Not according to plan

Even before first pitch, things weren’t going well for the Yankees. By the end of the game, not only was Eduardo Nunez in right field, but Jorge Posada was behind the plate and the Yankees had a 6-0 loss against the Angels. It was their fourth straight loss, and they missed a chance to increase their lead in the division. CC Sabathia pitched out of trouble all night and missed his chance to pickup win No. 20. The injured Yankees had just four hits again Dan Haren, who pitched a shutout.

  2. Captain Clutch September 11th, 2011 at 12:06 am

Anyday now Girardi will realize that these guys aren’t robots and they need a day off

  3. RSM September 11th, 2011 at 12:08 am

Half the line up is injured & the other half is slumping…Things will get better.

  4. stuart a September 11th, 2011 at 12:09 am

no you got it wrong grandy is the k man and tex is the pop up guy. cano is the disinterested guy. gardner in comotase… nunez is the guy with a zero baseball IQ,\.

missing russel 240 martin is a little desperate. russel martin should hit 9th if your whining over losing your 9th hitter this team is even worse then I thought.

btw aj burnett has great stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so the injury excuse coming. laughable…………………cc looked like crap…..

  5. stuart a September 11th, 2011 at 12:12 am

tex is now a 240 to 255 hitter that is who he is. he has decided to be a back leg pull crazy all or nothing hitter especially lefty.

why hit a guy hitting less then 250 3rd ???

arod is a joke. 7 more years of his fragile crap… the guy is not playing in 110 games this year…..

the best thing tonight is kontos and montero got major league time.

hopefully luis ayala and aaron laffey will be avaialble tommorrow!!!!!!!!

incredible the clown announcers mentioned ayala was not available tonight, like that is a problem…….

  6. Captain Clutch September 11th, 2011 at 12:12 am

BryanHoch Martin’s x-rays negative. Montero will catch tomorrow.

  7. Spudz September 11th, 2011 at 12:12 am

Binder Joe needs to play the B line up tomorrow and give all the regulars a day or two off.

  8. Captain Clutch September 11th, 2011 at 12:13 am

BryanHoch Sounds like Austin Romine will be here tomorrow.

  9. Bret The Hitman September 11th, 2011 at 12:13 am

Mitre’s first start in place of injured Andy Pettitte surely was lousy enough to make the Yankees think harder about pulling the trigger, although a Yankee person insisted that while GM Brian Cashman has been talking to the Diamondbacks about Haren, it didn’t mean he was pushing to make a deal.

Likewise, a player agent close to the situation said Saturday he believed there is no urgency on Cashman’s part to get a deal done.

“This isn’t Cliff Lee,” the person said. “The sense I get is that for it to happen, everything would have to be on (Cashman’s) terms.”

Every team slumps ands heaven knows the Yankees have a right to be tired…frustrating series, though

  11. stuart a September 11th, 2011 at 12:13 am

the great managers questions will be the usual tip your cap BULL.

nunez should be fined for not running to first. then again the jog to first has been perfected by cano………

  12. Niblick September 11th, 2011 at 12:14 am

CC has looked like crap since August 1. There’s something wrong with him – he’s giving up lots of hits, making way too many pitches, and not going long enough in games.

  13. Betsy September 11th, 2011 at 12:14 am

Plus… They are really banged up

  14. fantasygame101 September 11th, 2011 at 12:14 am

they are tired and it is ok…. the angels, rays, tigers must be well rested.

  15. Yank1 September 11th, 2011 at 12:14 am

“Anyday now Girardi will realize that these guys aren’t robots and they need a day off”

He can’t give them all a day off. Then people will kill him for putting ST lineups out there and not playing to win.

Same thing with the way he uses the pen. We all know the top guys in the pen have been overused lately, yet look at the outrage yesterday when he used Proctor/Laffey.

He is in a no win situation until the big time players start performing in September for a change.

  16. LockDown September 11th, 2011 at 12:14 am

    Is austin on the 40man?

  17. stuart a September 11th, 2011 at 12:15 am

the banged up and tired excuses…

the yanks could have slept 12 hours last night. what they need 14?????????

injuries… how about no kendry morales for 2 years……….that a fairly importnat injury……….

  18. LockDown September 11th, 2011 at 12:16 am

Yes, play the B-lineup. The A-lineup is fried. Except not Nunez, he’s in the C-lineup

  19. Purenyyankee September 11th, 2011 at 12:16 am

This team thinks they are on a vacation.

  20. stuart a September 11th, 2011 at 12:16 am

the pen has not been overused. robertson will finish the year in the low 60 for appearancesw, mo will have less, wade and soriano far from overused.

    baffoon logan the same.

    they have not been overused………..

    this is just bull…

  21. Niblick September 11th, 2011 at 12:17 am

Somehow there’s one team in the league that’s tired, and 13 teams that aren’t. What total BS. With all the call-ups, the Yanks have plenty of pitchers and position players. They don’t need more. They need for Binder Joe to get his head out of his butt.

  22. 4time September 11th, 2011 at 12:17 am

CC has looked like crap since August 1. There’s something wrong with him – he’s giving up lots of hits, making way too many pitches, and not going long enough in games.

    ————-

Yep. He has gone from absolutely dominant to either solid/good or average. Racking up a lot of high pitch counts, which isn’t good. Considering how much the pen has worked lately, he needs to be able to give more length.

No excuse for the offensive futility though. They are tired? banged up? So is every other contender at this time of year.

  23. fantasygame101 September 11th, 2011 at 12:18 am

closed door meeting is what this team needs right now.

  24. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 11th, 2011 at 12:18 am

They lost. Get over it. Life isn’t fair. Neither was the hurricane and the rescheduling and no days off for the last two weeks. You pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start all over again.

Yankees are in the postseason. Sux have cooperated in the effort.

  25. JT September 11th, 2011 at 12:19 am

What’s concerning is that they were 85-30 last year and fell apart. Now, they seem to be falling apart at about the same point.

And Joe needs to stick Montero in between Tex and Cano.

  26. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 11th, 2011 at 12:19 am

No what the team needs right now is time to rest and revitalize and they aren’t going to get it. You think they’re not trying? They stone cold exhausted – and hurt.

  27. Niblick September 11th, 2011 at 12:20 am

It’s looking like 2010 all over again. Last year they had an excuse – Binder Joe wanted to tank the team so they would get the first round matchup he wanted. What’s the rationale for tanking this year?

  28. yankeefeminista September 11th, 2011 at 12:20 am

    Romine’s not on 40 man.

  29. fantasygame101 September 11th, 2011 at 12:21 am

rest, tired, etc. Good players plays thru them. Great players overcome them. What this team needs is a wakeup call and not pampering.

  30. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 11th, 2011 at 12:22 am

“What’s the rationale for tanking this year?”

    ARE YOU F’N SERIOUS?

It’s unimaginable that some posters are so flippin’ dense. See if you can figure it out. People have only mentioned it for the last week or so!

  31. Yankees_Fan September 11th, 2011 at 12:23 am

I think we need to play Emergency Select Tomorrow’s Lineup, brought to you by Ben Gay and 5 Hours Energy Drink:

Which lineup would you write for tomorrow, considering the injured, the tired and the mentally impaired (Nunez).

  32. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 11th, 2011 at 12:23 am

“rest, tired, etc. Good players plays thru them. Great players overcome them. What this team needs is a wakeup call and not pampering.”

    :D

Yeah because I’m sure you personally have done your best work when you’re exhausted right?

    Unbelievable.

  33. fantasygame101 September 11th, 2011 at 12:26 am

good players plays thru injuries. Unless they do not consider themselves as good then I will take the tired and injuries excuses. I would not comment on myself bec. it will be self deserving.

  34. fantasygame101 September 11th, 2011 at 12:28 am

For basketball fans, what makes me admire jordan more was the playoff games when he was tired and sick and still hit the crucial shot.

  35. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 11th, 2011 at 12:33 am

Yeah well basketball players don’t play 162 games. Maybe at the half way point of the season, this team could be making crucial plays when they were “tired and sick.”

Thankfully the majority of the posters on this forum get it and understand how the hurricane and the makeup games and extra travel and doubleheaders and no days off have conspired to beat the crap out of the team. Especially at the end of the season.

    Onward and upward.

  36. Nord September 11th, 2011 at 12:39 am

Anybody else notice that Gardner is a better hitter when he plays leadoff? And if Grandy and Tex aren’t hitting, move them down and others up. As for catcher, Martin peaked early in the year. Posada as catcher? Yikes.
