Hi Trisha. This Yahoo group is my group and I issue the invites. To do so I need email addresses. Can we exchange through Chad or do I need to post an email address?
Anyone interested in joining the group could you please indicate your interest. No emails please on LoHud.

it?s sad that santo didn?t live long enough to see it. it has to be bittersweet for his family. and the guy never complained. just lived his life. i wonder how many of the people who put off voting for him would have done in their fields with having to deal with his medical issues.

And, it’s a travesty, in my opinion, that allie reynolds continues to be neglected. he was arguably the best pitcher of his era.

  7. LGY December 5th, 2011 at 12:32 pm

I completely forgot Erick Bedaaahd is a free agent.

Should bring him in as a LOOGY ;)

AP reporting NFL has caught 11 players for substance abuse. :-(

2 Washington Redskins suspended for the balance of the year.

    A few thoughts:

    1. Oh Jon Heyman…it is his opinion that Pujols has to prove he’s only 31 and that until he does, Prince is the better long term option for teams. hhmmmm…the second best FA 1b on the market is a Scott Boras client and all of a sudden Heyman has the claws out for Pujols…shocking.

    2. As much as I enjoy seeing the Mets lose a good player to a division rival and get back only a 3rd round pick – I think this is going to come back and bite the Marlins. They’re investing a ton of money and years in a player with a poor attitude and injury issues – not only that but by doing so they are forcing their best player (who has been known to have an attitude of his own) to change position – something he’s reportedly reluctant to do. Meaning Ozzie, who is not known for his ability to manage a clubhouse, is going to have an unhappy superstar to deal with right out of the gate.

    3. Manny Ramirez making a comeback – good for him. As a Yankee fan I have no interest but he would make sense for a team like the Twins that desperately need right handed power in their lineup. The only problem is that he can’t play the field and Minny will want to get Mauer a lot of time at DH to keep him healthy.

    4. If it costs the Yankees nothing other than a minor prospect with no real value then I would have no problem getting Thornton.

Well I apparently have another stalker, one who also gets my information wrong!

    Oh goody.

  11. blake December 5th, 2011 at 1:15 pm

SI_JonHeyman 2 mins #yankees wouldn’t give up either banuelos or montero for danks. Chisox requested both. Yanks do like danks tho.

  12. Bret The Hitman December 5th, 2011 at 1:18 pm

    Blake,

Told ya Kenny Williams was demanding Montero. Can we stop talking about him yet?

  13. Irreverent Discourse December 5th, 2011 at 1:18 pm

keep it yankees. personal talk has no place here.

  14. blake December 5th, 2011 at 1:21 pm

“Can we stop talking about him yet?”

You can if you want…..I don’t believe that will be the final price though……just a super high first request.

  15. Irreverent Discourse December 5th, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Why wouldn’t you ask for Montero first?

  16. Bret The Hitman December 5th, 2011 at 1:23 pm

    Blake,

I doubt Kenny Williams is as reasonable as you’d like him to be. He’s holding a lefty with top-rotation potential in a pitching thin market. For Montero and/or Banuelos, Cashman should be getting a much better starter than Danks.

  17. Joe from Long Island December 5th, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Chip – I think you’re right about Reyes and the Marlins. That deal is going to haunt them in the years ahead. Actually, I’d like the Red Sox to be haunted by another Crawford type deal, but, hey……. ;)

Yes, once Kenny Williams comes to his senses, a mL pitcher for Thornton would make a good deal of sense for the Sox. Warren, of maybe Mitchell. Not one of the B’s, nor Mark Montgomery.

  18. trisha - true pinstriped blue December 5th, 2011 at 1:25 pm

“lol I havent been here in months and I immediately see references to myself. ”

You’ll forgive me if I don’t believe you.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    Later y’all. And good luck.

  19. blake December 5th, 2011 at 1:26 pm

“I doubt Kenny Williams is as reasonable as you’d like him to be. ”

Maybe not….but he wont be able to move him at that price with any team.

  20. Irreverent Discourse December 5th, 2011 at 1:27 pm

trisha – that would be a fantastic coincidence wouldn’t it :) every time i buy a lottery ticket i win, i just never buy lottery tickets. :p

  21. Bret The Hitman December 5th, 2011 at 1:27 pm

    Blake,

But I bet he’ll get a top prospect for him.

  22. DONNYBROOK December 5th, 2011 at 1:27 pm

I agree. Williams is gonna horse trade and ask high and come down from there. I still believe the Yanks are waiting on Darvish. They aint gonna dig into that cookie jar of cheap, young talent if they can get Darvish For Dollars. I still see only the Yanks, Boston, and Texas as the players at the table regarding Darvish bid $$$$.

  23. Irreverent Discourse December 5th, 2011 at 1:27 pm

blake – in all likelihood he wouldn’t want that from any other team. Other GM’s don’t want to improve the Yankees, and go out of their way to take lesser deals from other teams as a result…

    Joe -

Given his price tag I even think that’s too high for Thornton. I wouldn’t give up anything more than a couple of C level guys – a Kevin Whalen/Colin Curtis type.

  25. Bret The Hitman December 5th, 2011 at 1:29 pm

It’s possible the Yankees scouts love Darvish. His stuff looks good and his poise…but I worry about mound dimensions and the different type of baseball they use in Japan. There’s so many factors that are difficult to translate. It’s a huge risk to pay huge dollars to a player who dominates in the Japanese league.

  26. blake December 5th, 2011 at 1:30 pm

“But I bet he’ll get a top prospect for him.”

Depends on that definition of “top”…..Montero and Banuelos would be like asking Texas for Perez and Profar……that’s crazy and nobody is going to do that for a guy that’s about to become a FA coming off a down year……also his salary takes a lot of teams out of the running.

  27. Chip December 5th, 2011 at 1:32 pm

How about Danks and Thornton for Gardner, Warren and Gary Sanchez?

Williams gets a ML player (and leadoff hitter) a ML ready pitcher and a top prospect while also clearing some salary.

  28. Bret The Hitman December 5th, 2011 at 1:32 pm

    Blake,

He’s going to get an A-prospect for Danks. Bank on it.

  29. blake December 5th, 2011 at 1:32 pm

    ID,

KW doesn’t really have a history of operating like that.

  30. Bret The Hitman December 5th, 2011 at 1:33 pm

    Chip,

I don’t like that deal. It’s too pricey.

  31. LGY December 5th, 2011 at 1:34 pm

    What is an A prospect?

    Top 25, 50, 100?

  32. blake December 5th, 2011 at 1:34 pm

“He’s going to get an A-prospect for Danks. Bank on it.”

He might…..but there are varying degrees of ” A prospects.” Also one is different than 2.

  33. spidanyc December 5th, 2011 at 1:36 pm

I think Cashman wants both Darvish and Danks with the idea of getting rid of AJ for scraps. Would anyone know if Freddy Garcia can be traded right now even though he just re-signed?

    CC
    Darvish
    Danks
    Nova
    Hughes

  34. Chip December 5th, 2011 at 1:37 pm

    Bret,

Not really – you’re not sacrificing anyone who can’t be replaced. Sanchez is the top guy going to Chicago and at 19 and in A ball he’s far enough away that the Yankees part with him and not have it impact the next three or four seasons. Especially with the team’s depth at the position.

Warren is talented, but the Yankees have a lot of arms that are nearly ML ready who might be better than him.

Gardner would hurt – but you go out and sign Cespedes and play him in LF.

  35. Bret The Hitman December 5th, 2011 at 1:37 pm

What is an A prospect? I’ll tell you now straight up front what it’s not.

It’s not Romine, Noesi, Warren, Phelps, Mitchell, Betances.

It’s not any of the grab bag of nothing fans want to throw at KW for Danks.

  36. DONNYBROOK December 5th, 2011 at 1:40 pm

I believe Thornton has 2yrs\ $12 Mill remaining on his contract. That figures into the Yankee equation with the new CBA. The only significant contract the Yanks are gonna consider for a player Not presently on the roster is Darvish. The next chunk of $$$ goes for a Cano extension. Cashman is already floating the trial ballons regarding Grandy. Yanks are gonna be doing business a lot differently as 2014 approaches.

  37. blake December 5th, 2011 at 1:43 pm

    Betances isn’t an A prospect?

  38. DONNYBROOK December 5th, 2011 at 1:50 pm

I find it amusing and frustrating that the Yanks are gonna instill Montero as pretty much a full-time DH. They do this AFTER giving Damon the boot and saying they wanted to keep the DH Hole free to rotate regulars thru for rest. Throw in the wasted roster spot onna 3rd Catcher, and Montero in the DH Slot is not only contradictory but it’s wasteful.
