Yankees bench comes through again

Curtis Granderson got a day off Wednesday after starting 89 of the first 90 games, 88 in center. Dewayne Wise filled in and delivered two hits and two RBI in the Yankees’ rain-shortened 6-0 win over the Blue Jays.

Derek Jeter got a half day, working only as the DH. Jayson Nix took over at short and delivered two hits, and he did fine in the field. Andruw Jones continued to do fine as the part-time left fielder with Brett Gardner down, coming through with an RBI single and making a diving catch.

The Yankees have some depth.

“That’s how you win,” Jeter said. “You’ve got to get contributions from everyone. All the teams that I’ve been a part of that have won have gotten contributions from a lot of different guys.”

Mark Teixeira said: “The depth is the most important thing.”

The nonwaiver trade deadline is coming up fast, just 12 days away. Do you think the Yankees still need to do some tweaking or are they good to go toward October?
