Enjoy it while it lasts: Baseball on TV tonight
The World Series is over, but there will be baseball on television tonight.
Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson are headlining a group of MLB all-stars on a five-game exhibition tour of Taiwan. The group arrived Sunday, and Jack Curry writes that Cano was the pop star of the group. MLB even tweeted a picture of Cano surrounded by admiring flight attendants. Curry also wrote about Granderson settling into a kind of ambassador role, and MLB.com wrote about Cano being on the trip with his father.
You can watch the first game of the exhibition series tonight at 9 p.m. ET on MLB Network. The other games will be played on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Looking for another Yankees connection? It turns out the major of New Taipei City used to live in New York and calls himself a Yankees fan. And if you’d like to follow along, be sure to keep up with Cano’s twitter feed. He’s been tweeting like a mad man over there.
Just a heads up: The games are not being broadcast live. If you’d like to know what happened in the opener, click here.

Hey GB, Trisha -
I don’t comment much on all of the Yankee happenings, but computers are what I do and what I have been doing for many, many years. Saw a bit of your back and forth about RealPlayer, and had to offer my 2 cents. My experience has led me to stay far, far away from anything from RealNetworks. Their player has historically been intrusive and almost spyware-like, and just today I saw a story about them killing off one of their DRM formats — which means any songs purchased from them with that DRM will no longer play, unless you burn them to a CD (in CD format) and then re-rip them to MP3, before they kill the DRM servers. Sure this particular issue won’t really affect Trisha, but Real is one of those companies that always seems to do the wrong thing by their customers — at least in my experience.
If you mainly want to rip CDs, use something like MusicMatch (if it still exists) or iTunes (yeah, it’s Apple, with all of the over-controlled-ness that entails, but it’s also very well-designed).
stanzy, I just responded to you on the previous thread!
My reading of Cashman’s statement about Darvish “we know what risks we are willing to take” says to me he may well be such a risk. If the scouts really believe in him, then I think the Yankees are in big time.
the one on the right has eyes for robbie.
mick, I swear if they had a superlative for best smile in his high school, Robby would have walked away with it hands down. He has the greatest smile I’ve ever seen!!! What a happy kid. His parents definitely did a wonderful job with him. Happy, good kid, never complains, thrilled to be playing ball, thrilled to be playing for the Yankees.
Just seeing him makes me smile!
Must be part of the culture to cross your hands in front of your crotch during pictures unless the girls are just excited
actually the one to his right looks like she’s with him.

Tetraphobia is a fear of the number 4, which exists in Taiwan. There’s no 4 on the elevator in my hotel. Naturally, my room is on 13th floor
crossing your crotch is the oriental sign for virginity i believe…
YankeeRay –
tomingeorgia, if you’re around, I answered you in the previous thread.
GO YANKEES!!!
From Extra Bases:
“Buster Olney said on WEEI earlier today that Pete Mackanin impressed the Yankees during his tenure as a scout in 2008 and might have become manager had Joe Girardi left for the Cubs last year.”
Does Buster just make up stuff? Who told him that Mackanin might have become manager if the Girardi left?

A little voice inside his head!
Awww, so nice to see Guthrie on the mound and all of the MLBrs together.
I’ve always really respected him as a pitcher. His record never reflects just how good he really is.
Nice to know that the Yankees can’t get hit by a pitch with Guthrie on their team.
Nice play by Cano. I miss Yankees baseball

Mark Cuban Offered To Buy Dodgers, Could Bid Again
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 1 at 8:23pm CST]
Mark Cuban has interest in buying the Dodgers, but not unless the team’s price drops. The high-profile Dallas Mavericks owner says he offered to buy the Dodgers from owner Frank McCourt several months ago, according to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times. However, McCourt wanted $1-1.2 billion for the team, so Cuban held his cash.
“At that price, I wasn’t interested,” Cuban told Shaikin.
Cuban, who has bid on the Cubs and Rangers in the past, won’t rule out buying the Dodgers if the price drops under $1 billion. McCourt and MLB are nearing an agreement on a bankruptcy settlement, according to Shaikin. Under the agreement, McCourt would sell the team, giving prospective owners a chance to purchase one of MLB’s premier franchise

I think I’m on board for a Gardy-Grandy-Grady outfield.
They’re g-g-g-r-r-r-r-r-e-a-t!
Gardy-Grandy-Belty would be ok, too, I guess.
I’d be in trouble if this was a drinking game.
.
Announcer: If that average was at .282 instead of .262, would he be your favorite for MVP?
Larry Bowa: No question.

Lol is that how the whole broadcast is going?
“is that how the whole broadcast is going?”
No question.
So they are waiting until 11 PM on a Tuesday to release the gold gloves?
That’s smart. I’m sure the world is waiting with bated breath.
They wanted to wait until 11 AM in Taiwan so Robbie can watch.
Weiters won it over Martin?
WARNING- UPCOMING RANT…
(Please excuse my attitude in this post…)
Baseball __IS NOT__ (and was not) on TV tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baseball is on MLB.com, and on cable TV if you subscribe to MLB.
I think this profit-based, narrow-casting is one of the biggest reasons why baseball is going down as a favorite sport. As a result, Baseball is no longer “America’s Pastime”.
Major League Baseball, the Commissioner, the Baseball owners, the MLB network and all the rest would really benefit from thinking a little more about how to gain and keep the interest of the entire American public.
END OF RANT…
Wow… Gardner seriously didn’t take home a GG?

Right… Because the NBA and the NFL would never broadcast games on their own networks.

Somehow I’m not suprised that Cano is enjoying himself.
