    Sir Lancelot :)

Pendleton will be the long man into the game tonight, when Burnett gets tossed for finally trying to pitch inside and hitting another batter in the 1st inning after being warned!

    The good
    “Montero is playing tonite”

    and the bad
    “AJ is on the mound”

Think you left out the ugly (which is what most of us are expecting from Burnett).

Because Pena is on the DL….

  10. ac1 September 1st, 2011 at 3:14 pm

    6 call ups so far?

Montero, Laird, Dickerson, Proctor, Pendleton and Valdes? Then Noesi?

Anyone else on the possible list of call ups?

  11. SoS September 1st, 2011 at 3:15 pm

    WYH,
Some here where saying yesterday that he can take a players spot thats on the 60 day dl.

    GB,
Hows it going in your neck of the woods OLD friend? Labor Day is around the corner, whats Korloff cooking? Get any windows hooked up yet or your forearm getting swelled up by being a fly swatting expert. Try chop sticks. If you can catch a fly with those, you automatically get a black belt in Miyagi doe Karate.

    Erin,
    Good day!

Erin, you’ve never seen the Lancelot Link shows on TV? It’s about a super-spy talking chimp (James Bond of the animal world). Sort of like the old shorts run on TCM with the talking dogs that walk on hind legs like humans.

  13. Bret The Hitman September 1st, 2011 at 3:16 pm

Are they stretching out Noesi in Scranton?

    They should be.

  14. Yankee Trader September 1st, 2011 at 3:16 pm

    Bret-

Interesting post. Liked the line”every line up needs a pest or two.”

It seems that the Red Sox have 3 or 4 pests in Scutaro, Pedroia, Lowrie and Ellsbury.

I guess you can’t consider Ellsbury a pest anymore. He has more, or is very close to more, homers this year than in the prior years combined.

Is he the beefed up version of Lenny Dykstra??

    1) Is it confirmed Montero is playing tonight? I have not heard this but see many posts on this.

    2) Isn’t Andruw Jones as much if not more of a HR threat and all-around better DH against left-handers than Montero? I understand the hype to see the kid, but Jones has already seen every pitcher in both leagues.

Surprised there isn’t more consideration being given by Yankees to call up Andrew Brackman. He has been terrific last few weeks, is on 40.

I think it was Nick in SF that said I would love Italy until there is a strike, well you freaking nailed it!!

got this email a few minutes ago:
    Italy General Strike

On Tuesday, September 6th, transport services will be severely disrupted due to a general strike called by CGIL labour confederation. Concerning air traffic, pilots, flight attendants and ground staff of airports will strike from 10:00 am to 06:00 pm (local time). Moreover, train services will be halted from 09:00 am to 05:00 pm. Local transport, including buses, subways and trams and ferries will also be affected by the strike during the day.

You are receiving this email because our records indicate that you have reserved a flight that could be impacted by this event.

  22. Nick in SF September 1st, 2011 at 3:19 pm

“Someone walk me through how Montero gets onto the post-season roster.’

    1. Performs well enough that the Yankees want him on the post-season roaster.

    2. Replaces an injured position player who was already on the 40-man roster before today.

Jack Curry tweeted it and most likely Jones will be playing LF, since gardner has not been very good lately at the plate.

    Wave,

    No problemo.

    Bret,

Long term yes…..but for this year Id make Noesi into a short reliever because its already a lost season as far as innings are concerned and Id much rather have him coming into games in the 5th or 6th than Ayala and he gives another option in addition to Wade.

  48. yankeefeminista September 1st, 2011 at 3:36 pm

I was a victim of one of those strikes in Italy. I had a small carry-on suitcase that they would not let me carry on because the plane was overloaded. Nor would they let me open it to take out contents. All my luggage went to Naples, while I went to Rome then Catania. In my suitcase were not only irreplaceable writings and documents, but all my clothes including my most prized gray Yankees back to back champions “t’-shirt from 1998/99. Luckily, they located my luggage 3 days later. Moral of story, wear any irreplaceable Yankee gear when flying.

Prufrock, still awaiting SI playoff sched. and yeah, last start dates for Killer B’s. Hoping Bracks gets a call up.

Sucks that the most vocal fans (e.g. on radio) are always the least intelligent. Usually they’ve watched 25 games on the season and have nothing better to do in their lives than sit on hold until they get through.

    Such is life.

  64. Yankee Trader September 1st, 2011 at 3:45 pm

SoS, replacing the guts of the tank is pretty simple. Just need a wrench, a cresant wrench an a screwdriver (or a scotch and water will do). The instructions are on the back of the packages. Takes about 30 mintutes….a little more if you have more than one drink.
