Update, 7:21: Hughes strands two in scoring position, but he used up 28 pitches in that first inning.

Update, 7:28: Red Sox don’t turn what looked like a sure 4-6-3 double play. Teixeira beats Aviles’ throw to first and Granderson scores, 1-1.

Update, 7:31: Ibanez hits N0. 13, 2-2 pitch lands in the right-field seats, 3-1. Ibanez had been 1 for his last 15.

Update, 7:37: Hughes 1-2-3 second.

Update, 7:47: Crawford announces his return to the rivalry. Homer No. 1, to the second deck in right. So it’s 3-2. Hughes has now surrendered 24 homers.

Update, 8:04: Teixeira sac fly, so it’s 4-2 in the third. Gives him 69 RBI.

Update, 8:13: Hughes gives up another solo shot, to Saltalamacchia, 4-3 in the fourth.

Update, 8:20: The ball is flying out tonight, two-run shot to left for Martin, 6-3.

Update, 8:49: Three runs, five hits, three homers allowed through six by Hughes.

Update, 9:15: David Robertson is coming on for the eighth. Outside of the three solo shots, Hughes did fine, allowed five hits in all.

Update, 9:36: Curtis Granderson puts an exclamation point on it, grand slam in the eighth. No. 28. It’s 10-3.

Update, 9:49: Yankees win 10-3, 11 1/2 up on the Red Sox.
