Yankees drop another one in Kansas City

When the Yankees got to town, the Royals had lost 10 consecutive home games. Now the Yankees need a win in tomorrow’s series finale just to salvage a split of this four-game series. Not much went right for the Yankees in tonight’s 5-1 loss. The offense took a step back, an error led to the Royals first run and Hiroki Kuroda couldn’t pitch out of the fifth inning. Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano combined for one hit, and those three went down in order after Curtis Granderson led off the eighth inning with a double, the Yankees best chance for a late rally. Kuroda allowed three runs through 4.1 innings. One of those runs was unearned because of Derek Jeter’s first-inning error. Russell Martin’s home run gave the Yankees their only run.
