TIME/TV: 10:10 p.m., YES Network

WEATHER: Weird. It’s chilly and rainy in Seattle. That almost never happens.

UMPIRES: HP Phil Cuzzi, 1B Manny Gonzalez, 2B Greg Gibson, 3B Gerry Davis

FOUR BY ONE: The Yankees have lost their last four games, each by one run. It’s the first such streak for the Yankees since 1979 (one game at Oakland, three at Seattle and one at California). According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Oakland series marked the first time the Yankees lost four straight games, each by one run, against the same opponent since four consecutive losses at Detroit from Octover 1, 1988 through June 28, 1989.

LOSE BY ONE: The Yankees are 6-9 in one-run games on the road this season.

NO MORE THAN FOUR: The Yankees became the last team in the Majors to have a four-game losing streak this season. They?are one of five teams that has yet to lose five consecutive games (also Cincinnati, Milwaukee, San Francisco and Tampa Bay). Under Joe Girardi (since 2008), the Yankees have lost more than four straight games in a season just twice (a six-game losing streak in 2011 and a five-game losing streak in 2009).

UPDATE, 10:17 p.m.: Big ovation for Ichiro as he runs out to play right field. He’s done that more than a few times at this stadium.

UPDATE, 10:46 p.m.: Ichiro bows twice. Very cool first Yankees at-bat, no matter how it ends.

UPDATE, 10:47 p.m.: Single up the middle. See, he’s a better player already.

UPDATE, 10:52 p.m.: Ichiro is really making the rest of the Yankees look bad so far.

UPDATE, 11:22 p.m.: Not a home run to be found and the Yankees have pulled ahead 3-1 in the fourth. Teixeira, Ibanez and Jones each had RBIs that inning.
