No excuses – A.J. Burnett must pitch at least as good or better than Phil Hughes to keep his rotation spot longterm.

or even short term, the Yankees have a good chance to reach the WS this year and there is no reason to keep a guy in the rotation down the stretch who isn’t contributing anything better than 6 innings and 4 runs a game.

    6 innings and 4 runs a game.

    That’s a good game against a contender.

But only for AJ……….. Cashman needs to stop smoking the “double standard” pipe

    Good morning ?

    1. I really hope it holds off enough to get the game in. A late season DH will not be fun.

    2. This would sure be a good time of year for Beckett?s epidural to begin to wear off.

    3. This might just be an off year for King Felix. Or, it could signify something more ominous. Like with Liriano, whom it seems Minnesota had a sudden desire to trade. If Seattle seems to get aggressive with looking for trade partners, come the winter, I?d be a bit suspicious. Though he still seems capable of stifliing the Yankees.

    4. Saw that the Yanks signed Scott Proctor to a minor league deal. I seem to remember that Proctor was well liked within the organization, back when he was being ?Torre?d?. Supposedly, his drinking was a big reason why he was dealt, in the Betemit deal. It sure looks like his career is just about over. I wonder if this deal is more along the lines of a favor to an old friend, just trying to finish out the season.

Re: your #4 – I had the same feeling myself.

if 4 runs in 6 innings is a ‘good game’ then Hughes’ last two are outright gems.

Pitching to a 6 ERA is along the lines of Darrell Rasner and Sidney Ponson, not an entrenched starter on a team heading for the playoffs.

    Repost:

Maybe Felix has pitched too many innings, or maybe it’s just hard to keep competing at a high level when you’re on a perennial losing team.

Be prepared for the end is near. Jesus is coming and will unleash his kitans (Heaven Shakers).
