Cano ready to defend his Home Run crown

Honestly, I don’t always enjoy the Home Run Derby. It can be great, or it can be incredibly boring. It’s essentially batting practice in prime time, and just like in regular batting practice, it’s only exciting when someone really puts on a show.

The Josh Hamilton barrage was amazing. It was fun to watch Robinson Cano win with his dad on the mound. I think it would be neat to watch scrawny Andruw McCutchen make some noise tonight. Ultimatley, it’s going to be either background noise or must-see TV, but for Yankee fans, it’s certainly worth watching because of Cano.

He tries to defend his title beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Here’s the competition:

Jose Bautista
Blue Jays
Home runs: 27

Mark Trumbo
Angels
Home runs: 22

Carlos Beltran
Cardinals
Home runs: 20

Robinson Cano
Yankees
Home runs: 20

Andrew McCutchen
Pirates
Home runs: 18

Carlos Gonzalez
Rockies
Home runs: 17

Prince Fielder
Tigers
Home runs: 15

Matt Kemp
Dodgers
Home runs: 12
