason play. Also ….AJ has been much better this year…..the numbers may not bear it out but he’s given them.a chance to win in almost every start…..how many were over by the 2nd inning last year? His K rate is up and his swing and miss % is also up and he’s almost already matched his number of 5+ inning starts from last season.

Rothschild has been a big success IMO

  3. Erin August 3rd, 2011 at 4:46 pm

    Well deserved for CC. :)

  4. bruceb August 3rd, 2011 at 4:47 pm

Rumor has it Russell Martin is refusing to play.

  5. mick August 3rd, 2011 at 4:47 pm

CC could get pitcher of the month for aug and sept, verlander will still win the Cy.

  6. Benny Blanco August 3rd, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Thank god, change of topic! Chad, you timing is impeccable.

  7. Chase August 3rd, 2011 at 4:50 pm

This lineup is going to look even that much deeper when A-Rod and Montero are in it.

  8. Irreverent Discourse August 3rd, 2011 at 4:50 pm

bruceb – let us know when that gets funny.

  9. Tyler August 3rd, 2011 at 4:50 pm

So did LaRussa file an official protest then? I know they were complaining about the lighting last night…

Wonder if Paul Konerko playing tonight?

  11. jacksquat August 3rd, 2011 at 4:52 pm

The poker game would only be illegal because the government is not getting their hands on some of it via a taxed casino, so I don’t give a damn.

  12. Irreverent Discourse August 3rd, 2011 at 4:52 pm

YT – Read earlier that Konerko’s already out of the lineup.

Remember earlier this year when Uggla was stinking up the NL East?

He apparently has a 25 game hit streak now.

  14. GreenBeret7 August 3rd, 2011 at 4:55 pm

LaTroy hawkins is driving LaRussa crazy. LaRussa is complaining to the umpires that Hawkins is quick-pitching his batters. The batters are sey in the batters box and Hawkins is pitching from the stretch and not stopping for 1 second. LaRussa forgot that Hawkins doesn’t have to stop when no runners are on base. He just froze his pinch hitter on strike 3. He’s going to bust a blood vessel.

mick, I’m trying to understand the source of your grievance. You seem to be particulary upset about Dos Equiss [sick!!], In-N-Out Burger, and gelato — or the people on here who talk/joke about them and/or consume them. Do you think these types of people aren’t properly respectful of something?

Haha, I also hear Mr. Rasmus also got a job as the Miller Park electrician 2 weeks ago… At least Edwin Jackson has been money.

Jackson was money until today. 10 runs in 7 innings.

14 hits too. I actually went to his first start against the Cubs. His results were good ( 7 innings, 1 run) but he really didn’t throw the ball well. Had men on every inning but got out of it because he was facing the Cubs. Free agent at the end of the year too with Boras as his agent…

A-rod is an idiot for jeopardizing himself and the Yankees. How bad is his gambling addiction that he needs to engage in this, even after being warned by MLB? The only silver lining to this cloud is that maybe the Yanks will be able to get out from under his ridiculous contract.

You’re cozy in your little room
The carpet’s all paid for God bless the TV
Let’s go shoot a hole in the moon

And Roy Rogers is riding tonight
    Returning to our silver screens
Comic book characters never grow old
Evergreen heroes whose stories were told
Oh the great sequin cowboy who sings of the plains
Of roundups and rustlers and home on the range
Turn on the TV, shut out the lights Roy Rogers is riding tonight

Nine o’clock mornings, five o’clock evenings
I’d liven the pace if I could
Oh I’d rather have a ham in my sandwich than cheese
But complaining wouldn’t do any good

Betances: Felt more consistent and fluid with his delivery last year. He has struggled with his release point and his stride this season. They limited my innings early in the year pulling him from some starts early. The goal was 150, but since he isn’t even at 100 yet he thinks the Yankees will just let him go from here.

He talked to Manny after his start yesterday.

So, I go away for a few hours, and what have I missed? Looks like -

    1. Some people like In -N -Out burgers, and some take offense to this.’
    2. Alex likes to play poker with celebrities (old story, but I guess it’s a slow day when the Yankees are winning).
    3. Tony LaRussa is a needs to relax

It must mean that Phil Hughes did really well last night.

    Did I miss anything?

Other than Pat M. can’t wait until tomottow (pool girls), not much.

    SoS-

That’s good. I’ll take yours. More for me.

We’d have to fight over the peanut M and M’s though.

    I’m addicted to them.

What’s the bigger crime revealed today?

Nick Swisher singing Bowie or Arod snorting coke off the ace of spades ?

    I say it’s Swish.

  118. SoS August 3rd, 2011 at 6:13 pm

    MTU,
Admitting it is half the battle. Im not there yet. In denial. Went from the single pack to the big pack and now looking to upgrade to a family pack. Hands off.

  119. jacksquat August 3rd, 2011 at 6:14 pm

It is downright outrageous that California, Arizona and Texas have In-N-Out but New Mexico does not. They skipped a whole state!

It has been far too long. :(

  120. Jerkface August 3rd, 2011 at 6:15 pm

How could in-n-out compete with Los Pollos Hermanos?

  121. mick August 3rd, 2011 at 6:17 pm

    The Chicken Brothers?

  122. MTU August 3rd, 2011 at 6:17 pm

    Jack-

Hate to make you feel worse but even my little hometown in Utah has one.

Write a letter to your Senator and complain.

    :(

  123. Irreverent Discourse August 3rd, 2011 at 6:17 pm

Hughes struggles for 3 months trying to throw over 90mph and can’t figure out why he wasn’t… Betances is throwing 98 and thinks he’s only throwing 92. Life is cruel.

  124. SoS August 3rd, 2011 at 6:18 pm

MLB is acting like Alex is doing his impersonation of Rounders. I will only worry when he starts splitting the Oreo cookie in half in the dugout and comes to games with a Burnett ’10 black eye. I wonder if Camaron gives him signs while serving drinks?

  125. MTU August 3rd, 2011 at 6:20 pm

    SoS-

I have three food weaknesses which are like kryptonite to me:

    Peanut M and M’s

    NY Bagels

    Potato chips

    These are deadly.

The rest will just kill me slowly.

Should I just give up and die happy ?

    Cashman:

    On Manny:

He knows Manny well and he was ready to take the next step to AAA. I don’t have any expectations for him necessarily for the major leagues this year. He has pushed himself ahead of schedule for his age.

I don’t think there was anything left for him at Trenton. Wanted to get some AAA games under his belt before the season ended. The gap is closer to the big leagues moving into next year.

    The stuff is electric.

    On Montero:

This is the part of the year he broke out last year. He took off and had a monster finish. He looked terrific. He turned around a 97 mph. That’s not an easy thing to do. On the defensive side he has come a long way and on the offensive side you would have hoped he followed up with but the ability is there. This is a middle of the lineup guy we believe in the big leagues one day. What he’s done at this level and at his age is rare.

Will he be up this year? It’s possible. He could play in the big leagues in 2011. We’ll see.

No one is untouchable. I had 6 guys who were consistently asked for. We have demonstrated in recent years that we will turn inside before going outside. We rely on our farm system more than we are given credit for. I stood pat at the deadline because I believe in our system.

We have those. They’re alright. Green chile is sort of taken for granted here though.

It is not as good as In-N-Out imo.

Has anyone seen Rich in NJ around ?

He seems to have disappeared. He was a regular contributor.

As long as its not in any packaging it should be fine. I was so hungry yesterday but someone left a sandwich on a bench so i ate it.
    ===============================================
you won’t find a Dos Equi on a bench.

Nick – it seems you are a burger-stand maven.

    I am impressed.

I’d be even more impressed if you could tell me how to eat like that and not get fat……

    MTU,
No. Go with reduced fat potato chips and double up on the m n m’s. You only live once. Speaking of potato chips. Did you ever try the bar b que doritos? They were awesome. Must have knows something so good cant be true. They discontinued them. My wife found some at the 99 cent store expired and all and cleared the shelves. Good news no stomach ache. I was eating them like i was in the movie alive. Couple chips a day to get the most out of them.

    Thanks for the advice.

The hiking keeps me alive, or maybe I have it wrong and the hiking will kill me and food keep me alive ?

Oh well. Life’s too damn complicated. As well as being too short.
