The Yankees leaned on their most productive hitters this afternoon. Not Derek Jeter. Not Alex Rodriguez. Not Mark Teixeira. It was two-run homers from Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson that carried the Yankees to a 5-3 win against the Angels. Cano’s homer tied the game in the first inning, and Granderson’s put the Yankees in front in the third. An RBI single by Cano added some breathing room in the sixth. The win went to Freddy Garcia who walked five — easily a season-high — but got through five innings with the lead still intact. Surprise of the season Cody Eppley delivered two scoreless innings before Dave Robertson and Rafael Soriano finished off the win.
