The Athletics completed a four-game series sweep this afternoon by walking off with a 5-4 win against the Yankees. All four games were decided by one run, and they included two of the A’s league-leading 11 walk-off wins. The Yankees had a one-run lead going into the ninth but Rafael Soriano gave up a game-tying, solo homer to Seth Smith. The A’s then won it on Coco Crisp’s game-winning single in the 12th. The Yankees had a 4-0 lead after four innings. Alex Rodriguez had a two-run double, Curtis Granderson had a solo homer and the game was in the hands of CC Sabathia who allowed two homers in the fifth and another run in the sixth. Dave Robertson pitched out of trouble in the eighth, giving the Yankees a chance to seal the win in the ninth, but Soriano gave up his first home run of the season. The Yankees then squandered scoring chances in the 10th and 12th before the A’s walked off with the win.
