    “Rivera had saves on June 1, 2, 3 and 4 in 2004″

Torre sowing the seeds of disaster?

    LMAO!!!

  3. pkyankfan69 September 14th, 2011 at 1:50 pm

1-0 Jays already thanks to a few hits and a bb off Slackey

  4. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 1:50 pm

Here’s another random Rivera fact. God gave him the cutter. He said so. Who are we to argue!

    :)

  5. pkyankfan69 September 14th, 2011 at 1:51 pm

    2-0 LOL

  6. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 1:51 pm

Whoa, thought the Sux loss was tonight! Thanks for the heads up. Gotta tune in.

  7. blake September 14th, 2011 at 1:53 pm

Has Lackey cursed at one.of his infielders yet?

  8. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 1:54 pm

  9. blake September 14th, 2011 at 1:54 pm

In the chat….Chad seemed to.think the Yankees would make a major play for CJ Wilson…..short term he’d help a lot….its just the longterm Id be uneasy about.

  10. Shame Spencer September 14th, 2011 at 1:54 pm

Erin – We’ve had some pretty good exchanges here on the blog but I think the both of us assuming the other would use the handle “Chads Girls” to get his attention might be ranked #1.

  11. upstate kate September 14th, 2011 at 1:57 pm

I would have guessed Shame :)

  12. MTU September 14th, 2011 at 1:58 pm

    Blake-

Not interested in CJ,TJ,PJ,BJ or RJ Wilson.

    That should cover it.

    ;)

  13. pkyankfan69 September 14th, 2011 at 1:59 pm

Mike just blew PEDroia for hitting the ball off the wall… Its too bad it was actually Scootero

  14. Spudz September 14th, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Anyone thing that Soriano will opt out after this year?

  15. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 2:02 pm

At this point I think he would be crazy to.

  16. pkyankfan69 September 14th, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Anyone thing that Soriano will opt out after this year?
    ———————————-

Not a chance… The way he has pitched this year he is certainly not getting this kinda money elsewhere

  17. GreenBeret7 September 14th, 2011 at 2:03 pm

If God was a “True Yankee” fan, he would smite that idiot from California in the computer and show true mercy to the world.

  18. luis September 14th, 2011 at 2:03 pm

    Hi everyone,

    Spudz,

i think the chances of an asteroid hitting the earth are better than soriano optingout, :)

  19. disco stu September 14th, 2011 at 2:04 pm

“Mike just blew PEDroia for hitting the ball off the wall… Its too bad it was actually Scootero”

    LOL

… and if Bronson Arroyo were to miracuously come out of the BP and help Boston win today, his man crush fix will be complete.

  20. Shame Spencer September 14th, 2011 at 2:08 pm

Lol, thanks kate! Whats more amusing is when I saw it was plural, “Chad’s GirlS,” I thought perhaps you and Erin discussed which question you’d like to ask today lol!

  21. J. Alfred Prufrock September 14th, 2011 at 2:09 pm

Has Lackey cursed at one.of his infielders yet?
    ///

not watching, but I’m sure by now he’s struck one of those ugliest of all-time, gaping-mouth, if-looks-could-kill reproachful faces at one of them we’re so accustomed to seeing…

  22. m September 14th, 2011 at 2:10 pm

I think the Yankees would sign Wilson over pursuing Yu. They might put a bid in, but I don’t think they’ll go into Matsuzaka posting fee type of minefield.

I doubt Soriano opts out. But he needs to get comfortable pitching in the 7th and 8th.

  23. J. Alfred Prufrock September 14th, 2011 at 2:11 pm

    um, that’s BRAN-don Arroyo, no?

    /ARodded :D

  24. luis September 14th, 2011 at 2:12 pm

    JAP,

The sux are down 0-2, so probably he has already stared to fielders a couple of times already

  25. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 2:14 pm

“If God was a “True Yankee” fan, he would smite that idiot from California in the computer and show true mercy to the world.”

I’m thinking that the reason He isn’t doing that is because He feels that WCSF needs to atone for his faux rooting and the way that’s going to happen is for the rest of us to watch WCSF’s Suxers go down the drain and watch WCSF absolutely disintegrate. And the only way that can happen is through the advanced technology known as the computer.

    Just a thought.

    :D

  26. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 2:15 pm

Geeze, the Jays aren’t looking too spiffy in the field!

  27. J. Alfred Prufrock September 14th, 2011 at 2:15 pm

luis, that’s nothing in Fenway, but with Lackey on the mound, they’ll probably pile on….Francesa just said Blowsux have runners at 1st & 3rd with nobody out against Romero…

I’m in the car, so I’m jumping back and forth between Stupid and that shriller idiot on ESPN…at least Lupica is bowing down to His Mo-ness, as all should…but that voice…

  28. pkyankfan69 September 14th, 2011 at 2:17 pm

Lavarnway infield RBI single!!!!… He is the next Manny Ramirez

  29. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 2:17 pm

JAP, very strange stuff happening. Romero with wild pitches, Jays with errors in the field. Hope they pull it together because I hate to see gift runs go in the direction of the Suxers.

  30. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 14th, 2011 at 2:18 pm

But then again we can always count on Lackey to give the gift runs right back, and add even more.

    :)

    Later y’all.

  31. GreenBeret7 September 14th, 2011 at 2:18 pm

I’m still curious why anybody would go to an Angels-Yankees game and buy two tickets for himself, one behind the first base dugout and one behind the plate. Does anybody else smell BS coming from the west coast?

  32. Erin September 14th, 2011 at 2:19 pm

Shame-yes, I would agree. That was too funny.

  33. Erin September 14th, 2011 at 2:20 pm

BTW-did anybody come forward? I want to know who “Chad’s Girls” was!!!

    ;)

  34. luis September 14th, 2011 at 2:20 pm

    ///

Well, that’s not really fair, because as Yankee Trader will confirm, he’s two hitters in one: he does it the Lavern&Shirleyway….

By the way, I don’t remember who it was, but some “objective scout” recently said L&S had the edge as a power guy over Montero….

    Lavern&Shirleyway: .375 slug/.768 OPS (28 PA)

Jesus Montero, Superstar: .667/1.078 (34 PA)

I guess those three years he has on Jesus account for the difference :)

Considering most scouts werent impressed when the yanks drafted him, it’s good to hear people outside of the organization speak highly of his season:

    BenBadler Ben Badler
Yankees 3B Dante Bichette named MVP of the GCL. Been getting rave reviews around the league on him

    BenBadler Ben Badler
Not an overhaul, but they tweaked some things RT @SirSHERM I know its the GCL and all, but did he over haul his swing/approach

  45. hardwired7 September 14th, 2011 at 2:26 pm

  47. 86w183 September 14th, 2011 at 2:28 pm

I wouldn’t be shocked if Soriano opts out at all.

He only has $ 25 M guaranteed after this year and could probably top that… and the man HATES his new role.

I see him as a nice trade candidate if he does not opt out… high salary, but no long term commitment… and when right he’s a helluva closer

Interesting comments from Chad on the Live Chat. He seems to agree with me 100%. ;)

    ************************

Question: “How committed to Phil Hughes do you think Cashman is going forward in 2012?”

Chad: “I think the Yankees are fully committed to Hughes. His trade value is low, but his upside is still awfully high. No reason to back away from him now.”

    *************************

Question: “Do you see any way the Yankees will look at Joba as a starter again – or has that ship sailed long ago and forever?”

    Chad: “That ship sailed. Definitely.”

Your irrational, passive aggressive and gratuitous hatred of Chamberlain is ironic, considering how you ride a certain poster here for castigating Hughes… neither deserves either of your respective, clueless tripe.

Lupica is so stupid. They play the first chords of Enter Sandman and says ‘see, that’s manly man’s music…” too bad Rivera had nothing to do with it and doesn’t listen to Metallica…he listens to Christian Rock…

Unfortunately for your inane and absurd contention, I have no hatred for Hughes I like the guy. I just think he clearly did not have the skillset and makeup to be a starter and the Yankee organization happens to agree with that position. They do not see Hughes that way.

And I am sorry you think so poorly of Chad, considering what great insight and exposure he has to the Yankee players and management.

  56. blake September 14th, 2011 at 2:41 pm

I don’t think there is any way Soriano would get 25 million bucks on the open market…..there are a ton of closers available this winter and Soriano has stunk all year.

  57. Erin September 14th, 2011 at 2:44 pm

russellmartin55 RT @PhilHughes65 You just had to steal his thunder and gun down Ichiro for the final out huh? | #55 There is no thunder without lightning!

  58. 86w183 September 14th, 2011 at 2:47 pm

    blake that’s nonsense

    he’s had four lousy outings — 3 2/3 innings, 11 ER = 26.99 ERA

    his other 31 outings — 28 2/3, 4 ER = 1.26 ERA

And he’s better than most of the guys hitting the market

  59. blake September 14th, 2011 at 2:51 pm

    86,

He’s not better than Papelbon…..he’s not better than Heath Bell….who is going to give him a better contract than the one he has?…..I don’t see anybody. He’s been shaky most outings whether he’s given up a run or not and on top of that he was hurt half the year…….

  60. blake September 14th, 2011 at 2:54 pm

Believe me…Id love for him to opt out….but that’s wishful thinking

  61. upstate kate September 14th, 2011 at 2:57 pm

Erin, love the tweets, gotta love that Russell Martin.
When I was out at lunch time listening to the Kevin and Jim show, they were very complimentary regarding Martin’s skills, especially catching AJ.

  62. austinmac September 14th, 2011 at 2:57 pm

Soriano is as likely to opt out and give up $30M as I am to be one of the starters next year.

I do like Wilson, but I still believe he will re-up with the Rangers. They don’t let their pitchers go easily as we likely remember. It will take, I bet, a far bigger number than the Rangers offer to get hm to move. He likes it there, and isn’t a east coast guy.

  63. 86w183 September 14th, 2011 at 2:59 pm

I still think he is a big time talent… I suspect someone else does too.

I agree Papelbon is better… Bell about the same if you look at 2009-10 but Bell is also older and has similar numbers in baseball’s weakest division.

  64. blake September 14th, 2011 at 3:02 pm

Bell wasn’t hurt half the season either…..that’s always been one of the things with Soriano. His value isn’t anywhere close to where it was last winter. His best plan is to pitch great the rest of this year and next and then opt out……

anyone else noticin CC is havin a better yr this yr than last yr?

  67. blake September 14th, 2011 at 3:13 pm

Lackey getting really lucky….103 pitches through 5.

  68. J. Alfred Prufrock September 14th, 2011 at 3:17 pm

Not watching but Lackey had a 10-pitch or so showdown with Lind and I don’t know how it resolved, but I see he got out of it somehow. Too bad, Bautista was on…

Just hold it right there, Romero.

  69. J. Alfred Prufrock September 14th, 2011 at 3:22 pm

Lackey hits Lawrie to put leadoff on…at 108 pitches…middle relief not far off…

  70. blake September 14th, 2011 at 3:23 pm

They have 1st and 3rd with 1 out and line out to LF that was hit too hard to score the run and hard ground out to 1st base.

  71. blake September 14th, 2011 at 3:25 pm

  74. 108 stitches September 14th, 2011 at 3:38 pm

It would be a classy gesture (as only the Yankees can do) to have Jorge come out of the dugout in catching gear and be announced as the catcher for the final batter to give Mariano the record.
I’m sure there would be no objection from Russell Martin, Jesus Montero, or Austin Romine if this were to happen seeing as Jorge caught the majority of saves for all the years they were together.
It would probably bring the house down at the Stadium to see it.

  75. Erin September 14th, 2011 at 3:45 pm
