Triple-A rotation shuffle no indication of call-up

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on Aug 17, 2011 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Consider this a preemptive blog post.

Yesterday, the Yankees shuffled their Triple-A rotation. Normally not a big deal, but it created an intriguing possibility: It moved Manny Banuelos into a position to start one of those doubleheader games against the Orioles at the end of the month.

That’s not going to happen.

Brian Cashman said via email that the Triple-A rotation was not shuffled to put Banuelos in position for a big league call-up. The change was apparently made because David Phelps is coming off the disabled list and will make his return on Friday. Cashman said it’s “false” that Banuelos is being lined up to possibly start one of those doubleheader games.

Banuelos starts tonight, Dellin Betances on Thursday and Phelps on Friday.

They need to move slowly with Manny B. This is the kid you want developed right…..really both him and Betances…..but Banuelos is 20 years old. He’s got a chance to be really special.

I was at the Oral Surgeon for 2½ hours before going back to the dentist for 1½ more to put the crown on. The tooth location & my small mouth (LOL) caused issues. I won’t claim their competence though!

    Imagine…

    CC Sabathia
    Manny Banuelos
    Arodys Vizcaino
    Dellin Betances
    Phil Hughes
    Ivan Nova

    Hi Lohudders and old friends

This is my first post in months. I have been away for many reasons. I was notifed that my name got tossed around in an earlier post and I wanted to drop in and set a few things straight.

    1) I have no idea who is posting these things but I can assure you. I am not working with the FBI. In fact, all I am working on this summer are my accounting clients and my tan. Anything else is absurd

    2) As for threats made to me. I am really done with all of this. I never even look at this blog anymore. I had to go three weeks into my history just to get the link to it. You can make threats to me, but I don’t know what you are trying to accomplish cause I am really done with this blog. Like I said, I am not working with anyone. I am no threat to you. I don’t even post anymore.

    3) I still think the Yankees should have re-signed MPB Johnny Damon

    4) I wish my old blog friends the best and hope this summer has been kind to you all.

I am going to go back to not posting now. You will not hear from me again. So goodbye Yankee people :-)

The Yankees could very well be setting up the opportunity for Banuelos.
Of course Cashman won’t admit to that right now and will always reserve the right to change
    his mind(or not lie anymore).

Give Betances and Banuelos long looks in spring training then on to AAA for the year and consider September 2012 callups for their big league baptisms and ready themselves for 2013. Rushing them would be a mistake. Hopefully good health for both.

    Ray VT —

I don’t think so about Manny. Yanks rushed three young starters a few years back, but they’re not doing it again.

Now to more important things. When Texas A&M jumps to the SEC is Virginia Tech coming along for the ride?

Matt Moore is a great lefty he led the FSL in strikeouts last year and he is keeping it up this year too. I hope they have it on milb.tv

  55. blake August 17th, 2011 at 12:47 pm

    ID,

that’s part of it….but Matt Moore was drafted in the 8th round…..Hellickson wasn’t a high pick either I don’t think. They won the East last year but still managed to get a million early picks in the draft. They have some smart people running that ship.

  56. GreenBeret7 August 17th, 2011 at 12:48 pm

Can’t see Banuelos starting in NY this year. Not even sure he’d get a call-up. Phelps is back and Warren is doing well. The yanks just dumped Greg Smith, a left handed starter from the Scranton team to make room for Betances. Not sure exactly what they ave planned for Mitchell, but, if he isn’t traded, I’m betting on the bullpen, much on the order of Mendoza or what Noesi is doing in NY.

Prior pitched his first mult-inning game today. A 3 inning stint with 1 hit, 3 strikeouts, 4 groundouts and a flyout. True, it’s only raw rookies and high school kids, but, it is progress. 1 run, 2 walks and 11 strikeouts in 8 innings so far in his rehab at the GCL.

Overall, 10 games, 13 innings, 4 runs, 3 earned, 4 walks and 14 strikeouts. he has hit 4 batters and thrown 3 wild pitches, though.

blake – They won the East last year but still managed to get a million early picks in the draft. They have some smart people running that ship.

I’m not so sure. They only got a ton of picks by failing to re-sign some players and keep their team competitive. They are now in 3rd place with no hope of contending for the wild card. How well did that work out for them exactly?

  65. GreenBeret7 August 17th, 2011 at 12:57 pm

They don’t have a choice….ownership wont allow them to spend any money so that’s how the stay competitive. They draft, they develop, get their 6 years from a player, and then turn them over. Its a great system for a small market club.

afternoon, Ray. That must have been an interesting call. Hope all is well in the Land Of Crazies for you.

If you mean Prior, I wouldn’t think so. At least not this year. I’d like to see what he can do back in AAA, though, against more seasoned players. If he’s healthy, maybe next year or even a last of the month call-up. I’d love to see the Yanks convince him to stay in the organization in any capacity, with an eye on coaching. He could really be a huge help there.

  71. waka flocka August 17th, 2011 at 1:09 pm

Never understood the hype about Crawford to the Yankees when the Yankees had/have a similar player in Gardner.

  72. 86w183 August 17th, 2011 at 1:09 pm

Tampa Bay is NOT a small market. It’s top 15 in the country.

The Rays are a small revenue team because their stadium stinks, their fans don’t come and their TV deal is minimized by the presence of the Marlins in the same state.

They made money last year with a $ 72 M payroll. So they rewarded their fans with a $ 42 M payroll for 2011. The baseball side has made a lot of very good decisions, but the business side is only concerned about profits, not building up the franchise.

  73. Irreverent Discourse August 17th, 2011 at 1:10 pm

blake – understood… but lets not mistake their lack of a choice for a good plan.

  74. Shame Spencer August 17th, 2011 at 1:16 pm

We do take for granted the fact that we’re competitive every season. I see it with the Yanks and Devils all the time.. the fact that we don’t make the playoffs every now and then sends shock waves through the fan base. Thats a pretty unique experience. Even perceived perennial contenders like Boston miss the post season pretty frequently.

  75. blake August 17th, 2011 at 1:18 pm

“Tampa Bay is NOT a small market. It’s top 15 in the country.”

“Atlanta isn’t a big sports supporting town.”

Atlanta also hasn’t had a lot of great winning franchises lately. Winning brings crowds. Always.

    ——
Atlanta can’t fill their stands even for playoff games. SEC football has already begun, and the fans are either at Georgia Tech or UGA games, or at least home watching them on TV.

  94. waka flocka August 17th, 2011 at 1:41 pm

The Marlins aren’t effecting the Rays significantly. They’re nearly six hours apart.

  95. RayVT August 17th, 2011 at 1:42 pm

BTW, I would have trusted the rattlesnakes more! LOL!

  96. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 1:42 pm

The rays ‘market’ might be huge but they have the smallest population within 30 minutes of their stadium, and almost all of them are old people that dont wanna go to games and just listen to radio or watch TV.

They need to move to the other side of the bay or Orlando.

  97. RayVT August 17th, 2011 at 1:43 pm

St Pete ballpark & not a Tampa park is affecting the Rays.

  98. Shame Spencer August 17th, 2011 at 1:45 pm

Oh you mean those playoff games they had, what was it, 6 years ago in ’05?

Obviously you’re closer to the fan base down there and have a first hand perspective, but I gotta believe their house was more packed in the 90s.

Hell, the Thrashers had better attendance than the Devils and Islanders but still got jettisoned to Canada, not because of the lack of a fan support as has been widely reported, but because they couldnt find a competent group to run the team.

  99. tomingeorgia August 17th, 2011 at 1:55 pm

    Shame,
The SEC football season starts on Sep 3. The Braves currently rank 15 in attendance in MLB, and that’ll drop in September, even though they have a six-game lead for the NL wild card.

  100. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Price vs Lackey right now. 1-0 Rays.

  101. GreenBeret7 August 17th, 2011 at 2:01 pm

Prior apparently was going to go at least 5 innings, until the rains came and suspended the game. Still, it was encouraging for him to go that long.

    4.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 SO, 6 groundouts, 2 flyouts

  102. tomingeorgia August 17th, 2011 at 2:06 pm

Lackey hits another batter, Boston announcers say the man stuck his arm out to get hit, then remarked that Lackey leads the league in hit batsmen.

  103. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:07 pm

    Cano: .306 BA, 21 HR, 85 RBI, .886 OPS
    Pedroia: .308 BA, 16 HR, 62 RBI, .876 OPS

  104. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 2:08 pm

Thats really annoying. Hate that pedroia is even close to Cano in OPS, and you know his is going to feature a lot more OBP

  105. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:11 pm

Pedroia gets on base more, Cano slugs more ……Cano will widen that OPS lead before the end of the year….

  106. RayVT August 17th, 2011 at 2:11 pm

Yesterday’s 2nd game between RSox & TB was cool. Not only did TB win, by Zorbist stole 3B & stole home. Also the RSox turned a triple play. So ESPN is constantly showing the triple play with the words that RSox lost!

  107. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 2:11 pm

Cano’s been pretty hot lately, I want him to pull away into the .900s. He was so clutch last playoffs I wanna see that Cano again.

  108. luis August 17th, 2011 at 2:13 pm

    Hi,

Can anyone explain me how a baseball blog can turn in to this zoo?……I am baffled with the way things have turned out here…..read the blog for the past 30 minutes, it`s incredible how much venom can be spilled in such a short period of time….Ray i am not that guy, but you can believe whatever you want to believe….I`ve done nothing wrong, and i am planning to stay, nobody is running me out.

  109. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:14 pm

I think Robbie will push it over .900. He’s pretty much the player he was last year again now….he’s just playing catch up in OBP because he was swinging at everything early in the year. His projections are pretty much on pace with last year besides about 30 points in OBP.

  110. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Granderson and Cano were so good last year in the playoffs, I can easily envision a scenario in which the Yankees have a real hot 1-5: Gardy, Jeter, Granderson, A-rod, Cano

September is pretty much going to just be tune ups and hopefully some exciting callups.

  111. Doc Iac August 17th, 2011 at 2:19 pm

    jerkface,

tex will be in the 3rd spot…garenteed

  112. tigerm August 17th, 2011 at 2:20 pm

Why the never-ending “who’s better” arguments about Yanks/Sox, Robbie/Dustin, Curtis/Jacoby? Bottom line is, whoever you root for, you’re going to argue for. However, I’m a die-hard Yankee fan and I’ve watched all but one of the Yanks/Sox games this year, and I think the Sox are better; maybe not on a positon-by-position comparison, but their TEAM is superior. On paper we’re better at probably 7 of the 9 lineup spots. But Francona out-thinks Girardi, our lineup doesn’t match up well against their pitching–and our pitching definitely does not measure up to theirs. Head-to-head, Papelbon has been perfect, Mo has not. Jeter pops out with men on, Scutaro goes 4-4. Lester and Beckett dominate, CC and AJ get pounded. I’m worried.

  113. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:21 pm

Yes….the Yankee offense is very capable of just going off for the length of a postseason. That’s really what we will have to hope for and that the rotation can keep them in games long enough to get to the stellar pen. You’d love to have the shutdown rotation…..but that could work as well. We have never seen Tex, Robbie, and Alex all hot at the same time….let alone Granderson.

  114. Doc Iac August 17th, 2011 at 2:22 pm

    damon 2 for 2 :)

  115. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:22 pm

    “Why the never-ending “who’s better” arguments about Yanks/Sox, Robbie/Dustin, Curtis/Jacoby?”

Isn’t that why we watch…..to debate this stuff? Its part of the game and has been forever.

  116. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 2:25 pm

tex will be in the 3rd spot…garenteed

Yea, probably. I thought after last season Cano was the #3 hitter but he really got off to a sub-par start (relative to last year) and didn’t maintain the same patient edge he had. Now that he is heating up I think with Granderson & cano they have 2 players more suitable for the 3 spot, especially with Gardner maintaining his offense and Jeter heating up.

  117. Shame Spencer August 17th, 2011 at 2:25 pm

“We have never seen Tex, Robbie, and Alex all hot at the same time….let alone Granderson.”

Great point, blake. I’m just salivating at the thought of Arod being inserted into this line up. Someone posted a few weeks back that Arod is such a numbers guy that if he gets hot and can get a few dingers and rbis in there early he could still make a play for his usual 30/100. I know people sometimes prefer their players not worry about individual stats, but I want the version of Arod in my line up thats trying to get to 30/100.

  118. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:27 pm

    Shame,

Its unlikely ….but I wouldn’t put it past him. Unfortunately he didn’t get to face the Royals this week as he probably would have made up some.ground quickly

  119. Doc Iac August 17th, 2011 at 2:27 pm

    jerkface,

cano is def catchin fire, however, i think giradi is gona go with tex who takes more pitches at 3 and leave cano at 5 as there is no one better for protectin arod

  120. Doc Iac August 17th, 2011 at 2:29 pm

arod hit 14 hrs in april in 2007, hed need one of those months in sept,

  121. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 2:29 pm

A low batting average tex, affected by the shift or swing plane or whatever, is more of a #5-6 guy. High power. Drives in runs. Let the guys with the higher OBP / AVG sit in the 3 hole.

  122. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 2:29 pm

A-rod can hit 5-8 HR in august, then he only needs 10ish HRs in sept

  123. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:31 pm

Tex should hit 6th vs RHP and 3rd vs LHP.

The 100 RBI is gonna be tougher than the 30 homers most likely……48 in about 6 weeks would be a pretty torrid pace. He could go on a homer binge and get the homers.

  124. AZ88 August 17th, 2011 at 2:34 pm

I still go back and forth between who is a better matchup… TX or Detroit

  125. West Coast Yankee Fan August 17th, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Swisher does not get enough credit. His OBP of .382 is the highest on the team by quite a bit. He should hit higher in the order but realistically, there just is no place for him,

  126. Shame Spencer August 17th, 2011 at 2:37 pm

“48 in about 6 weeks would be a pretty torrid pace.”

As long as the guys in front of him stay hot it could be a lot easier..

  127. blake August 17th, 2011 at 2:37 pm

Texas is a better overall team…..but Detroit has maybe the best pitcher in baseball right now. That’s dangerous in a short series. In a 7 game Id rather play Detroit for sure…..but in a 5 game….not sure. Play to win the division and then play who you play…..revenge against the Rangers would be sweet though.

  128. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 2:41 pm

I’d like Texas in a short series, Detroit/Boston in a longer one. Of course no plan survives contact with the enemy.

    Posada

ID – weird lineup. Would be fun to try for a week as an experiment, if the playoff spot was already wrapped up. Probably wouldn’t make any difference at all, since where guys bat seems to be more a matter of tradition than actual benefit, except of course getting more at bats to your best hitters, which I imagine is driving your lineup.

Well kids it’s deja vu all over again. I just got back from the state police barracks. Even though the information the psycho posted about me was incorrect, the implied threat was very real. And they have the power to go beyond hidden IPs to obtain information.

The greatest irony is that no matter how much he has attempted to expose information about me (incorrect though he has been), I have never responded in kind. I either take my profession very seriously (it’s a crime to post an individual’s private information over the internet) or I am just a much better human being than he could ever hope to be. I’d say it’s some of both.

I just hope he doesn’t show up at someone’s home and want to talk Yankee baseball. Even if the person shares my name chances are they won’t share my rooting interest. This is heavy Suxian territory!!!

Five reasons the Boston Red Sox may not finish the season as the best team in the American League East: A fan?s opinion

The Boston Red Sox are currently having a tremendous season. However, there are five reasons why the team will probably not finish as the best team in the division. Here are the five reasons Red Sox fans should be worried about the team.

Statistics are current as of August 16, 2011.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia(notes) and Jason Varitek(notes) are below-average catchers

The current team has a number of excellent hitters. Unfortunately, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jason Varitek are not two of the top hitters on the team and are arguably below-average catchers. Hopefully, the team will still be able to compete and win games even though the two current catchers on the roster are not playing well.

Joe Girardi’s New York Yankees are having an excellent season

Although Red Sox fans may not agree that the New York Yankees are going to have a better September, the Yankees have much better hitters and pitchers. In addition, a number of Yankees players have been injured this season, but the team is currently playing extremely well and should be able to finish the season as the best team in the American League East.

Joe Maddon’s Tampa Bay Rays have been playing well lately

With the help of Johnny Damon(notes) and a strong group of quality starting pitchers, the Tampa Bay Rays are having a great 2011 season. The Rays are nine games away from having the same record as the Red Sox, but the team usually has a brilliant September. It is important to note that if the Yankees and Rays finish with better records than the Red Sox, then David Ortiz’s(notes) team will not play in the playoffs.

The Red Sox do not have an excellent group of starting pitchers

Besides Josh Beckett(notes) and Jon Lester(notes), the current Red Sox starting rotation is relatively weak. Erik Bedard(notes) is well-known for being a quality starting pitcher, but he is also known for being oft-injured. The current starting rotation is certainly an issue for the team and fans should not be surprised if this issue prevents the Sox from finishing the season as the best team in the American League East.

There are a few below-average relief pitchers on the team

Alfredo Aceves(notes), Josh Bard(notes), and Jonathan Papelbon(notes) have been three of the best relief pitchers in baseball this season. However, there are some current relief pitchers who have demonstrated inconsistency and mediocrity, especially Andrew Miller(notes) and Dan Wheeler(notes). Despite having an excellent season, the Red Sox will most likely struggle for the rest of the season and the team would be lucky if they play in the playoffs.

  177. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:01 pm

    Tyler, Radio,

I think he will pitch something like 130 innings this season, getting ready to pitch 160 innings next year. he could be an option as a 5th starter

    blake,

imagine what the outcry would be in the yankees had signed crawford?

do you think this season’s numbers are a sign of what’s to come or just a bad year?

i gotta think he’ll bounce back next year, but it doesn’t bode well for a club that signed him to a 7 year deal

  182. trisha - true pinstriped blue August 17th, 2011 at 4:04 pm

blackaccord, I like it. I definitely wouldn’t be writing off Tampa!

Good article from yahoo. Of course don’t ever expect to see anything similar on ESPN…

  183. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 4:07 pm

Must have drank from the same fountain of youth that Matt Albers did. Not only is he pitching significantly better than he ever did with the Os, but his FB velocity is up 1 mile too.

Actually Albers is easily explained. Well not the velocity but the numbers. He moved from the O’s, a bad team, to the Red Sox, a good team. Albers numbers were bad against the red sox, where as even while on the Os they were good against the Yankees. So he removed one of his worst teams and replace them with a bottom dweller. Thus his numbers evened out. You replace whatever he has pitched against the Os with around 14 IP of 5 ERA and see where his numbers are at.

Aceves throwing harder is mind boggling. I understand why Cashman did what he did, but I always liked Aceves

  184. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:07 pm

I don`t think the rays can overtake the red sox, i think they might play the spoiler role though…JMHO

I hate Boston as much as anyone but do you think that Tampa is going to be able to make up 8 games with that lineup “led” by Johnny Damon?

I totally agree on that. Nobody wants to face that pitching in a 3 game series in September with a playoff birth on the line.

  187. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:10 pm

    JF,

spot on…I also like Aceves very much, never expected that he would have this kind of season

  188. DocTodd August 17th, 2011 at 4:12 pm

Albers and Aceves obviously are drinking the same ‘shakes’ as David OrCheats and Jacoby JuiceBerry..

  189. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:12 pm

    blackaccord August 17th, 2011 at 4:00 pm

That`s what im afraid of….i think we have something like 13 games against them in September

  190. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 4:13 pm

Jacoby JuiceBerry sounds like a smoothie shop

    LMAO!!!

  192. HipHipHorHay August 17th, 2011 at 4:17 pm

Now Maddon’s going to leave Price in for one batter too long. AGon coming up.

  193. HipHipHorHay August 17th, 2011 at 4:17 pm

    Maybe not. Good.

  194. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:18 pm

oops!!, Tyler it was meant to you!!, i`m afraid of the Rays because we have a bunch of games against them in September, we better make some room before then

  195. trisha - true pinstriped blue August 17th, 2011 at 4:18 pm

blackaccord, those losers from beantown were down a ton of games one august and if you remember, they came blazing back. That might have been one of their few world series wins* years. Granted Manny was trying to get pregnant that year, Ortiz was enjoying Dominican milkshakes, and rumor has it that several others in the clubhouse were all pumped up to win…
    But it happened.

The Giants succeeded by dint of their pitching. Nothing says the Rays can’t do the same thing.

  196. tomingeorgia August 17th, 2011 at 4:19 pm

Price at 96 in the 8th, K’s Gonzalez.

  197. DFox August 17th, 2011 at 4:20 pm

“Now Maddon’s going to leave Price in for one batter too long. AGon coming up.”

AGon has become a singles/doubles hitter.

    Hi Erica

Ignore the nuts and post once in awhile.

    Enjoy the summer.

  199. Jacob Ruppert August 17th, 2011 at 4:23 pm

    Hi Erica

I am sorry you have to deal with that crap

    Enjoy your summer

  200. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:23 pm

    Tom,

How are you, good to see you around….yes, if i could have a pitcher i would like it to be him after kershaw

  201. tomingeorgia August 17th, 2011 at 4:25 pm

    luis,
Fine thank you. I agree, most teams could use a 96 mph lefty.

  202. GreenBeret7 August 17th, 2011 at 4:26 pm

just like Clippard last year, aceves allows a lot of his inherited runners to score.

  203. mick August 17th, 2011 at 4:26 pm

erica is free to come back anytime she wishes, did she admit to being hacked?
maybe she has other reasons, she wasn’t specific.

That was one of the poorest written articles I’ve ever seen on a reputable sports site…I assume it was written by a “fan” and thus is essentially an opinion based blog post rather than an analytical article.

  205. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:33 pm

Crazy Kyle to close it out…..Jikes!!

  206. trisha - true pinstriped blue August 17th, 2011 at 4:34 pm

I love it when other teams make it interesting and actually give the sux fans hope for a win – and then smash their hopes with the final out!

    :D

  207. HipHipHorHay August 17th, 2011 at 4:37 pm

A Yankee win tonight means two nights in a row in sole possesion of first place. Would feel good – feels like a long time since that happened.

    Hope I didn’t jinx them!

  208. trisha - true pinstriped blue August 17th, 2011 at 4:37 pm

Awwwww! I was so hoping the sux would pull it out in the 9th!

    :D

    GO YOU RAYS!!!

  209. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:37 pm

Game over!!; the red sux lose!….Trisha i rather have them in a big hole every time out, no chance of getting out of it

  210. DaveD August 17th, 2011 at 4:37 pm

The Sux had 9 hits total in the 3 game series against the Rats (3 in each game).

  211. blake August 17th, 2011 at 4:41 pm

    Kd,

From earlier…..I.certainly think Crawford is better than he’s played this year and that he will bounce back somewhat next year……but it’s a terrible overpay for a guy that’s played on turf for years, is close to 30, and bases his.game on speed.

Callers calling in to Mlbradio talking about how streaky the Sox offense is…..that sounds familiar :)

  212. trisha - true pinstriped blue August 17th, 2011 at 4:42 pm

I like living on the edge. I like that sense of excitement. I especially love watching the sux come back and getting thisclose to a win, and then BAM! The hammer comes down. Their fans are at fever pitch, because if you’ve noticed every time the bat meets the ball they cheer as if a homer has been hit. They get so damned excited, OMG now only one run down! And then BAM! The hammer comes down.

    It really makes me smile!

    :)

  213. ac1 August 17th, 2011 at 4:42 pm

but aren’t the 2011 red sox supposed to be better than the 98 yanks and the 27 yanks?

  214. 108 stitches August 17th, 2011 at 4:42 pm

A parting message to the K.C. Royals (after tonight’s game). Do serious damage to the Sux pitching staff for the next 4 games.

  215. blake August 17th, 2011 at 4:43 pm

The Sox are lucky that Ellsbury broke out and that Papi returned from the dead…..

  216. trisha - true pinstriped blue August 17th, 2011 at 4:43 pm

“but aren’t the 2011 red sox supposed to be better than the 98 yanks and the 27 yanks?”

They are, aren’t they? Aren’t they??????

  217. luis August 17th, 2011 at 4:47 pm

See ya at game time i hope

  218. trisha - true pinstriped blue August 17th, 2011 at 4:48 pm

You know I’ve always liked Bruce Chen. I’ve always thought that he pitched much better than his stats showed. I liked him enough that I almost picked him up for my fantasy team once he came back off the DL, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it the week he was facing the Yanks.

Still, I wouldn’t write him off. Not just yet.

  219. Jerkface August 17th, 2011 at 4:50 pm

Bruce Chen is a leftballer, which is to say he is left handed and throws an assortment of balls almost all around the same speed/break into the zone. Sometimes its effective. Yankees ought to torchhim but some teams can be bedazzled by the leftballer

  220. Doc Iac August 17th, 2011 at 4:50 pm

    new post

  221. West Coast Yankee Fan August 17th, 2011 at 4:55 pm

The Yankees destroy Chen, always have.
