Mark Teixeira had homered only once since that two-homer game in Boston on April 21, but Joe Girardi had insisted there were no plans to dump Teixeira to the bottom of the order, and that patience was rewarded tonight. Teixeira’s tie-breaking, two-run home run in the seventh lifted the Yankees to a 8-5 win against the surprising Orioles. The lead changed four times and the Yankees came back from a pair of two-run deficits. Teixeira finally hit the game-winner in the seventh, scoring Alex Rodriguez who had three hits. The game took its toll on the Yankees as Ivan Nova left with a sprained ankle and Raul Ibanez was lifted after being hit by a pitch in the elbow. Rafael Soriano pitched the ninth inning for the save.
