WEATHER: How is this June weather? I don’t want to talk about it.

UMPIRES: HP Dana DeMuth, 1B Alan Porter, 2B Paul Nauert, 3B Doug Eddings

BEATING UP ON THE RAYS: Derek Jeter has the most games (231), hits (289) and runs (175) all time against the Tampa Bay franchise. His 53 doubles are second most behind David Ortiz (54) while his 118 RBI ranks fourth. … Alex Rodriguez has hit 46 home runs in his career off Rays pitching, most all time. … Robinson Cano owns a .403 (25-for-62) average against tonight’s starter James Shields, the highest for any player with at least 50 at-bats off the pitcher and Cano’s highest mark off any opposing pitcher.

MANTLE’S PLACE: Opening today at the New York Yankees Museum, presented by Bank of America, is “Mickey Mantle: The Life and Legacy of a Baseball Hero.” The exhibit features relics such as Mantle’s 1956 A.L. Most Valuable Player Award, his 1962 glove, Mantle’s first Yankees contract, signed in 1949 and baseball cards from each of Mantle’s 18 seasons with the Yankees.

Seven members of the U.S. Olympic freestyle wrestling team going to the London Games in July are at tonight’s game as guests of the club. The team will wrestle Russia live in Times Square Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.?New Jersey-native and NCAA champion Jordan Burroughs will be in attendance, along with head coach Zeke Jones.

UPDATE, 7:26 p.m.: It’s not a hit with the bases loaded, but it’s an error with the bases loaded, it gives the Yankees a 2-0 lead in the first.

UPDATE, 7:58 p.m.: Andy Pettitte just struck out the side. Granted, two of the hitters were Jose Molina and Elliot Johnson, but still. He’s been 10-times better than I expected when he signed.

UPDATE, 8:21 p.m.: Grand slam by Martin makes it 6-0 Yankees. Meanwhile, Pettitte has allowed one hit (which probably shoudl have been an error).

UPDATE, 9:02 p.m.: Shields is out after five ininngs.
