LoHud Yankees chat tomorrow

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on Sep 29, 2011 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Of course it’s raining on the day of the Yankee Stadium workout. This is supposed to a day for the Yankees and Tigers to get on the field before the division series, but it’s pouring right.

In this season of rain delays, it’s fitting.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that I’m hosting another chat tomorrow at noon. Stop by and we’ll talk all about the Yankees heading into the postseason. See you then!

so, everyone is sitting around the clubhouse with nothing but time to kill. obviously none of them have anything to say of interest to the readers of this blog, so there is no sense in even asking them or visiting the visitors locker room.

instead we get the weather report….

once they sit down at the podium and talk to the pool of reporters we might get some quotes and observations, but then not until after everyone else has already posted it somewhere else.

trisha, id give you the link to the extra bases blog, but pete would come down here and kill me himself

Would a fan attending a game next year at Fenway get more crap from wearing an Arod or Andino jersey????

just found this cool new site that can maybe help you find the extra bases blog:

In continuation of Schadenfreude Day, here’s a pretty funny piece by Bill Simmons,
a time line of Bill & a fellow Sox fan watching last night’s games:

    http://www.grantland.com/story.....y-game-162

    A sample:

7:39 — Somebody named Greg Golson flies out to end the top of the ninth — he looks like one of the fake Yankees who played against Billy Chapel’s team in For Love of the Game. He might be an actor. I’m not even kidding.

chad, here’e a hint, follow the signs that say “yankees clubhouse” go through the doors and when you see all big tall atheletic looking guys in there, picture them in a yankees uniform and maybe you will recognize who they are. then go ask them questions about baseball.

Has Gammons been heard from today? I think someone should check on him and make sure he is still together today.

  11. RayVT September 29th, 2011 at 1:58 pm

I posted this several days ago & I think it is still appropriate!

It’s true! It’s true! The Yankee crown has made it clear.
AL East climate must be perfect all the year.
A Gammons law was made a distant moon ago here:
July and August Saux cannot be too hot.
And there’s no legal limit to the snow here
    In Shamelot.
The winner’s chants are forbidden till December
which are repelled by Saux chants of wait till next year
And exits March the second on the dot when the mighty Yankees reappear.
By network order, Saux winning chants must linger through September
    In Shamelot.
    Shamelot! Shamelot!
I know it sounds a bit bizarre,
    But in Shamelot, Shamelot
    That’s how conditions are.
The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
    In short, there’s simply not
    A more congenial spot
    For happily-ever-aftering than here
Where dreams are sold & the truth never told than
    In Shamelot.
    Shamelot! Shamelot!
I know it gives a person pause,
    But in Shamelot, Shamelot
    Those are the legal laws.
The snow may never slush upon the hillside.
By nine p.m. the moonlight must appear.
    In Shamelot.
Another year has come and gone to shame just like last year
Where the Bronx came in & tears befell their foes
The haughty Saux fans Again this year will hear the chants
While Shouts of joy and victory ring from the real Camelot
The NY hills of Camelot! They Beat Shamelot,
    In short, there’s simply not
    A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering for real than here
    In Camelot! Not Shamelot!

What, are you expecting reporting? Isn’t stenograhpy what “journalism” has devoved into?

  13. Yank 97 September 29th, 2011 at 2:00 pm

On Tuesday, when I asked him about the collapse of the team, Gonzalez blamed the schedule, not the Almighty.

“We play too many night games on getaway days and get into places at 4 in the morning,” Gonzalez said. “This has been my toughest season physically because of that. We play a lot of night games on Sunday for television and that those things take a lot out of you.”

I told Gonzalez that teams like the Red Sox and Yankees have long had those challenges, it’s part of playing for a high-profile team.

“Why does it have to be?” he said. “They can put the Padres on ESPN, too. The schedule really hurt us. Nobody is really reporting that.”

One of the funniest things I’ve ever read on this blog was when Randy posted some picture of him and somebody he used to play with on a beach……and it was either JF or LGY that was arguing with him about something and they replied………”Im supposed to believe you because you know how to type “men on beach” into google……

now Im sure Randy’s photo was authentic but even he would have to admit that was funny…..:)

  16. Ys Guy September 29th, 2011 at 2:03 pm

again i will never criticize about the ‘god’s plan’ thing, thats nobody’s buisness. but how can a guy who just signed for a gazzillion dollars suggest that the padres should be on sunday night baseball?

if they were, you’d be making half of that contract stupid.

  17. blake September 29th, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Gonzalez very weak post game comments……

I like Gammons, but he’s taking this just a tad too personally – so much for being objective.

i hate paps, absolutely hate the guy. but he was a gamer and tried to give them more than he had, working 3/4 days and more than one inning each. losing bard killed paps and this team aceves was awesome despite his being overworked to heck, bard had nothing left and paps gave it all he had.

i still hate the guy but i think he was just asked to do too much.

    later for that jerk!

is he even at the stadium or watching on tv?

cant believe not one quote from a yankee or yankee official yet today. so many people would kill to have that access and would give us tons of stuff about what is going on, but here….

….well, we did get the weather report…

Thanks. I had already done that and got to the MLB site with an advertisement for Extra Bases.

Since I have more important things to do in life and hear people mention it here all the time I figured someone would provide a link. However, I’ll survive without it. Thanks for the assist.

    repost:

    1. Can I have a link to Extra Bases? People talk about it all the time but I haven’t ever read it.

    2. Sometimes things that people come up with amaze me so much that I come back with an emphatic response. That’s how sure I am that they are so wrong in their thinking! Now when I do that I obviously risk having it blow up in my face, since your words are there once you publish them But I will take the plunge here and say

CC SABATHIA WILL NEVER SIGN WITH ANY TEAM OTHER THAN THE YANKEES

It is beyond ludicrous to even think it’s a possibility. However the deal is done, it will be done.

    ****************

I’m still fascinated by the interplay of the Rays and Orioles games last night. If you were inclined to believe in higher-power orchestration – or baseball gods somewhere tucked away in a parallel universe – or the universe bringing about order – or even plain karma – you’d have to be scratching your head at the way both games played out. Did you know that Pedroia and Tex hit homers simultaneously? How about the bottom of the 9th, with 2 out and 2 strikes? I get chills thinking about it. Bottom of the 9th, 2 out, 2 strikes, and both games end up in ties. Seriously what are the chances of that happening almost ever? How about the chances of it happening in two games that are interdependent? It is freaky. Again I get chills thinking about it.

Almost to a sportscaster, last night is at the top of their list in baseball moments. Of course another former beantown team collapse was happening at the same time. And their collapse was also of monumental proportion.

Gammons said that a collapse like last night could leave a team “never the same” and he mentioned several teams that were never the same after some monumental event.

I’m loving it because it was this enormous collapse. I’m like “oh goody goody” but the implications for that team because of the enormity of the collapse are pretty staggering. Happy it’s them and not us. EEI broadcasters were saying that there is no part of that Sux team or organization that is not suspect, and they included every coach, the base running coach, and the administration.

True. Think of the “proctorization” theory:
If they were dumping then why use him last Sunday against the greatest team ever assembled.
All they did was stay consistent with the philosophy of preparing for the bigger prize by using him last night.

YS Guy are you for real? Chad works for the Journal News and has a newspaper to fill as well as writing for the blog. And, in case you hadn’t noticed, subscription to this blog is free. You’re getting all this information for nada, zilch. I am a sports nut – I follow many teams in many sports in both my native UK and my home now, the U.S.A – and I can tell you that very few blogs are updated as frequently as this one, or for that matter, are anywhere near as informative. So quit complaining.
