Anymore, guys are placed on the DL with ANY ailment. There are even guys on the DL with “anxiety” disorders. I mean come on. Climbing the minor league ranks, and reaching and staying in The Bigs is fraught with “anxiety”. This is like a firefighter being out on paid medical leave because he can Not stand high temperatures. MLB has allowed the DL to turn into a haven to stash players until a roster situation sorts itself out.

    Positive development.

    1. Put Garcia on the DL with a tired arm — though they could also claim he has whiplash from watching Tigers’ rockets.

    2. Send down Cody Eppley (sorry kid, but you’re done for 3-5 days anyway) and call up Dwayne Wise to get another position player on the bench.

    3. Insert Phelps into the rotation

    that should help

  4. JK April 29th, 2012 at 10:13 am

This is a weird move with CC on the mound today… Freddy to DL & Phelps to rotation should be next shoes to drop

  5. 86w183 April 29th, 2012 at 10:20 am

I don’t mind the move if they park Freddie somewhere, but they can’t keep carrying 13 pitchers.

Good question for today: Should the Yanks pick up Abreu and drop/move Ibanez?

  6. Hassey April 29th, 2012 at 10:22 am

does Cashman have enough pull in the Darien underworld to get Garcia Shanghai-ed before his next start?

  7. 86w183 April 29th, 2012 at 10:29 am

I was thinking Garcia for John Lannan might be a decent financial swap/change of scenery type move. Washington has Lannan making $ 5 M in AAA ball.

If Lannan can’t start in the NL I doubt he could3start in the AL east.

Good morning MTU and JAP and YF

    Good morning, Comet and all.

Chad, thanks for the update on DJ, saves me a trip to Allentown. Hoping C keeps the bullpen fresh.

Morning, comet et al. Interesting waiting for the other shoe to drop.

TY Chad, for getting this to us in a timely fashion.

Saved me a ride out to Allentown.

JK, I guess they don’t want DJ taking his turn today, so he can be available back up Hughes o Tuesday, since Phelps is almost certainly taking Freddy’s next turn. If they’d left him down, he would have pitched today.

    Haha!
    :D
    Saved us both a trip!

    ‘morning, Comet, et al.

It’s exciting that both Phelps and DJ are in the house at the same time. Sends a good message to Warren, and gives Dellin and Manny further incentive to get it together.

    :D

JackCurryYES As Yanks are poised 4 changes, stats to digest. Starters have 6.37 ERA, 2d worst in MLB, and 7 starts under 5 inns, tied for worst in MLB

  15. yankeefeminista April 29th, 2012 at 10:42 am

lol, Pruf. Glad I didn’t travel to Pa., especially have just been there–not for Michael O’Connor… Brett Marshall pitching today for Trenton, you going? I am definitely going to go watch Hughes pitch Tuesday, hoping for the best. Even if Hughes pitches well, DJ might get in there b/c Hughes hasn’t been able to keep down his pitch count.

  16. yankeefeminista April 29th, 2012 at 10:42 am

    *having just

  17. J. Alfred Prufrock April 29th, 2012 at 10:43 am

    86,

I would, but I don’t think they’re unhappy with Ibanez.

  18. yankeefeminista April 29th, 2012 at 10:43 am

Not worried about ERA this early and we have faced some pretty good hitting teams…

  19. J. Alfred Prufrock April 29th, 2012 at 10:45 am

    yankeefem,

I had already put Marshall on the back burner for DJ.

Plus I want to watch C set it right today.

I’m crazy to watch C pitch.

And people think Cashman should keep his job…

He has put together a train wreck of a baseball team.

  21. DONNYBROOK April 29th, 2012 at 10:46 am

Pujols with roughly 90 PA and NO HR’s? And now the Angels simply cut Abreu and throw $9 Mill into the wind? The extra Wild Card is probably saving a lot of jobs in the Anaheim front office. Moreno has gotta be havin’ a cow.

  22. J. Alfred Prufrock April 29th, 2012 at 10:55 am

Good one tonight on ESPN (8:05 ET):

Rays at Rangers in matchup of lefties: Price vs. Holland.

  23. mick April 29th, 2012 at 10:58 am

it’s time for a kitchen knife accident.
    don’t wanna hurt freddys feelings…
