On a day that was all about Ichiro Suzuki, it was the Yankees Japanese starter who stole the show. Hiroki Kuroda delivered another gem tonight in Seattle, allowing one run through seven innings to beat the Mariners 4-1. Ichiro singled in his first at-bat with the Yankees, but Kuroda did the bulk of the work, allowing just three hits while striking out nine against Ichiro’s former team. Mark Teixeira, Raul Ibanez and Andruw Jones had consecutive RBI hits in the fourth inning, and Alex Rodriguez homered in the eighth as the Yankees snapped a four-game losing streak, their longest of the season. The win let the Yankees maintain the best record in the Majors.
