Difference between today and yesterday? “Nope”
Brian Cashman just met with the Yankees beat writers. The first question was whether he feels any closer to a move today than yesterday. His answer was simple.
“Nope.”
Cashman said he’s met with general managers and agents since arriving in Dallas. He said there are upgrades available on the trade market, but the asking prices are so high that he’s not seriously considering any offers. He said his meetings with agents have been “informative” but not necessarily productive.
I’ll have more soon, but that’s the general idea. As expected, not much has changed in the past 24 hours.

I guess Ramirez is no Michael Young.
Chad,
Ask him if he’s really on the phone as he breezes past the writers in the lobby.

You’re an idiot. There are obvious exceptions to every rule. Just as I would trade for Felix despite him pitching in a huge park and under no pressure I would trade for Linc. You also have basic reading issues as I specified that I wouldn’t trade for an OLD nl pitcher.
But hey, if you want to buy high on Gio or spend 12 nil on a 37 year old Kuroda what do I care? You don’t get to make these decisions any more than I do. I will sleep well knowing Cash is smarter than that.
Sign Darvish. Kuroda also. Dump AJ. ( enough already )
Hughes, if he doesn’t make it as a SP in ST, to the pen again, where he’s done well.
Keppinger would be a good piece to add.
Find someone to take Ohsosorryano and get Madson.
Also need a good left specialist guy. M. Gon. ?

Or Alex Rodriguez or Miguel Cabrera (who made 3 position moves)
4NYY – Get rid of Soriano for Madson? Man, your ideas are usually pretty bad but… that one…
Michael Young demanded a trade last year.
After the Rangers shopped him the last 3 years and moved him all over the infield to make a spot for other players.
Yeah, last year was not the first time they tried to get rid of Young by way of trade or straight up inconvenience :p

I believe you’re right but he’s also been moved to another position 3-4 times.
I’d probably get tired of having to move and learn another position every other year too.
If the report about Hanley is true, which hasn’t been confirmed, he’s no different than Young.

Madson has had 4-5 good yrs. in a row, with last yr. his best.
Soriano just doesn’t fit in N.Y. IMO
Opinions, we all have one.
Michael Young doesn’t have the reputation of being a selfish headcase.
Buster_ESPN 27 mins Exec: white sox asking for ‘ubaldo Jimenez package’ for John Danks.
Kenny will get real at some point if he wants to move him.

Coming from you that means little
Who can we find to call you an idiot so you’ll believe it?

Come on, you knew that was an asinine stretch when you made it. Yes obviously stay away from Linc because he should be treated exactly the same as Kuroda. Be better than that.
You’re asking for a lot Chip.
Oh and stay clear of Cole too while you’re at it…just dumb.
My call on this, if you’re not going after Darvish stand pat in the rotation, someone stinks…promote from within and hope that a bunch of the guys currently slated to become free agents get there.
“Come on, you knew that was an asinine stretch when you made it. Yes obviously stay away from Linc because he should be treated exactly the same as Kuroda. Be better than that.”
It was an asinine stretch to say you don’t trust NL pitchers.
“Who can we find to call you an idiot so you’ll believe it? ”
I wish I could give you names but my opinion of myself is far too inflated to believe anyone that thinks I’m an idiot.
Yanks need to tweak: 1 SP – preferably a lefty, 1 RP – preferably a lefty, 1 utility OF.
Done.

It’s because I know the ability is there…Patrick just got a little lazy was all
GB……Hard to believe it’s been 37 years since the Murcer / Bonds trade…Then of course we have the Catfish signing on New Years Eve……There’s more flip flopping here than a freshly caught stripper ……SJ says hi….
Oh by the way GB, when it was mentioned a few nights ago about Hanely pissing and moaning about being moved off short we were deemed crazy fortaking that stance……

What stance did you take? Because he’s pissing and moaning now.. Hanley is a dope, shut up and play. He sucks at SS anyways, he’ll help the team more at 3B. I doubt a trade comes of this though, the Marlins wouldn’t trade him..
It was an asinine stretch to say you don’t trust NL pitchers
—————-
What I said was that I don’t trust old nl pitchers, especially those who play for bad teams on divisions full of pitcher’s parks. Not only does that not apply to Linc, but it also doesn’t apply to kershaw, latos or a host of other nl pitchers.
Or have you seen many old pitchers come from the nl and thrive in the al. Curt Schilling comes to mind. Any others?
Yeah Hanley’s totally at fault. I’m SURE. Jeter would’ve been thrilled to move to short when the yanks brought in Alex.
“I will sleep well knowing Cash is smarter than that.”
you go to sleep thinking about cashman ?
just don’t leave the candles burning on the altar
you don’t want to burn the house down.
Wonder if Nurse Karloff is carrying clubs for an old catcher friend of ours ???
Chip,
You qualified your statements as I was writing my post, I didn’t see your post about how not all NL pitchers apply.
Old NL pitchers, I don’t know does Randy Johnson count? He had two reasonably good seasons with the Yankees. Jon Leiber came from the cubs to the Yanks he was good for a bit. Dan Haren has flipped leagues and been good in both.
It’s tough to think back and remember all the guys that switched leagues but I don’t see how age plays into it. One of your chief examples was Javy Vazquez, he was still young when he came to the Yanks the first time.
The thing deemed crazy was the Marlins trading Hanley.
If Hanley wont play 3B for the Marlins …..will he play RF or LF for the Yankees with the condition that Jeter let’s him shag some at SS during BP?
Cash is doing a remarkable job. Due to the very high asking price by other GM’s, Cash really has a very easy decision.
Pass on all these offers and live to fight another day.
GM’s really have a lot of nerve to “steal” players from opposing teams. Could be a sucker is born everyday, but currently there is no such thing in the Yankees front office.
BRAVO CASH!!!
Yeah Hanley’s totally at fault. I’m SURE. Jeter would’ve been thrilled to move to short when the yanks brought in Alex.

Haha Jeter was at fault for not moving too! He should have moved and it hurt the team when he didn’t.
Before you go believing Enrique Rojas over the Marlins beat writers who have shot down the report, keep in mind Rojas is the guy who reported on national TV Phil Hughes had a cyst removed.
Jeter not moving off of short hurt the Yanks , really ??? Can’t imagine Alex being able to play short for the past 5 seasons at least…
pat m
i dropped her off at Dr. Joseph Purita’s place, who runs the Institute of Regenerative & Molecular Orthopaedics in Boca Raton, Fl . he’s the one who had such great results with bartolo colon.
before they begin the stem cell treatments they are carbon dating her first to make sure of her age for the before and after photos.
she should be ready to resume her pursuit of gb7 in no time.

Maybe, maybe not. A-rod was always the better fielder though and at the time it hurt the Yankees.
Tin Cup….Well if that’s true then GB wouldn’t be able to outrun her……What’s your take on the love for Darvish here ??? I like Gio but then again I see him a lot more than just vs. The Yanks….Punchout type left handers are worth paying for……
No, Gomez reported that Hughes had a cyst removed. Pedro Gomez.
Woops. My bad. You’re right.
@Jon_Heyman: #rangers offer to cj wilson believed to be about 60 for 4. Again, if he has legit 6-yr offer, he should take it
If the Yankees can get Wilson for 4/60 they should do it.
“What’s your take on the love for Darvish here ???”
pat m-
i’m not interested at all. the yankees have worked hard at developing their young pitchers. no one in the league is that strong. i don’t see any reason why the yankees would spend heavily for a pitcher like darvish.
I’d trust any story that says that Hanley is not happy over any that refutes that.
He doesn’t have the reputation of being a team player in the first place. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if he chose to share his (understandable) displeasure.
I’m not going to judge these guys for being displeased that another guy was brought in to replace them. It’s only human nature.
We’ll see if Hanley really is “super professional”.
How did Jeter not moving hurt the Yankees? Please advise.
It was Graig Nettles opinion that Rodriguez was a better option at third than Jeter would be because Rodriguez had faster hands and a better arm. That was Nettles job that spring…working with Rodriguez.
