One of the more highly anticipated pitching duel’s of the season never lived up to its billing on Sunday night at Citi Field, but the Yankees continued to do damage with the long ball. Neither CC Sabathia nor Mets’ starter R.A. Dickey made it past the sixth inning, but a three-run shot from Nick Swisher and a late home run from Robinson Cano provided the Yankees with just enough punch to overcome the hottest pitcher in the majors in a 6-5 win.

Dickey, who came into the game having no allowed an earned run in 42 2/3 innings, was roughed up by the Yankees in the top of the third. After Mark Teixeira hit a sac fly, Swisher crushed a knuckleball over the centerfield wall with two outs to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead. The Mets tied the game in the sixth thanks to some timely hitting and sloppy defense from the Yankees, but Cano provided the final blow in the eighth.
