TIME/TV: 7:15 p.m., FOX

WEATHER: Showers in the forecast, but so far so good.

UMPIRES: HP Tim Timmons, 1B Angel Hernandez, 2B Mark Carlson, 3B Lance Barrett

UPDATE, 7:28 p.m.: Three-run homer by Teixeira and the Yankees are back at it in the first inning. It’s a 3-0 lead after a half inning, giving Phil Hughes something to work with.

UPDATE, 7:42 p.m.: Martin snaps an 0-for-30 with a second-inning double.

UPDATE, 8:47 p.m.: Hughes looks sharp so far, heading into the bottom of the fifth with a 3-1 lead. He’s allowed five hits — two more than the Yankees have — but two double plays have helped him out of trouble. He has the bottom of the order coming up this inning. He’s thrown 64 pitches so far.

UPDATE, 8:54 p.m.: Miscommunication with the new guy. Granderson and McDonald nearly run into one another, the ball glances off Granderson’s glove and there are runners at the corners with one out in the fifth.

UPDATE, 8:58 p.m.: Sac fly makes it a 3-2 game.

UPDATE, 9:01 p.m.: Big strikeout by Hughes to strand runners at the corner snad keep the lead intact.

UPDATE, 9:06 p.m.: The botched fly ball has been changed to an error on McDonald, not Granderson.

UPDATE, 9:18 p.m.: Errors are killing the Yankees this game. The dropped fly ball led to a run in the fifth, and now Derek Jeter’s error — and Jones falling down in left field — have opened the door to three runs in the sixth. Red Sox now lead 5-3.

UPDATE, 9:35 p.m.: Jones’ third home run of the day pulls the Yankees withing 5-4 in the seventh.

UPDATE, 9:57 p.m.: Wade doesn’t look much different than when he left. He’s faced two batters and both have hit rockets. Sweeney’s RBI double has pushed the lead to 6-4 Red Sox.

UPDATE, 10:04 p.m.: Well this has turned into quite the debacle. Two more errors in the seventh — plus some shakey pitching from Wade — have let the Red Sox extend their lead to 9-4.
