Yankees planning to “fight” decision to play Sept. 8
Both manager Joe Girardi and player rep Curtis Granderson said the Yankees will try to “fight” the decision to play a game on their last remaining full off day. Granderson said the Yankees never agreed to the decision, and they’re hoping to figure out an alternative. Also according to Granderson, the Orioles preference is to play the September 8 game at 7:05 p.m., forcing the Yankees to play a night game immediately before a West Coast trip.

Screw the Orioles. I would rather forfeit a game than let them play a game on THEIR terms and allow them to make $$$ off the Yankees by getting a game in. Let them lose a gate………….
A night game before a West Coast trip? Right
Agreed, Betsy.
F the O’s.
Does everyone remember how this happened in Baltimore once before? We got jobbed two games because of some decision to let the Yankees play in a monsoon and the game had to be called, I believe Moose was on the mound. And then when the game was picked up it forced Andy to have to pitch on extra rest and the results were disastrous.
Something like that.
The Yanks better fight it. The O’s should be emabarrassed with the way that they treated this situation. They don’t care because their team is a joke anyway but it makes their organization look even more clueless and pathetic.
the O’s used to be a quality organization, these moves smack of both a lack of professionalism and a desire to stick it whenever possible to the Yankees.
this is the first time I’ve ever accused another team (or the media) of being unfair to the Yankees but this whole situation was handled so poorly it defies the imagination. Using a hurricane as a mechanism to hurt another team is just despicable.
I don’t want the Yankees to cave on this……. and I hope the Steinbrenners don’t.
why did mlb allow it?
trisha, that was 2003 I think.
The O’s had their chance to reschedule this thing and blew it. Now it should be played on our terms at YS3.
The Orioles are a bush league bunch of punks
It’s just amazing that Selig couldn’t/didn’t get involved to schedule a DHer today
MG, yep. That’s why I want the Yankees to forfeit ….they have to stand up to the bO’zos and MLB. It’s patently unfair……….take a stand, Yankees!
trisha, you are correct. There was an impending natural disaster and if the Yankees did not play, Yanks would have been forced to forfeit the game.
Then, there was an impending natural disaster in which the Rays might have had to forfeit a game at YS if they could not get there for game, but MLB forced a postponement.

blake, that too-are you sure you didn’t grow up in Brooklyn?
The Yankees play the orioles at home on the 7th at 1PM. Why can’t they just play a DH that day in NY and split the gate? If they have to travel to Baltimore to play that game I agree with Betsy-better yet, have Burnett stay in Baltimore come out to home plate and give the umpire a blank line-up card!
Lenny Dykstra charged with indecent exposure in Los Angeles
Well if the Yankees didn’t agree to it I don’t see how it happens.
Aren’t there 2 parties involved ?
A mutually agreeable decision should be arrived at.
Seems simple enough.
I agree with Betsy. Forfeit the 1 game and by doing that, Yanks send a message to MLB and to the Orioles and in the process, cost the Orioles 1 game’s ticket sales.
YT, that would be funny, lol.
The Yankees are mad as hell and they aren’t going to take it anymore……..go Yanks!

the right solution is one that Girardi mentioned after the game, schedule it the day after the season ends-this way it’s not played unless it’s necessary to determine the final standings.
The Yankees get walked all over by every other team and MLB the way Betsy gets walked all over on here. Seriously. LOL
MG, that’s what I’ve been saying all along…………
betsy is learning to walk
MG,
Guess I’ve been.hanging around here too long
MG-
The RIGHT solution is a fair solution.
To be fair it has to be equitable to both parties involved. That means no undue suffering on either side.
If it isn’t something is wrong and it needs to be corrected.
And I hope it will be. It should be.
lol mick. Betsy needs to start doing the walking. When she mans up and starts walking on us folks is when the Yankees will man up and start walking over others. Start hitting batters in retaliation for our batters being hit. Start moving batters off the plate with some chin music
MTU – thanks. It’s nice to be around my friends again and sharing the Yankee experience.
I’ve battened down the hatches and am just waiting for the fun to begin. Definitely eerily the calm before the storm here. For most of the day, it was quite warm but dry. Suddenly the dew point is up to 74 degrees. So you know something ‘s on its way.
The Orioles had no desire to be fair; they decided to do what they decided to do because they could – and because it would hurt the Yankees. What a punk move by a punk organization.
Blake-
You are one tough Hombre.
I’m glad you’re my buddy.
Have a good night.

The O’s don’t want that, because then they may not get the gate. That’s also why they want the doubleheader on Sunday, because on a weekend it’s easier to get people to a day game. That’s also why they want a night game on the 8th, because it’s a weekday. All this is about money, not necessarily screwing the Yankees.
It’s all Buck’s fault. He left Cone in too long.

you really need some new material, maybe West Coast can teach you how to plaigarize.
Good on Joe for calling out the Orioles on their spiteful nonsense. Trisha, you’re right about this being the second time – the O’s pulled this stunt back in 2003 with MLB backing them up. Played in an empty park with the entire city closed down and a dangerous storm blowing into town. Had to call it off after 5 innings with a 1-1 tie and re-play the entire game later. Angelos & Co. are as foolish as they are petty and vindictive, and apparently have little regard for the safety of the players. Good to see the Yankees are fighting the rescheduling move.
Russell Martin gave a great, concise postgame analysis of what went wrong with AJ. When asked if he is one of the “long list of people mystified by why he’s [AJ's] not better than he is” given his “great stuff”, Martin calmly responded “Mystified? Well, today was simple, it was command. I mean, you have great stuff, but if you don’t have your command, it doesn’t matter how good your stuff is, really. You get anybody in a situation where they’re 2-0 or 3-1, and the guy could be throwing 105, it doesn’t matter. If you know a fastball is coming, you’re going to be able to hit it.” Pretty much says it all.
MTU-
I tried to cheer you up the last post. It appears from the picture of AJ that he’s crying into his shirt!!
That reminded me of a Tom Hanks movie. 41 sec You Tube attached:

Now watch it dammit!!
sammie and jacob, I seem to remember the Yankees sitting on a bus somewhere in Baltimore for a long time because they couldn’t get out of there due to the hurricane (?). The whole situation was a mess!
I didn’t realize it was that long ago!
Trisha-
Likewise. Please take appropriate steps to ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones.
Got a hot date with a Canyon tomorrow. See ya’ when I can.
Have a good night.
A bit of positive news.
Andrew Brackman, RHP: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K’s, 3-1 GO/FO –29 of his 45 pitches were strikes. Since Brackman “reevaluated” his delivery, he has a 1.76 ERA, a 0.587 WHIP, 8.8 K/ 9, and a 7.5 K/BB in 15.1 IP. He’s making a case for a September call up.

“The Yankees get walked all over by every other team and MLB the way Betsy gets walked all over on here. Seriously. LOL”
LOL? You think this is funny?
Burnett admitted in the post game interview he no longer can get away with bad pitches-he said, ‘when I threw 97-98 I could get outs when I missed location badly but I don’t throw that hard anymore and have to locate better’.
The guy knows he sucks and can’t win with the way he’s pitching, it doesn’t mean he deserves to stay in the rotation but at least he’s being honest.

I was a hundred percent right about Hughes, he is not pitching meaningless innings in the pen is he? And he is an important part of the future Yankees rotation isn’t he. Ooops well, he missed that one.

Tar the new you is impotent and oh so lame.
========================================
Just wanted to keep y’all abreast.
There’s really not much AJ or any pitcher who is struggling this badly can say……….
That is good news blake. Thanks.
With AJ imploding maybe Warren will get a chance.
Of course all the analysts will continue to keep saying that AJ has unbelievable stuff and they just don’t understand why he struggles….
Tar, I find neither funny, though I contribute to the latter part. I do find the comparison both fitting and funny
YT-
It wouldn’t open. Honestly. I’ll try to see it on my other computer in the morning before I head out.
It’s really AJ who needs the cheering up but thanks just the same.
See you at Sunrise.

===========yeah some clown called me on that the other day,its plagiarize, get it right.
Mick you are a class A reporter. I wish you had a mic stuck under Girardi’s nose in the locker. I can only imagine what the question would be.
MTU – enjoy the Canyon! I hope the “s words” decide to stay hidden!
I know this may sound crazy, but I think there’s a bit of adventure in being involved in a hurricane (especially a category 1-2). I pray for everyone’s safety and that there is not death or major destruction (tree branches on the front lawn is doable.) Maybe the howling winds and driving rain are throwbacks to when I was able to observe with fascination but at the same time feel protected by a mother and father whom I believed to be invincible.

for someone who consistently misspells the simple word ‘its’ as ‘it’s’ on your resume and other business-related documents you have one hell of a nerve criticizing anyone, John, STFU.
Joe, how long you gonna stick with this schmuck?
Something like that.
I was listening to MLB radio a couple of days ago and they were talking about AJs mental problems……a caller called in and suggested that perhaps his struggles were related to a decline in his stuff. Duquette dismissed it because his velo is only down .4 mph or something from last year and he was quote ” good last year” …..no joke.
Blake, Ron Darling was on WFAN mid-week and he also pulled a “AJ has killer stuff” routine. His stuff is pretty good, it’s not killer………….People still evaluate AJ based on his reputation, but he’s sort of fallen off a cliff rather quickly
I walked into a blog and a spelling bee broke out.
Either way, though, it’s not like he’s going to get a start in the post-season…….we basically know who the 4 starters are
Rather than forfeit, the Yanks can play with what would essentially be the second team. They could have a forty man roster at that point, and guys who would normally not play, go at it. Jeter, Arod, Cano and the others could be excused. No forfeit, but not the real deal.
MG – Looks like you blew your cover. They always do. Reveal any other personal information about people lately? Now who is disrupting the blog?

Yep, they could send the B team and all the regulars could just go to Anaheim as planned.
There were a few surprises tonight. Aces Dan Haren and Roy Oswalt had terrible outings, and Met, just placed on and cleared waivers-Chris Capuano pitched a CG 2 hit shutout of the Braves.
And the B team probably has a decent chance of beating the O’s, as long as AJ is not starting.

When I was younger I thought hurricanes were cool because they cancelled school and we got to go outside and play in the rain. We used to get on our bikes and ride around the neighborhood surveying the damage. What was not fun was when they told us they were canceling school on friday on wednesday and then thursday night after packing and worrying all day thursday it would change path and we would get nothing. After the 4th time this happened we never took hurricane warnings seriously.
I hope it changes course but as soon as that happens no one in New England will ever take another hurricane warning serious again.
Betsy–
Of course, but not at the expense of integrity. The team, or its representatives must show. The public will get it. In Baltimore, and everywhere else. And, it might be a good game. All those who are interested in Montero, and others, willget a good look. No harm done. The Yanks go to post-season, and O’s sadly, go home. Sadly, because this was once a great franchise, and not too long ago.
Well tmw should be a big blog day if we have electric.

“Looks like Tar the hypocrite is not practicing what he preaches and is out to disrupt the blog given that the conversation is about baseball. He obviously has a serious problem”
No hypocrisy at all. There are rules on this blog. You constantly ignore them and are a constant troublemaker. An example is politics, there is no politics on this blog yet you feel you can bring the subject up whenever you feel like it. Guess what I say no you can’t.
You have been banned from the DN blog for doing the same thing, that you are doing here.
Enough is enough. Just because Lohud (for whatever reason) chooses to ignore you’re disruptive ways, doesn’t mean I have to.
As long as you continue to troll on this blog,I am going to harass you and be as disruptive as you are. Maybe Lohud will get the message and do something about it.

And Mick you really need to grow up. But I can see the attraction to WCYF because you both have the same immaturity level.
think you got the last word in tar?
bah humbug.
I think if it is an afternoon game no problem. But if they insist on a PM game before a WC trip the Yankees should just forfeit it. Not sure what penalties would ensue. Would Baltimore be able to claim damages (lost revenues)?. This probably does not amount to much.

About this afternoon:
There seemed to be a nice discussion going. But if you have spent anytime around here you realize it’s a mirage. WCYF can’t behave for more than a few hours of time. As evidenced by some of his posts tonight.
He is trying to manipulate some of you into thinking he’s a good guy, because he knows I am having an effect on his run here. Guess what, it’s not going to work.
The only negativity I read was Mick trying to stir the pot. Obsession perfume was brought up as a joke, but it fits.

Unless I am banned, or somebody else comes to restore order, I am not going anywhere.
why would you be banned?
GB is an idiot. That is the reason for the mick comments. Tar, what exactly do you think you are affecting and how exactly are you affecting the run, as you put it, of WCYF? WCYF does not commit egregious acts on this blog. There have been a few instances. Racism, Blog Terrorism, but WCYF fits neither of those categories.

Why don’t the Yanks and Os play at a neutral site like when the Astros/Cubs played in Milwaukee?
Let them play in Tampa or Houston or some other vacated stadium
its ok when gb attacks?

If people are gonna walk all over you, you need to take a stand…. otherwise you can’t get mad when they continue to do it.
Eff the Orioles.
Eff MLB.
Forfeiting sounds like a great idea.
Selig would lose it.
So what are they going to do when one of the games on Sunday gets rained out too.
Let me guess lets play on the 15th on our way back from out west in Seattle. Might as well book end the entire West Coast Trip by playing the pathetic Birds.
This entire situation and make up games scenario has snowballed out of control. Extremely disappointed in MLB for not stepping up and invoking some common sense in the situation.
Can’t figure out what is more screwed up. These make up dates or AJ staying in the rotation?
Insanity on both counts.
