Phil Hughes got in and out of trouble most of the night, but it hardly mattered when the Yankees again failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities. A 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays was the Yankees third straight and their fourth loss in the past five games. In keeping with the trend, the Yankees went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position, meaning they’ve now gone 3-for-60 with runners in scoring position in their past nine losses. Hughes allowed two runs through 5.1 innings, with both runs coming on a two-run homer by Jose Bautista. J.P. Arencibia added another two-run homer in the seventh inning to help the Blue Jays secure a two-game series sweep.
