Quick injury updates from the Yankees clubhouse
Quick injury updates from the clubhouse…
• Ivan Nova hurt his ankle fielding that chopper in the sixth inning. He was still limping after the game and Joe Girardi admitted that it’s possible he’ll have to miss a start, but the team’s really not sure about the severity. “We’re going to have to see how he feels tomorrow,” Girardi said.
• Dave Robertson was not available tonight becuase of lingering soreness in the left side of his ribcage. He felt it on Friday and has been waiting for it to go away, but he still felt it while playing catch today and he’ll likely go for tests tomorrow. Robertson said there’s some concern, but he doesn’t expect this to be a big deal.
• Raul Ibanez has a nasty mark on his right elbow after being hit by a pitch, but he said he could probably play tomorrow if necessary. The Yankees are facing a lefty starter, so it’s unlikely Ibanez would have been in the lineup anyway.
• Clay Rapada has the same head cold that’s been going around the Yankees clubhouse a little bit. Girardi said he’ll have to check with him tomorrow, but it sounds likely Rapada won’t be available tomorrow.

=======================
that is a good average for a troll.
********
Naaahh – not a troll – I keep telling posters at the other boards I go to that lohud is the place where the trolls are running the asylum with their constant idealization of a Yankees team they wanted to see w/ Cano/Montero – and they take that anger out on the current team, manager, and management – that is what is so fascinating about this place – the trolls are running the blog – – – – -
I was channel surfing between the NYY and the NYR, but didn’t Nova also get hit in the leg by a batted ball? That’s what Singleton seemed to be saying.
Lol u think the ppl that bring up.Montero are trolls?
he got hit early in the game

of course, why can’t they be considered that?

What are you kidding me?
The only generational hitter LOHUD pines for is Melky Cabrera. The only trade we blast is the Vazquez trade. The only player we rave about in 2012 and talk about 24/7 on LOHUD is Melky Cabrera. He is the next Mickey Mantle and we pray the Yankees sign him and bring him back to where he belongs. He is the son. He is our savior. Amen.
Robertson said there’s some concern, but he doesn’t expect this to be a big deal.
——-
Hopefully no big deal.
And no fake Yankees fan boy love for the return debut of Matt Tracy – - – - disappointing – - – - of course I am waiting for the poetics that extol Mason William’s third homerun tonight – but then again – no prospects matter anymore to these fake fan boys – as they will never measure up to the disinherited Son. . . .
Yes Rich, he was hit in the foot by a liner…I thought that the foot was the reason of the limping…Later on it was notified that he twisted the ankle, which i find somewhat surprising, because i saw the replay of the play and he never seemed to have made a bad move with it. But i am no doctor.
“Lol u think the ppl that bring up.Montero are trolls?”

Thanks, luis. Barring a very quick and 100% complete recovery, there’s nothing wrong with letting Phelps take his next start.

They are not trolls. Hell even the ppl that bash were in favor of the trade are trolls.
This club is turning into the walking wounded.
Melky has a .900 OPS and plays a position of need so why in the world would we waste our breath circle jerking all over a .700 OPS DH with a OBP well below .300. You think the SABR world is that naive?
How dare fans don’t wax poetic about some guys in Low-A who are 3+ years away from even sniffing the majors
Those guys have a hell of a long way to go before they even get to where Montero is right now. They are all projection. Montero could be an all-star bat as early as this season or next.
But i am no doctor.
==============
but you slept in a Holiday Inn last night?
Stoneburner,
Excuse me, but you must be so full of yourself that you obviously no longer read the posts in here, where there is plenty of discussion of other prospects and players. If go to the game thread you will find at least one post from me saying how good Boone have been and was in tonight’s game.
I suggest two things i your case:
1) Keep an open mind
2) Lose the Montero fixation

You will have to translate that.
“Melky has a .900 OPS and plays a position of need so why in the world would we waste our breath circle jerking all over a .700 OPS DH with a OBP well below .300.”
I pointed out to you yesterday that Melky was hitting: .196 .289 .234 .523 on this date in the first year of the trade.
“You think the SABR world is that naive?”
Well, someone is.
2) Lose the Montero fixation
====================
now that’s just too easy.
They are all projection. Montero could be an all-star bat as early as this season or next.

This season is a long shot and probably next but he.will be a force going forward. Like most young athletes he’s just going on raw ability. Once he learns the ins and outs of the game lookout
although it hurts me that luis has decided to ignore me, i take it as a compliment that he places me in that arena of importance.

On a more serious front – and seriously – I am waiting for someone to sing just a little praise or virtues that Matt frickin Tracy 6’3″ lefty took the mound finally in Tampa and pitched well – which only means goods things to come if he is on the mound with his other lefty Nik Turley – - – -

The one thing I can honestly say – and you can go back and read them – I have always maintained that people rushed to judge the trade – and that we will not know the outcome until years down the road. Other side drew first blood by stating unequivocally that the best bat since Mickey Mantle had been traded and that the team is doomed with no Cano/Montero in the line up. I tried to preach patience the night of January 13 – the craziness since then is a product of that hysteria – they drew first blood – the fake fan boys Frankenstein – moi – ain’t going away – - – - -
why is it that only trisha shook hands…is she more of a man than these others who won’t?

But you’re making up for it now, don’t you think?
As I have said, I would like to see them get him back, and Cashman was foolish for not taking A-Rod’s recommendation two years ago, but the comparison is absurd.
mick and luis –
=========
sort of like lewis and martin.
laurel and hardy?
Melky Mantle?
A liability behind the plate is not needed. Melky Mantle plays excellent defense in RF (can also spot CF and LF). His versatility is unmatched.
Senator Montero, I served with Melky Mantle, I knew Melky Mantle, Melky Mantle was a friend of mine.
Senator, you’re no Melky Mantle.
I’m thinking that I just heard Girardi say that Nunez is eventually going to be their every-day SS and that he’ll come back up at some point but that Joe is only going to use him at SS and 2nd.
I’m thinking that’s what I just heard.

Do you know how many times over the last forty or so years I have heard that re: a prospect. Wait. See how it pans out before making certain guarantees that something will happen or begin believing that it is certain to happen. The kid could be great, he could be middle of the road – or he could be a flop. We do not know – heck even look at Jason Heyward – and he was much more hyped in prospect world than Montero – - – and Heyward in year three is not exactly destroying the cover off the ball – - – -
“It is hypnotic – all that is missing is the bouncing ball and a jingle – though I am wondering why you chose to pause after the last Montero – – – – -”

Circle jerking needs to be balanced on all sides.
I just heard Kay say “I will play devils advocate”
Joe G says,”That’s what you do.”
I appear to have gotten my Mason Crosby’s and Melky Mantle’s and Mickey Mesa’s confused tonight – - – - -
Circle jerking needs to be balanced on all sides.

Yes. A team needs a balanced circle jerk.
Can’t have enough…
“Circle jerking needs to be balanced on all sides.”

BA 262. OBP 286 421SLG OPS 706
Maybe next year.
And stop quoting montero’s career stats. This is his stats as of today.
Yes, montero can catch and will get better the more he catches; However the montero supporters act like this kid is absolutely tearing the cover off the ball and thats simply not the case.

So then why count Banuelos as someone who we “developed” already?
Why even mention the stats of some nondescript prospect like Nick Turley or demand that Mason Williams who is like 4 years away, get recognition?
Montero, more than any of our other prospects since Jeter, is as much of a lock to be an impact player. More than any of the pitchers, more than any of our hitters. He was as safe a bet as a young player as you could find.

Mason Williams is the next AJAX.
“However the montero supporters act like this kid is absolutely tearing the cover off the ball and thats simply not the case.”
You’re generalizing. I continue to want a blog filter. Chad? Anyone?
I’m curious why people feel the need to always defend the organization and make them look good, even when it is blatantly apparent that they screwed up. It’s like a few people take it upon themselves to be the voice of the Yankees and defend all their moves and combat backlash against them.
Do you guys work for the Yankees? Are you Michael Kay?
The need to “counter” the posters who these same people deem as “trolls” is amusing. One group is bringing real baseball discussion to the mix, the other is just embarrassing themselves with snarky, bitter, petty sarcastic statements about a young player because some posters have the audacity to praise someone who is no longer with the team. Snarky, teenage retorts, haha fanboy haha lol told you so haha ibanez is better than Montero haha fanboy prodigy hahaha
Some of you are real sheep. You don’t work for the Yankees or gain anything from defending the organization, get over yourselves.

Anyway, these inane diversions are fun during the day because work is pathetically too serious at times, but at night? No thanks.

I must say the Montero praise sounds so much more fitting when you strip out Montero’s name from the paragraph and insert Melky’s in his place. Things may change but for now it’s a fun exercise.

There are so many things I want to say about this – so many things – but I have to go – but thank you yanks 27 – you reestablished my faith that this blog – more than any other – plays favorites – dismisses Nik Turley as nondescript – pays little fan fare to Mason Williams when he is at Charleston – yet when Montero was there – allegedly – all these fan boys where traveling down to Charleston to see him play when he was splitting time with Romine – - – -
I NOW RETURN THE BLOG TO ITS REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING (which I hope involves good news on DRob and Nova)
Stoneburner you have issues bro.

I think what happened with Stoneburner is ppl were so upset about the trade that it pushed him overboard. To the point where he’s not doesn’t realize how weird his posts sound.
No one dismisses them but those guys are in fact a few yrs away. Montero played in Sep. and is playing now. Besides other prospects get brought up all the time.
