Teixeira, Cano and Gardner finalists for Gold Gloves
Baseball’s Gold Glove Awards are going prime time. Tomorrow night, ESPN2 will televise the first ever Rawlings Gold Glove Awards Show to announce each league’s top defensive player at each position.
Leading into the show, three finalists have been announced for each position. Tomorrow’s one-hour awards show begins at 10 p.m. ET.
The Yankees have three finalists.
First base
Adrian Gonzalez, Red Sox
Casey Kotchman, Rays
Mark Teixeira, Yankees
Second base
Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox
Robinson Cano, Yankees
Ian Kinsler, Rangers
Left field
Alex Gordon, Royals
Brett Gardner, Yankees
Sam Fuld, Rays
Russell Martin had a nice year behind the plate, but he’s not in the mix. Neither is Derek Jeter, who’s taken more heat than praise for his previous Gold Gloves. It’s worth noting that former Yankees prospect Austin Jackson is a finalist in center field.

What? No Carl Crawford for LF?
Thurman Martin is not a GG finalist?
Surely, you must be mistaken.
Gardner should win it hands down. They’ll probably give it to pedroia for second base, then we’ll get to see the highlights of he little guy hopping as each pitch is delivered.
If Brett Gardner does not win this will be a travesty, a mockery, a sham, a traveshamockery.
Youkilis being nominated has already made it a traveshamockery.
Prediction –
Adrian Gonzalez and P.E.D.roia will win .
Gardner will be the only Yankee gold glover this year.
Youkallis? At 3B? Is that a joke?
Youkilis being nominated has already made it a traveshamockery.

Jeter being left off balances it out
If Brett Gardner does not win this will be a travesty, a mockery, a sham, a traveshamockery.

And still there’s not a single homosexual on the jury.
So CC has until when to opt out? Midnight?
Yes, midnight.
Midnight on Halloween…..wonder why Soriano hasn’t made his decision official yet
No, 11:59PM
I see where the Braves picked up 10M of Lowe’s 15M contract and traded him to the Indians for a minor league player[quality unknown] . Lowe has 1 year left.
Until Sabathia decides if he’s coming back the Yankees can’t afford to entertain any offers for Burnett, even if there were any!
In the AFL today, David Phelps pitched 5 innings, 1 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts.
Ronnier Mustelier is 1-3 with a solo homer off of Gerrit Cole.
Rob Segedin is 1-2 with a double and a walk off of Cole.
Corbin Joseph is 1-3 with a double.
what about Curtis Granderson?
Something about that mustelier kid … Good to see Phelps improve over the past two outings.
Mustelier finished at 1-4
Segedin finished at 1-3
Joseph finished at 1-4
Daniel Burawa in 1 inning allowed 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 0 strikeouts. He took the loss
Preston Claiborne had 1 inning, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, 0 strikeouts
WOW!!! Hooters girls are true quality

Based on 1 pct information, 99 pct intuition, think #Yankees and CC working hard to get this done tonite in best interest of both sides

Grandyman should have been in top five at least… I’m assuming they’ll show that eventually .
He was incredible this year if you actually watched him and ignored the stat geeks..
Some one needs to hack the platinum glove award and vote Nunez
joel sherman is right. can’t imagine, really can’t, that either side wants to an opt out. cc’s agent is negotiating, with extreme prejudice.
gb – no kiddin’!
1% information? Is that like the brother of the cousin of the girl that works at hooters who heard info from a computer geek who ate there that has an unrequited love for the hot daughter of the guy who cuts CC’s lawn.
So is Sherman thinking that CC’s home will be the next to be occupied?
TRICK OR TREAT, SMELL MY FEET, GIVE ME SOMETHING GOOD TO EAT!!!
There was a house in the plat that always gave out apples. We grudgingly went there but automatically didn’t like the people that lived there for giving out apples. Later on I figured it was an elderly couple who maybe couldn’t afford anything else but apples. But that came much later. I resented them for a long time!!!

A reminder that Tex had such awesome value with his glove and saved a ton of runs at first, runs that had they scored, could have lost the Yankees games.
The glass in truly 1/2 full. You just have to tip it the right way!
Happy Halloween everyone.
I agree about Granderson. The guy is definitely an unsung hero and doesn’t get the kudos he deserves.
lockdown, yeah, somethin’ like that
but, i can really see them working hard tonight. cc wants his money, and he wants to be in ny. just based on what i’ve seen of him thru the media, i can imagine that he and his family just want a resolution, not necessarily top dollar, and are using the opt out to get more money from yanks.
i really can’t blame anyone for wanting what they can get. just ask yogi. if you read his bio by allan barra, yogi never walked away from a buck he was due.
nor would i.
I give the GG to Robby. I heard that no Titanic passengers were being given serious consideration as they weren’t really see worthy!
I can see Sabathia asking for 6 years at $24.5 mil per with weight clause incentives each year topping the season at $25 mil and an option for a 7th year maybe with some reachable incentives. He’d be the same age as Mussina and Pettitte were in their last season.
And finally, something I learned a very long time ago.
Believe nothing until you see it in print, with the Yankee imprimatur.
Everything else is speculation or sensationalization. Don’t be a party to such nonsense.
knock knock
“i really can’t blame anyone for wanting what they can get.”
You know, part of a sermon I heard in church yesterday really hit home in terms of people in general. I think it is very applicable in every walk of life.
Don’t ask anything that you’re not willing to do yourself. To do otherwise is hypocrisy.
Enough said.
Joe, I’ve been meaning to ask you this since I saw someone refer to you as Doc Joe and then saw you mentioning rounds! Do you have a specialization? I didn’t even know you were a doctor! Kudos to you.
And shouldn’t you have someone to plow your driveway instead of having to do it yourself? (or did I misunderstand when you were talking about last season’s snow)
trish,
Don’t ask whom for what?
Cashman’s mission: Occupy CC’s checkbook
maybe the reason cashman’s press conference wasnt today was he was busy meeting with CC.
Hopefully get this out of the way so we dont have to wait and see before choosing what to go for like last year with Lee.
tom, well in church it was said in the context of trying to set a good example. Don’t ask someone else to live a moral life (for example) if you yourself are not living a moral life. To do so would be hypocrisy.
It hit me that it’s a good mantra for everything in life.
So don’t ask CC not to take the most money he can squeeze out of the Yankees – if he is to do that – if you yourself would be trying to squeeze the most money you could out of your boss. To do otherwise is nypocrisy.
