Baseball America is reporting three more minor league signings for the Yankees.
Outfielders Dewayne Wise and Cole Garner have agreed to minor league deals, so has right-handed pitcher Adam Miller.
Of the three, Wise might be the most recognizable name — he’s the guy who made that leaping catch to preserve Mark Buehrle’s perfect game — but Miller might be the most interesting addition. Once considered a top prospect, Miller missed two year because of injury before reemerging as a minor league reliever last season. Matt Eddy compares the signing to last year’s deal with Mark Prior.
Wise has quite a bit of scattered big league time, and Garner got some big league time last year after putting up good numbers in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Those two are obvious outfield depth to make up for Greg Golson’s release and the fact Chris Dickerson and Justin Maxwell are out of options.
Some other notable minor league names…
• The Reds made their Major League deal with Andrew Brackman official.
• The Pirates signed right-hander Logan Kensing, who pitched for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season.
• The Marlins agreed to a minor league deals with Chad Gaudin and Nick Green.
