Nix coming up to add bench depth

With Brett Gardner and Nick Swisher out, and now Eric Chavez’s status uncertain, a source has confirmed the Yankees will call up utility man Jayson Nix from Triple-A to serve as an extra infielder and outfielder. I believe it was Sweeny Murti who first reported the move.

Nix has big league experience at second, third, short, left and right. He spent some time on the disabled list earlier this year and has played in only eight games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but obviously the Yankees trust his experience.

Not sure about the corresponding move. The Yankees have been carrying an extra pitcher and could send one down.
