WEATHER: The weather is always the same out here. It always rains a little bit. It’s always a little bit chilly. Right now, there’s plenty of sun — it was raining earlier — and the wind is blowing out to right field a little bit.
UMPIRES: HP Corey Blaser, 1B Brian O’Nora, 2B Tom Hallion, 3B Alfonso Marquez
WINNING STREAK! The Yankees have won two straight games for the first time since three wins in a row from May 10-12.
WELCOME TO OAKLAND: The Yankees have won six straight games at Oakland’s Coliseum dating back to July 5, 2010, their longest such streak since the opening of the Coliseum in 1968. The Yankees?have also won 10 of their past 11 games at Oakland and are 21-9 there since the start of 2004.
GOOD TO BE ON THE ROAD: Ivan Nova is undefeated in his past 11 road starts dating back to June 20, 2011. In that span, he’s gone going 8-0 with a 3.30 ERA on the road. He’s two wins shy of the longest road winning streak by a Yankees pitcher since 1995 (Roger Clemens, 10, in 2001 and Andy Pettitte, 10, over two stints with the Yankees from 2003 through 2007).
UPDATE, 10:17 p.m.: Couple of hits. Couple of outs with runners in scoring position. Yankees leave runners at the corners in the first.
UPDATE, 10:51 p.m.: Ball of Crisp’s glove is ruled a two-base error. Granderson scores on the play and it’s a 1-0 Yankees lead in the third.
UPDATE, 10:52 p.m.: And Teixeira follows with a two-run homer.
UPDATE, 11:20 p.m.: Rodriguez grounds into a double play with the bases loaded. The Yankees have left a runner at third in three of the first four innings.
UPDATE, 11:24 p.m.: Reddick has been pretty good since coming over to Oakland. His 12th homer of the year has pulled the A’s within 3-1 as we head into the fifth.
UPDATE, 11:43 p.m.: Cano and Swisher have each gone deep this inning. Home runs and a good outing from the starting pitcher is usually a good combination. It’s 6-1 Yankees in the fifth.
UPDATE, 11:56 p.m.: Off the bat, I thougth Granderson had no shot at that ball. He tracks it down for a sac fly instead of a two-run double. Nova does the rest of the work to limit the damage and it’s a 6-2 lead.
