Yankees claim Darnell McDonald

The Yankees have claimed outfielder Darnell McDonald off waivers from the Red Sox. He’ll join the team on Friday, and a 25-man roster move will be made then.

Pitcher Chris Schwinden was designated for assignment to open a 40-man spot.

I have to assume McDonald will replace Dewayne Wise on the roster. Guess he could take Andruw Jones’ spot, but it’s hard to think the Yankees would give up on Jones and replace him with a career .248 hitter.
