Andruw Jones went deep and Mark Teixeira doubled twice, but it was Hiroki Kuroda who did the heavy lifting in today’s 2-0 win against the A’s. To finish off the series sweep and give the Yankees five straight wins, Kuroda pitched eight scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing four harmless singles. Oakland put one runner into scoring position, and Kuroda left him stranded with a strikeout and fly out. It was Jones who put the Yankees in the lead with a solo homer in the second, and Teixeira stayed hot with a pair of doubles, one of which drove in a second Yankees run in the seventh.
