Doubront vs. Yankees
TIME/TV: 8:05 p.m., ESPN
WEATHER: While it was raining when I first got here and they put the tarp on the field for about an hour, it’s actually been pretty nice out for the past two hours. The game is definitely going to start on time, but the forecast gets worse as the night goes on. We shall see.
UMPIRES: HP Brian O’Nora, 1B Chad Fairchild, 2B Alfonso Marquez, 3B Tom Hallion
GOOD & BAD NEWS ON INJURED PITCHERS: Two bits of information have surfaced in the past two hours that effect two rehabbing Yankee pitchers. The good news is that Joba Chamberlain made a successful appearance with Double-A Trenton today. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit while striking out the side in the eighth. He threw 30 pitches, 23 for strikes, with his fastball sitting between 94-98 mph. The bad news is that Andy Pettitte suffered a slight setback. His injured left leg swelled up a bit after he threw on flat ground while the team was in Seattle, but Larry Rothschild said a September 1 return is still feasible.
HIGH FIVE: In their eight games with the Red Sox so far this season, the Yankees have scored at least five runs in each, matching their second longest streak against Boston. They scored at least five against their archrival in 15 straight back in 1932.
IN CLOSING: The Yankees are 21-11 in series finales so far this season. They have won seven of their last nine.
(Note: I’ll be updating the action here every so often, but I’ll be much more active on Twitter. To join the conversation, follow me @vzmercogliano.)
UPDATE, 8:35 p.m.: After a quick, five-pitch first inning, Kuroda just gave up a two-out, two-run double to Sweeney in the top of the second. The Red Sox take an early 2-0 lead.
UPDATE, 9:27 p.m.: The Yankees have really struggled against Doubront tonight. Through four innings, he’s allowed only one hit, but the Yanks have failed to make him pay for five walks. Ichiro has failed to come through twice with two runners on. It’s still 2-0 Sox.
UPDATE, 10:40 p.m.: Martin finally got the Yankees on the board in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer to lead off the inning, but the Yankees blew a chance to tie the game. Ichiro singled and stole second, advancing to third on a single from Jeter. But Granderson flew out to shallow left, and Tex grounded out to second to end the threat. Doubront came out of the game with one out in the seventh, striking out seven while allowing just four hits. He did walk five, but the Yankees failed to capitalize. It’s 2-1 Boston.
UPDATE, 11:01 p.m.: Martin comes through again. His RBI single with two outs in the eighth has tied the game at 2-2. Walk off, anyone?

Go Yankees!! Win tonight, take the series, and it will be a successful weekend.
I recall Chad talking about Andy walking around and it looked like nothing was wrong. I think Andy probably felt too good and wasn’t careful enough to rest the foot/leg/ankle. Likely if he remembers he has an injury (whether it hurts or not), and gives it the rest it requires, he’ll be okay. It’s human nature to want to rush these things.
And very excited by the prospect of having Joba back soon.
Go Yankees!
Lets pile on the Red Sox and take the heart out of these losing Lowlifes.
Go Yankees Go Hiroki San!!
Losing the series would be choking job.
GO HIROKI!!!
GO YANKS!!!
GO YANKS!!!
I meant to post this yesterday…
The wind didn’t cooperate as much as I would have liked but, hoping you Yank fans (and especially YOU Sis!) appreciate the effort
http://instagr.am/p/
Win!
Tar I posted to you in the previous post.
Well OKAY!!!
Nice pivot by Jeet, nice reach by Tex!!!
nice scoop
Nice scoop by Tex! Great first inning. Let’s get to Doubront early.
Excellent play on both ends…Nice inning from Kuroda 5 pitches three outs…Sux seem to have the same approach they had last night
Sis – broken link!
Sorry, let me try that again…
http://instagr.am/p/NryPdEmqEc/
luis, with every bit of my being I want the Sux to go down in ashes tonight. Just because.
5 Pitch inning, smooth Hiroki. Now lets score early ‘n often…..Hi to all my Yankee devotees.
Sis – LOVE IT!!!!!
Dubront is eminently hittable. Remember that Yanks!
Admire every hr against sux please, yankee batters.
Go Jeet!!
More like getaway hour, Francona. Players must hate this espn Sunday night game.
We are in total agreement there…No mercy to the Sux
Hi jackamir! Nice devotee group so far!
“We are in total agreement there…No mercy to the Sux”
Not a drop.
Hi Trisha
Sorry that you had all that negativity sent your way.
Hi Luis, Trish et Big Al
Got home and read Jackson’s 1:14 pm post on catching – lovely, thanks. What a job!, and now that I no longer practice active dentistry, my hands can stand a lil’ roughing up – throw it here Stieb baby!!!
Everyone keeps talking about the redsox getting back to full health on offense. Last time i checked, their offense is not the problem. Unless they somehow Revamp that rotation, they aren’t going anywhere.
Nice pitch
k! good call by the ump
trisha,
Have to go out, but I’m here in spirit. Let’s go, boys!
Tar, thanks. Peashooter compared to some of the cannons from the past – but nevertheless annoying. It never gets old, if you know what I mean.
Trish, dito, you have been nothing but gracious unto my being – thanks!!!
LMAO ! LMAO !
Different names, same old trolls.
Zzzzzzzzzz.
Tabbert – absolutely the right call. So that makes me feel exceptionally comfortable because that just ain’t happening.
*************
jmills – did you know that blake is a dentist? I really enjoyed reading the article to which Jackson linked, too. Tough not to have a lot of respect for the responsibility of a catcher!
Bx – absolutely.
ugh
Geesh. Love him but Andruw definitely has slowed down a few steps.
damn
Luis
Como estas amigo.
Ouch!!
A play where not having Gardner hurts you
Yankee pitching starting to look pretty pedestrian lately
Ichiro in LF numbnuts!
Hate to lose a series to the Sox in Yankee Stadium no matter how far back they are. Kick them when they are down.
Jeezus F’ing Christ.
Hola Tar! Yo estoy muy bien
How about you?
Yup that double hurt.
All a product of Joe Girardi’s bonehead shift with Gonzalez up.
The good news is that we got Ciriaco out.
Jones should definitely be a DH at this stage of his career. His knees are shot and he simply can’t run out there. Personally, I’d leave Ichiro in RF and put Swish in left. Ichiro is still a better fielder than Swisher.
All a product of Joe Girardi’s bonehead shift with Gonzalez up.
–
The shift isn’t boneheaded if the batted ball data indicates A-gon hits most of his ground balls to 1 side of the field. The problem is Nix isn’t a great fielder and couldn’t come up with that easy play and Jeter didn’t even move to attempt to back him up.
“Hate to lose a series to the Sox in Yankee Stadium no matter how far back they are. Kick them when they are down.”
Oh yeah.
” Oscar Madison July 29th, 2012 at 8:27 pm

Zzzzzzzzzz.”
Bx your timing is impeccable.
Trish – no, I’ll wish Blake well over it – tough profession on the back and mind.
Girardi has to stop playing Jones in the outfield. He hasn’t hit a lick recently and he doesn’t give any effort on defense. He looks like how Bernie did at 40 years old. I believe that Girardi and Cashman put up with his lazy play in LF. Ichiro better play LF everyday even when they face a lefty, they need his defense.
Unfortunate about giving up runs in the first inning, but hope the offense can get them back soon. And that’s a good start, Swish
We’ve missed you Swish!!!
These R\Sox homers in the ESPN Booth are still trashing Jones.
Don’t push it Swish…
That career minor leaguer with a great play at short
Thanks, Tar.
How bout a run.
This would be a great time for a Martin signature home run.
Swisher must really be hurt. Even someone really slow beats that ball out.
Swish slid way too early. He was almost atta stop by the time he reached the base.
JF,
Good and interesting post, unfortunately couldn’t watch the play. I’ll watch the replay after the game
How does martin have the lowest BA in Al…..
Or a signature Martin walk.
Make yer bones ichiro!
I rather see Swinsher not pushing it tonight…If that means going station to station baserunning with him, so be it
The infield looks slow\damp. Hampered the slide, and slowed down the ground ball so that Ciriacco could get to it.
Awesome.
“I rather see Swinsher not pushing it tonight…If that means going station to station baserunning with him, so be it”
Yes.
Uncle Ellsworth, I avoid stepping loosely from all doors that may leave me stranded in outer space
Ichiro is perfect for this team….
———
Andrew Marchand?@AndrewMarchand
Ichiro has been very bad with RISP this season. .143 on the year. 98 at-bats.
Then swisher should be sitting if he can’t run 100%.
That cicada has been playing way over his head. He’s been a real pest.
I say before the game is over he makes a bone headed play to even the score.
If Swish is gonna Slow-Poke it, he should remain on the pine. The Yanks do Not need guys out there that are Not 100%, when they are up by 8 in the loss column.
Can’t believe this team is struggling against these dirtbag sux.
All you gotta do is look at the intense concentration on Bobby V’s face. He Wants this game. Too bad he has Coasted against other teams.
Well which team do you think is playing with greater adrenaline?
He has to go after Crawford here. He stinks….
Thought he had him
That’s in reference to struggling against the Sux.
I do not think he was safe. We’ll see.
What I tell ya. Slow\Damp infield.
Of course they don’t show the replay. He looked out…
this is the 3rd time we are facing doubront no?
and they have not adjusted to him even now.
Yanks, you have to beat these things as I have no intention of winding up in last place – still project the O’s, Rays, Sox in my rear view mirror which isn’t worth a damn if you ask Marshall McLuhan.
Kuroda lolipoping that curve.
Tar,
I hope you are right
Be back in a few. Yankees have my permission to score up a storm, even though I’ll be in the car and wont be able to see it!
Choking job is in process
“Of course they don’t show the replay. He looked out…”
Unlike FOX not to show every replay.
Wait a minute…
How come no replay showing the play at first? Was it that obvious that Crawford beat it out?
Jmills – wise
Nix almost had that ball handcuff him.
Yes!! Good DP there…I thought they had Crawford in the first try, but no harm no foul
I thought Crawford beat it.
Crawford was very safe.
This is Doubront’s third time facing them. Going 6 innings and giving up 4 hits in the previous games. He was part of the 15-9 game, but pitched well…
Now it’s time to figure out Doubront….
I cannot believe that the Yankees will go with Chavez/Nix combo without Alex for 6 weeks or longer. They will both be exposed or injured IMO.
Oh, and now Hershiser is claiming DuBront has the 2nd best curve in the AL. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Throw over to see if Jeet was bunting.
I hate Jones, always thought he was a loafer ala Canseco. Dill hole.
Another DP for the king of DP’s.. what a rally killer that is
geez.
The killer DP continues for Jeter. Get the ball out of the damn infield already….
poof… jeter hits into dp. that hurt
Why they do not bunt Jeet with 0 outs is inexplainable.
Please bunt, captain
Girardi has blown this inning to hell.
Hershisher saying the Yanks don’t have to have that killer mentality the Sox need in this game. If the Yanks feel like they can loaf this series against the hated rivals then maybe this team doesn’t have that killer mentality. They should want to kill this team, and not feel compassionate because they are 10 games back.
Remember when Jeter had us all fooled into thinking he was a good hitter again? Pretty sure he was at .340 for a week or two back in May. Been hitting about .200 since then.
“Why they do not bunt Jeet with 0 outs is inexplainable.”
It’s the 3rd inning and you want them to bunt? And then it’s Giradi’s fault because Jeet hit into a DP? Okie dokie
Granderson has NO Clue with Dubrondt and his move.
With 0 Outs and and DP King at bat, I bunt No matter the inning.
Yawn!! Maybe they think the is King Felix and not Doubront. Pretty sluggish offense so far.
I can’t believe the Yanks can’t figure this loser out yet. You would think 3 starts of seeing him would be enough. It takes them too long to adjust to a pitcher.
Guys,
Doubront won’t be able to keep us at bay for long…If Kuroda keeps us right here, we should win this game.
About jeter…He has hit the ball very well tonight, It’s just that he has hit them at players..he tried to go the other way in his last at bat, that was the appropiate approach. it wasn’t a weak grounder to short stop
“With 0 Outs and and DP King at bat, I bunt No matter the inning.”
Classless, spoiled, all too common Yankee fan statement.
For frack’s sake.
The guy is a pretty good SP. All the more reason to scrape for runs with the bunt. I’ve seen him several times, and like most young Chuckers, he has had trouble in 1 inning and Not figured out how to escape.
Keep the ball down Hiroki
Atta boy Hiroki san
Kuroda looks like our ace right now
Should have bunted Ross there I guess, stupid Valentine.
As a Mgr, I consider the hitter\pitcher\score.
“Classless, spoiled, all too common Yankee fan statement.”
Holier-than-thou, accusatory, pathetic one-upsmanship. “I’m a better fan than you because I never criticize.” Another thing I see a lot here in the comments!
Bunting down 2 runs in the third inning??? Have you people ever watched baseball
It’s fine that the Yanks wanted to wait ’til I got back to showcase their hitting!
Dubront is pitching a shutout, right?
These fluff interviews with the Mgr are a complete waste.
Jeezus are these guys asleep?
Beckett n lester. lester n beckett.
Just admit that Beckett and Lester aren’t that good anymore guys.
Yup Uncle….A Sux love fest on ESPN right now
some hot hitting tonight
Hershiser claiming Beckett has Not lost any MPH is hilarious. He needs to actually watch a Beckett pitched game.
I love Tito as an analyst. Guess he didn’t read the ESPN manifesto.
For the R\Sox and all their fans at ESPN, THIS is as close to a playoff game as they will see in 2012.
Now they are even trashing the New stadium crowds. Guess their Trash Material is running out.
Xtree basehit.
ok now bag on the old and stadiums all at once. now the ys workers
Old and new
Ichiro,
A patient at bat would be welcomed
how do you walk five yankees and not give up any runs?
How is it possible for Dan Shulman and Performing Orel Hershiser to be bigger ass suckers of the Red Sox than Tito???
Did anyone hear the crap from Performing Orel about if Beckett and Lester were .500, the Red Sox would be 3.5 games out of 1st place in the division and would be leading the wild card?
Please, Hershie, stop with the old stadium vs the new stadium crap. What’s next, posting a photo of you kissing the green monster! STFU!
Ichy becomes a Yankee tonight.
“how do you walk five yankees and not give up any runs?”
Pazienza, Benny.
Ichiro getting a taste of the rivalry here. Hope he comes through
Ichiro swinging for the fences lol
Toast
Fail again.
Now Hershiser claims, “previously, you never saw Ichiro swing and miss”. More lunacy.
another night, another small army left on base.
Ichiro fits in perfect. Pathetic job by the offense once again.
Good to hear al trautwig at the olympics
“Now Hershiser claims, “previously, you never saw Ichiro swing and miss”. More lunacy.”
There was actually excitment in his voice when he said it. I believe Hershiser, besides being a shill for ESPN, suffers from professional jealousy because he has more naked fingers than a lot of the Yankees do.
Yanks need a middle of the order stick to replace A-Rod.
this crew for ESPN is 10 times better than the FOX crew
I guess they can’t think of anything original to say, “Ichiro speaks English” Really?
Now that there is a lull, they are back to trashing Jones.
Poor Kuroda. He knows if he gives up another run or 2 this game is over.
Greg that is a low bar to set lol
Ironic that Tito has to be the one to start any conversation about Sux deficiencies.
That was a nasty pitch!
Hey yankee fans yanks will Figure out how to win this game. Just don’t be such negative nancies. But they do strand a lot runners…
dub is pitching well albeit walking hitters, Yanks lineup is light with LH on the mound. Kuro san better hold it there.
Not really much of a choice between the Fox Crew and the Espn Crew. It’s like voting for President.
I love how they talk about Smurfy Pedroia like he is some great player. If he was on any other team no one would even know who he is.
If all you knew about baseball was what these three guys have said tonight you’d swear Pedroia was the greatest player to ever play and Agon had a personality. Both are equally ridiculous
Larry Fleisher?@larryfleisher
The Yankees scored three off Doubront three hitters in on July 7. Since that point, they are 3-for-33 against him with a few walks mixed in.
Has hershiser ever tasted mayonaise?
Yanks need to get a bat before the deadline. This is ridiculous.
Go Jeet!
Now these clowns are talking about every team but the 2 on the field.
1 hit from the injured guy
Nice swing jeter. Next time use your stupid golf club.
That was an ugly at bat from the Captain
not jeter’s best game is it?
2 Ks and a DP.
Who cares about the clap-trap on Twitter??? These jokers need to prepare for their broadcast.
Who can they get?
Scott Rolen?
Doubront is NOT as good as the Yankees have made him look in 2012…
astrocityfan July 29th, 2012 at 9:32 pm
Greg that is a low bar to set lol
——————————–
yeah you’re right…..:)
God blessed. Granderson is gonna strike out 500 times this year.
hot, hot hitting
Can’t believe I’m saying this but mother F’er the yanks are missing arod tonight.
Compressing the pitch count? You. Mean throw less, Einstein? Jeez,
HOLD ‘EM HERE HIROKI!!!
Granderson is going to age very poorly with his long swing
We’re seeing tonight the results of neglecting the offense and relying on so many aging players who can’t hit off-speed stuff. It’s only going to get worse as the years go on
If the Sox score this 3rd run the Yanks are done for the night. Then we will see those lazy swing at anything at bats.
That play by Jeter is really going to hurt them. Whenever the Yanks have made mistakes/errors against Boston this year it has cost them the game.
I think it’s time to get the bullpen up. Kuroda is starting to nibble.
Losing to the lowly sux. Amazing.
RMike, this game feel like it is lacking energy. I think part of the reason is that the Sux are a last-place team and pretty far out of first so it doesn’t feel like a typical Ys-Sux game. I know I don’t feel the same level of excitement as I usually do when they play. I still hope the Ys take this game but I know I won’t have the level of aggravation that I usually do if the Sux take a series.
Jeet starting to juggle\drop balls more frequently. It used to be if he got a glove onna ball, he caught it. That is No longer the case.
He went after it there
Thanks for that Egypt vs. New Zealand Olympic Men’s Soccer spoiler, ESPN crawl.
That was a loud out
PEd cursed on air
love the announcers laughing at dustin cursing on live tv
Way to play it casual, Jones. Nobody would mistake for Clemente.
F-Bomb courtesy of the ESPN dugout mike.
No if we can get Agon to hit into a DP, it wll be a great inning!
this is a sickening broadcast.
Kuroda losing control of fast ball.
He isnt on the Yankees, trisha. They dont hit into 50,000 double plays a game like our idiots do.
How about a freaking coaching visit to the F’ing mound?!?
Or a pop up…
nice job by Kuroda
Thank you Jesus!
got it!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD ON YA YANKS!!!
Great job by Kuroda getting out of that mess. Too bad these guys can’t hit.
Atta boy, Hiro!!!
Gonzalez is slower than a cob, and it was close at 1B.
Atta boy Hiroki!! DP the best friend of the pitcher!!…We are scoring this inning and taking the lead for good
“He isnt on the Yankees, trisha. They dont hit into 50,000 double plays a game like our idiots do.”
I think you need to apologize to our Yankees!
the Yanks are about to break out
Girardi should definitely have someone warming up in the 7th just incase
Kurodastud
You know how you guys always say “I hope that doesn’t come back to bite them” any time the Yanks fail? Well, if you want to talk about something set up to come back to bite, you just saw it.
HIROKI I WAS SOO SOO WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!
The Yanks only have 1 hit?!?!?!? I didn’t even realize it was that bad.
That inning definitely should have energized the Yanks.
This is awful. 1 hit against this waste of human feces Doubront.
This is what they call, “hanging around”.
Kidding? Jones read it beautifully And glided to the ball. That’s what instinctive OFers do. They don’t cut up the carpet.
Cy F’ing doubront
I really cant stand Cano.
They have to get his pitch count up so they can get into that terrible bullpen in the 7th inning.
this guy is definitely better than Lester
Look at this loser strikeout.
Yankees batters have no life, no desire tonight. Might as well pack it in for tonight.
Break out of nothing. Still sucking.
Yanks making this Felix look like king Felix
damn. these guys will have to likely face dubrount at least two more times this year.
Get in the video room and figure out how to face him!
Hey Primo!,
What ‘s up? Swisher with our second hit
That’s it, Nicky.
two hits both by the injured guy…..
This guy has a lotta Pedro in his attitude on the mound.
“This is awful. 1 hit against this waste of human feces Doubront.”
That would be two. Actually your negative posts are bringing us good luck! Keep complaining. Seriously.
Yankees definitely look like they were content to take first game of series and nothing more right now.
Francona is such a fool. The guy was fired from the Sox and they aired all his dirty laundry about being on medications and his martial problems and stuff, and this guy still feels an allegiance to them. He picked them to make the playoffs in the spring, he said he wore both of his WS rings specifically to Yankees spring training visit, and showed up to the 100th anniversary as if he has some great relationship with the team
Guy is an idiot, like the boyfriend who cheats on his girlfriend and hen dumps her to the side and throws her clothes out of the window, then the girl still tries to be good friends with him.
Meanwhile, we fired Torre in a dignified fashion to his face and he writes a book killing the organization and took 3 years before the guy even forgave us, while he got his coaches and family members to kill the Yankees (remember Frank Torre mocking the Yankees for missing the playoffs in 08?)
The Sox have like a hypnotic spell over these guys. No matter how much they screw over someone, the person still begs them for forgiveness and doesn’t get hurt by getting dumped ungratefully by the organization
Here comes Jones to swing for the fences
Sleepwalking, there is no fire in the Yanks tonight!!!!
What an awesome rally. Sure showed doubront.
this could be a typical game vs. this felix.
he shuts them down and then his bullpen comes in and blows it for him.
These quick outs are extending the game for him though.
Maybe Francona has deferred $$$ still rolling in from the R\Sox.
“Look at this loser strikeout.
Yankees batters have no life, no desire tonight. Might as well pack it in for tonight.”
Do you forget the night at fenway when FOX cut away to Humber’s (I think was Humber) perfect game, with the Yankees losing by something like 6 runs, and when they cut back, the score was something like 7-6 Yanks? They are capable of exploding.
Here’s hoping they do.
Jones is sooooo lost. Every at bat is either a strike out or pop up. Pathetic…
if swisher wasn’t in the lineup, we’d be getting no-hit through six.
Yank1, all these guys know theyll be blackballed from baseball and ruined if they dare be slighted by getting ripped by the Red Sox upon their departure.
Look at Curt Schilling for example. He opened his mouth about BObby V being a bad hire by the REd Sox… What happened to him?? He lost all his money.
There’s a price to pay for daring to stand up to the Red Sox or even disagreeing with them.
There’s only total recall movie and that stars Arnold… “all these people need is a little air”
Primo!
Went to see joba in trenton. Threw gas and had good slider and curve. We need sOme runs. Eh? I’m on iPhone so can’t pOst much
Someone wake up these energized yanks.
Which team wants more?
Sux.
You have to be kidding me. Get Jones out of the outfield!!!!
Pete Abraham?@PeteAbe
Chanting “Boston sucks” when you’re getting two-hit by Felix Doubront kind of lame, no?
___
Yes but not as lame as Boston fans chanting Yankees suck when we are in first and they are in last.
Now that wasn’t a good jump
Kuroda giving up hits like the Astros are players.
“Which team wants more?
Sux.”
I’m thinking you’re right. Wants more, needs more, has the most to lose, etc.
I am so effing angry at coming back last night only to have this 200 strikeout loser Granderson misplay us out of a game.
And then no hustle Andruw costing us a 2nd run tonight.
We play against the Red Sox like we dont care. Just pound these pieces of crap into the ground, stomp on their throats, strangle every last breath out of them, and hang them by their legs. Kill them. But no, we’re just intent upon giving FOX and ESPN the opportunity to prop up their Red Sox and give them hope.
Wow – five walks is a lot – can’t say they haven’t had their chances. Hope Kuroda can continue to hold down the Red Sox.
I would bring Ibanez in for defense. Jones can’t hit and he is killing them out there.
Pete abe Is juvenIle. BostOn’s 10 games out and in last place chanting that they suck is merely accurate
If Kuroda can keep it at 2…
Yanks haven’t scored any runs but if Jones had been able to attack on two of those plays, the Sux probably wouldn’t have any runs either. Just sayin’
It isn’t like the Sux are running roughshod over the Yanks.
That’s another big DP
if only these DPs could build us some momentum on offense
Kuroda is pitching great….battling tough….they need to get him some runs
Primo,
Saw Ashmore videos…he looks very fit and mechanically looked very good, couldn’t tell much about stuff, because of the angle the video was taken.
Another DP!! att bot Kuroda san!…Come on Yankees, pick Hiroki san up!!
“I would bring Ibanez in for defense. Jones can’t hit and he is killing them out there.”
I hope Girardi does that. No offense to Jones but we need the defense to help keep the score where it is.
Ken Rosenthal ?@Ken_Rosenthal
Hearing Price for #Indians’ Choo is a major leaguer – a good one – with less than three years service time. Choo free agent after 2013.
Kind of lame and offensive and saddening is that an obese piece of worthless trash like Pete Abe is still living, when that mother of the deceased 6 year old from the psycho batman killer just had a miscarriage and wil be paralyzed the rest of her life. Saddening that no justice exists for scum like Pete Abe, but innocent people lose their families for no reason.
Kuroda having a strong outing get him some runs
Man I’m glad they didn’t put Kuroda in the bullpen like some folks wanted.
“Hearing Price for #Indians’ Choo is a major leaguer – a good one – with less than three years service time. Choo free agent after 2013.”
Nova for Choo?
Nice Hiro!
Looks like the Yankees can’t meet that asking price for Choo, eh Blake? The only player who fits that description is Nova and the Yankees won’t trade Nova for 1.5 years of Choo.
Cashman has gotta get a middle of the order stick, or what we are seeing tonight, is gonna be the norm till mid Sept. We saw the Dodgers go thru the same thing when Kemp was out. It eventually catches up to a team.
Hey curt do us a favor and don’t type for the next 20 minutes
Jones is a very good OF ..Ibanez does plays the game right, but i wouldn’t bring Ibanez for D
As long as the Yankees prospect hug, they won’t get anyone via trade to upgrade the offense.
The only guys they will bring in are over-the-hill players who come cheaply, a la Jones, Ibanez, Chavez, Ichiro, etc.
God forbid he try and find a long-term solution like a Headley, Choo, or Upton. Nah, let’s just keep recycling guys in their mid-late 30s with declining bat speed, that’s the ticket.
Offense wake up!!! They have to work the count or get some hits and get Doubront out of this game.
That would be short sighted…Nova is worth ten times Choo…He is a very good player, but not enough to warrant very good number 2, maybe ace with five years of control left
They arent trading Nova. Quality cheap pitching is harder to find than an outfielder.
“Looks like the Yankees can’t meet that asking price for Choo, eh Blake? The only player who fits that description is Nova and the Yankees won’t trade Nova for 1.5 years of Choo.”
Phelps? I wouldn’t trade Nova for Choo…..the Indians will find it hard to find a good big league player with 4+ years of control that a team will trade for 1.5 years of Choo…..obviously the player needs to be worse than Choo or why would the team do that?
Kuroda is amazing.
Yes I said it.
I never said he wasn’t, only that I didn’t think he’d be able to pitch in the AL East because I don’t trust NL pitchers coming to the AL. I want to remind that Kuroda was on my fantasy teams.
You’re kidding about Jones, right Luia?
Russ get on base
“Quality cheap pitching is harder to find than an outfielder.”
it’s not really harder to find than a 900 OPS outfielder….
Crooked number 7th.
I would trade Hughes but not Nova or Phelps.
Useually the sox arnt 10 games back. clowns
Sorry, Luis. Damn you auto correct!
All I can figure is that this is going to have a typical Suxian ending, where the Sux actually think they have a shot and the Yanks snatch it from the jaws of defeat at the very last moment. My favorite kind of Sux defeats.
No OldSchool, I am not kidding…Ibanez is nowhere near the OF Jones is
Hershiser talking about a “10 rd fight”. What fight goes 10 rds????
That’s right!!
there’s one!!!
Go Martin!!! Now we need 1 more of those.
I would trade 1.5 years of Nova for 1.5 years of Choo…..I wouldn’t trade 4.5 years of Nova for 1.5 yeras of Choo.
Martin!
Coltrane! Dos mas!
martin heating up…
soon he may be back to .200
Remember what I said about the signature Martin homer?
One of everyone’s favorite two current Yankee catchers wakes up the Yanks!
Some muscle!!!
Marty!
Promo stuff looked good cAnt believe that Arm ‘s heAded for the 7 th inning thOugh.
LOl fans haven’t brOught it because bostOn is a shell Of a team n O One’s worried about them (nO one sane)
Atta boy Russ, that’s even better
The muscle!
As bad as Ibanez is, that doesn’t mean Jones is good.
Maybe Hughes for Choo but not Nova….
Hell is cold again.. I think his past 3 hits are all HRs.
we are not trading Hughes or Nova, no way
Ibanez is bad? He’s looked mighty good this season!
Dubrondt hit the 100 pitch mark, and his ball has risen in the zone.
Atta boy, Ichi!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVING IT!!!!!
6 game hitting streak!
I like Phelps and he does have 6 years of control left but I think it’s interesting that so many folks would rather trade Hughes than him…..
Phelps has never really started in the big leagues….not saying he can’t be successful doing it and I think he can and will….but we are seeing Hughes do it now and he’s actually in the rotation….we still don’t really know what Phelps would be as a big league starter.
No Hughes for Choo. Ichiro continues his Yankee hitting streak
Go Ichiro!!! Now he has to steal 2nd base before Jeter hits in a DP.
that’s why you trade for ichiro. not many others players in the league can get a hit on that pitch
Ichiro!!
Line drive in the box score. I’ll take it.
Ichiro swings at everything…..he can make contact with everything though…..nice Ichiro hit there.
I think Jones has lost a few steps and doesn’t charge the ball like he used to. He goes back for the deep ones just fine.
Apply the pressure
Gotta try and steal a base here. Though Nix has shown a little power.
No bunt…Hit and run please
Do not bunt with DJ up next!
Good speed at 1B, why bunt???
We don’t need the ghosts against Boston they suck
PrimO jobs stuff was good the man is wasted in the bp
lets not bunt….hit one in the gap NIx
Who’s the better bad ball hitter? Ichiro or Yogi? I say Yogi-more power
So nice to having something going with nobody out.
I hate the bunt here. Nix should swing the bat and Ichiro try to steal 2nd base. Jeter hasn’t been hitting at all so I wouldn’t set up the inning for him.
Either straight steal, or hit-and-run

========================
This is spot on…But even the diminished version of Jones is better than Ibanez on Defense
Yanks are just giving away strikes\outs. Dumb
Paul Simon was sporting a little bit of a puffy face, but I like how he said “Oh baby” when our hero Russell Martin hit the BIG FLY to wake up the Stadium.
Here’s why I like the bunt. Unless it’s a terrible one you avoid a DP. And you move him over. Anything short of a hit keeps Ichiro on first and we have an out. Nothing productive.
Jones is lazy. He’s nice as a DH and off the bench but he just doesn’t have the drive for this game anymore.
“Weren’t you trading Hughes left and right”
I would in the right deal….but I would rather trade Phelps to be honest…..I don’t just say lets trade anybody without context so please don’t make out like I do…..I don’t trade anybody “left and right”….I always give reasons for why I would consider doing anything.
Girardi is a moron,.steal dummy
ichiro being on base is distracting if nothing else.
should have something to hit.
The fouled bunt put Nix in a defensive posture at the plate.
Damn lay off that crap
gotta give him credit. dubront changes eye level well
wasted out…..stupid
Im sorry, Ken. I was trying to not post for 20 minutes… but Joe Girardi has just taken us out of the inning.
Now its 2 strikes.
Ichi shouldve been stealing from the beginning of the at bat, and we got screwed.
He’s Ichiro, he doesnt need to be bunted over. EFFING Joe Girardi and his overmanaging.
DFA Nix!
COME ON JEET!
This is when he’s at his best.
that sucked
PrimO jobs stuff was good the man is wasted in the bp
============================
Where you able to talk some sense to Cashman?
I know a four pitch pitcher with high gas has nothing to do in the 7th inning
the right call was to bunt there……….I wish he had got it done
Why not let him steal?
Albers in to face Jeter
Advantage Jeter I believe
This is what it was like in Oakland. Painful to watch that in person. Please no re-runs!
Girardi is a moron,.steal dummy
____________
how do you know he didnt put the steal sign on and ichiro didnt get a good opp?
“The fouled bunt put Nix in a defensive posture at the plate.”
Yep.
I think Albers is quick to the plate. But Ichiro is obviously going to try and get a good jump to stay out of the Jeter DP.
“the right call was to bunt there……….I wish he had got it done”
Absolutely agree.
Ichiro should benefit from a new Chucker. He was having trouble figuring out Dubrondt’s move.
Hey hey hey….it’s Maaaatttt Albers
you can’t steal the base if you can’t get a good jump and the lefty kept Ichiro close
Most people wanting to trade Hughes are doing so with the budget in mind. He’s another good season away from a CJ Wilson-type pay day, as a 27 yr old entering FA.
It’s no longer simply about talent with the Yankees, it is about filling needs and utilizing their personnel correctly. Not just the “sign all the players we want to whatever contract they want” way of doing business. No one is saying Phelps is better than Hughes, just that he has 4 years more of service time and is going to be very cheap while Hughes, if he tests the market, is going to get a huge payday if he keeps this up.
So can Phelps give you comparable production for a longer period of time and at a significantly cheaper rate? That is how you have to think.
Gotta steal on pitch 1 or 2 before Jeet hits into another DP
Ichiro will probably try to go here…..get on base Jeter then lets have a Grandybomb
All you can ask for is 2 1/2 innings against the Sux crappy bullpen
I just have a feeling Jete’s going to come up big. If he doesn’t, I have no further feelings, other than a win.
Ichi steals another.
No ground ball dp now
Not close!
Steal 3rd too Ichiro!!!!!
How bleepin’ lucky are we to have Ichiro? I still can’t beleive it.
think ichiro steals third?
that would be awesome
how do you know he didnt put the steal sign on and ichiro didnt get a good opp?
__
because they were bunting
Nice job by Ichiro. He can still really run. Let’s go Jeter!!!
Go Jeet.
ichiro bringing the speed back…
I would gladly deal Phelps inna package for J Upton
No bunt, but a steal or a hit and run was the right call…With a bunt you are giving an out away for free
here we go!!
Atta boy, Jeet!
Damn held at 3rd
NOW, send Jeet down on the 1st pitch.
Anyone want to tell me why I chirp wasn’t running on contact and scoring???
El Capitan!!
That wasn’t another hit with RISP that didn’t score the runner, was it? #baseballscandal2012
Ichiro
“So can Phelps give you comparable production for a longer period of time and at a significantly cheaper rate? That is how you have to think.”
I don’t think we know that yet….he’s never started in the big leagues….that’s what I’m saying. Sure you have to consider the budget…..but we don’t know what Phelps is as a big league starter yet…
send jeter to second, see if they throw…….
I can’t believe that they held Ichiro. I definitely thought they would send him there with his speed. That move will most likely cost them since Granderson will most likely strike out against the lefty now. I would have made them throw Ichiro out.
yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 10:34 pm
Atta boy, Jeet!
=============
how did Montgomery look?
Great job Ichiro and Jeter…..gotta get that run in….have to
grandy could surprise everyone by bunting the first pitch to 3rd…
What’s the over/under Granderson strikes out?
Put the take on Grandy, and send Jeet down on the 1st pitch.
I can’t believe that they held Ichiro. I definitely thought they would send him there with his speed. That move will most likely cost them since Granderson will most likely strike out against the lefty now. I would have made them throw Ichiro out.
___
And he would have been out by ALOT
great AB in a tough match up for Jeter….
“Damn held at 3rd”
He would have been dead meat if he tried to score. That throw was right on the money.
I can’t imagine that we don’t plate more runs this inning. It just has that feel. Like when the Sux failed to bring in run #3. It felt like a real shift in momentum.
If I’m wrong I won’t have any more feelings other than that we win.
That was a good throw home.
Blake,
That’s why Phelps should be starting right now
Have to get a Sac Fly here
I hate to say it but here comes a Granderson strike out
carlos m silva ?@boomerangdrinks
Russell Martin has 45 hits this season, 23 have been for extra-bases (12 HR, 11 doubles)
Nooooooooooooo.
What are the odds they don’t score Ichiro?!?
Great job Granderson. What a surprise….
“That’s why Phelps should be starting right now”
I think he should yea….cause I want to find out what he can do….but until I know I don’t think I’d trade hughes over him.
Ugh
They are the worst team at hitting sacflies! The worst!
Jesus!! Just like Oakland!
Grandy had to do better than that.
Strong throw. He was almost on the infield dirt.
ugh
Bad at bat there by grander son
terrible…..
Geez! Not far enough!
Blake,
Agreed
Come through Tex!
of course they wouldnt score….
A-Rod would hit in this inning.
Ugh
SSDD
Okay so we get ‘em in the 8th and/or 9th.
Very good and patient at bats
Pretty god darned good apparently. Turds.
just hold em here. we’ll get them before the fat lady sings

I know. Was just disappointed he couldn’t score
missed opportunities……I think Ichiro would have been out had he been sent both times there so Thompson made the right calls I think…..Yanks just didn’t get the job done.
Okay so we get ‘em in the 8th and/or 9th.
___
going to have to be on a homerun….
even when they get hits with RISP they dont score…
That’s why I would have sent Ichiro home on the Jeter hit. Girardi and the coaching staff know that the Yanks can’t situational hit or score guys from 3rd base. You have to make them throw him out at the plate. This offense is going to be terrible in the play offs.
sportsJC16
Situational hitting still alluding #Yankees. Has been zero improvement in this area all season. That’s on the players.
Horrible approach by tex
And who here doesn’t think Crawford is getting surgery in the next ten days?
Phelps has been awesome this year in his role. However we dont how he will do in the rotation on a regular basis just yet. Also with the injuries to Pettite and Pineda there is not a lot of depth in the starting rotation right now. Hughes is pitching really good right now and is looking a workhorse. The Yankees have a good shot to win it all this year, no point of messing with the rotation now
F’ing Granderson can’t hit a stupid sac fly.
How can anyone honestly have faith in this offense come the playoffs?
Piss poor at bats by grandy and tex. why swing so early in the count? What is the hurry?
yanks 27 July 29th, 2012 at 10:41 pm
How can anyone honestly have faith in this offense come the playoffs?
———–
The Yankees are probably the worst team in baseball
Granderson doesn’t do anything if it he not hitting HRs. The fact that he is our 2nd best player is just the epitome of what is wrong with our offense in recent years.
What a penny ante BS network. Sux shills. And the plays were average. Jackasses.
I’ll let Kuroda finish the inning
Stay positive… Someone will hit a two run homer
You NEVER see the Sox swing at the 1st pitch. But the Yanks do it all the time. It’s such a wasted at bat.
Nix plays a nice third.
Stay positive some Yankee with hit a two run homer
If he gets this out quick I’ll have him go out for the 9th
“Stay positive… Someone will hit a two run homer”
Im just stunned.
Absolutely stunned.
We have one of the fastest guys in baseball on 2nd and we actually get a soft hit basehit by Jeter with RISP and the 3rd base coach holds him up.
Thats the point of having speed like Ichiro on the team. THats the entire point. Speed to create runs.
Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:43 pm

Of course i hope it’s a Yankee who hits a two run homer. Because of not that does help us
Nix is a good glove, Trisha, you’re right about that.
I would be shocked if the Yanks resign Granderson. The homeruns are nice but the strikeouts and non contact is too much and his defense will start going down. On a short contract he would be nice but he is definitely going to get a 5 year deal and I can’t see the Yanks doing that.
Granderson is an effing loser. He’s HR or bust. Im sick of his crap. I dont want this guy long term. I wish we’d consider trading him to the Phillies for Lee and Pence. Or some variation that gets rid of Granderson. He is disgusting.
A good, nice guy that enjoys the game. But Im sick of him.
kuroda has been as advertised. impressive stuff
“How can anyone honestly have faith in this offense come the playoffs?”
Watching tonight’s game it’s a reasonable question. Watching Friday night’s game it would have been a ridiculous question.
Also, we will hopefully have Swisher at full health and Arod at full health. Makes a big difference. Arod had really started to heat up and Swisher definitely knows how to make things happen.
Do not use Soriano in this game under any circumstances, he will blow it.
luis, Cano cant get anyone. He’s an ass hole.
Ichiro would have been out by 20 feet at home on that play…If he was sent and thrown out people would be crying in here… Of course people are always crying in here… It feels like a mets blog
One swing away now. Big bomb by Russ which looks even larger because the end of the last inning didn’t end on a positive note.
Kuroda with a very good outing. Helped out a lot tonight by the dp ball but that is all part of pitching. Getting a timely ground ball when needed.
Let’s see what happens here. 6 outs left to get 1 run. Very doable.
I hope Ibanez pinch hits for Jones even against a lefty. He has gotten too much playing time and has gotten exposed.
That 0-1 pitch wasnt a strike.
Cano is really annoying when he is not hitting well
And might as well let Kuroda finish the game
Yanks have been so poor in these situations this season. About time we had a walk-off win.
he was safe
Cano was out
Good job RObbie!!! Maybe if youd hustled out of the box or stretched your last stride to 1B, maybe you’d have made it. You worthless smiling twat.
Cano lately hasn’t been swinging good. Hasn’t shown up in this series, that’s for sure..
If Cano had run through the bag instead of slowing up, he’s safe. See how the weight was on his heels as he came up to the bag?
The Yanks Now have a reserve player in LF and 3B, and in the batting order. No way you can do that till mid Sept.
I think curt should be banned… Who’s in charge here
if jones bats. i hope he pokes one over the right field wall
I thought Robi Wan Canobi™ would save us.
He swung at ball 4
LOL

Jon Heyman?@JonHeymanCBS
a trade for beckett? boston has given indications it would discuss beckett in the right deal.
nice stare at strike 3 Swish..
That pitch was right over the plate
By all means.. stare at the last pitch down the middle of the plate.
How’s that a strike?
Jeezus Christ swisher. Right down the pipe.
Wasted.
Thats why you send the fastest guy on your team home with 1 out on an actual RISP hit by Jeter.
Out or safe, its the right decision to send him. You dont leave it in the hands of 200 Strikeouts Granderson. YOu acquired Ichiro for his speed and game changing abilities. and you didnt utilize him.
That slider is not easy to hit
This team’s approach at the plate is so laughable. If the opposing pitcher doesn’t throw it right in their wheelhouse, they are completely lost
Bobby V. would rather have Miller vs Jones than Padilla vs. Ibanez obviously.
Turns out Bobby V. was wrong.
Andruuuuuuw!
Now put in Ibanez to pinch run. JK
Ball stayed up
The jones bashers are flustered
Cano doesnt know how to run through the bag. Hustle isnt required for him
Nice hit but the Yanks will never get a big 2 out hit
Here comes A) big hit. Or B) another RISP fail?
Come on Russ…get on base
We need a pinch runner
Jones cheated on that fastball. Can anyone get Orel to shut up?
Ibanez?
“This team’s approach at the plate is so laughable. If the opposing pitcher doesn’t throw it right in their wheelhouse, they are completely lost”
Jones just got a hit.
Well okay. But why do they get on base with 2 outs, time after time, leave them stranded? They’re diseased!
“Here comes A) big hit. Or B) another RISP fail?”
B , easily. Unless Martin gets a HR pitch, he is not getting a hit.
Wow going for the 4 out save with the Mexican Gangster.
I would pinch hit for Martin with Ibanez…but Girardi would never do it. If Martin doesn’t hit a homerun he is an easy out.
“I think curt should be banned… Who’s in charge here”
Ken he has been, many times actually. Ignore if at all possible.
I like our chances tonight against Aceves
Get us a runner with speed at 2B
Geeze, if the Yanks were as bad as some of the constant comments, I doubt they’d be in first place in the majors and 8 up in the AL East. They don’t look in top form every single game. It is the second half of the season and they do have some guys banged up! Give them a break!
Yeah aceves multiple innings is asking a lot
bloop hit is all we need
3-5 is not a big sample size there…
I might use Ibanez…
Again, just get on base
Assface Aceves is on roids. Guy is a disgusting human being.
just get on base please
These espn guys analyze the game too much. They try to make it seem like it’s a play off game and act upset that the fans aren’t treating it like that. They have to shut up sometimes and let the game play itself out. Orel doesn’t stop talking.
Nice Jones!
THAT
YES!!!!!!!!
That was amazing. The 1st pitch!!! lol
lol ill take that too.. maybe this will wake him up
Russell and his .180 avg comes through
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Russ going up the middle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Professional hitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there you go.
martin wants to be a yankee next year. he’s going to be a different player in the next few months
Yeah, Coltrane! Tied!
Maybe we get off Russell’s back for a few minutes?
The muscle is hot!!!
Martin against a rhp!
The answer is A
Oh yea! That was in the wheelhouse.
my bad .189 avg
Cry babies don’t cheer… People who have complained all night just stay quiet and eat your lucky charms
I did Not realize Ellsbury had such a wash-rag arm. Mickey Rivers hadda cannon compared to Ellsbury.
This team is just the worst. Especially that Russ-Mart guy.
Ok…let’s get the lead
If the game stays tied I hope Girardi uses Robertson in the 9th and not Soriano. Soriano doesn’t look the same if he isn’t pitching with a lead.
The stadium wants Ichiro to yank one out so badly!
Wow everyone aboard the Russ Bus.

Kuroda?
Robertson?
We haven’t had a walk off in a while.
kd,
I wouldn’t hold my breath on Martin though
one more run so kuroda gets the win he deserves, please
Do not use Soriano, let Kuroda go back out there
Go easy on Rivers, playing craps wears a brother out!
Why ESPN consistently uses that camera from behind the catcher in the 2nd deck is beyond me. You cannot judge squat when that camera is used.
Hey Unknown,
It has been a very good game in deed
you’re right luis. i just really hope he can.
the team needs rh power with arod on the shelf
Rivers loved playing the ponies.
Ichiro has had some nice swings but only 6 hits to show for it this week.
Please Soriano have an easy inning
mick, wherever you are – TOLD YA!
Don’t like this move….I would have used Roberton
Go, Sori!
I would have kept Kuroda in there. You don’t always have to go by the book
Wow. Soriano? Is this groundhog day? Jesus
For f’s sake. Soriano?!? Is DRob in a coma??
COME ON SORI!!!!
The mark of a good player. Forget yesterday.
Oh no!!
Robertson that is
GregD. Really good. His slider was nasty. I can kind of see the comparisons to DRob except he’s got the slider instead of DRob’s CB and commands his FB a little better. He’s also small like DRob, although a little stockier and also wears #30. I’m hoping I get to see him pitch again this week.
Deja vu? NOOOOOO
This effing loser. Why did he go to Soriano 2 straight games in the same situation???
And now Crawford is on 1st, and they wont be bunting him over. He’ll be taking 2nd immediately.
Ugh… That’s how big innings start
What about Logan or ripada? Cc can’t his lefties
Damn that is going to cost them. Now Crawford will steal 2nd base.
Mickey gambled on everything, ha ha, probably would bet with somebody whether they’d lend him money or not, haha
C’mon Soriano!
Deja vu?
Good job jackass.
Binder Joe went with the closer again. Same crap different day.
This is so stupid.
Curt – the last thing we need is bad energy. Please stop complaining now. It might work in reverse. Thanks,
Kuroda was averaging almost 13 pitches. He wasn’t laboring
Say what you want about pedroia but he will get the runner over
It stinks to hit a guy who can’t hit himself on base
Oh please
One down.
Keep it going Sori!
Ok that’s a big out
Bronx Cheer for Grandy on that fly ball.
“Say what you want about pedroia but he will get the runner over”
He better be careful with AGon here
Lucky that stayed in the park. Perfect situation to have gone lefty righty lefty
Great camera work

Igotid,
Could be wrong though…But he had thrown 110 pitches already…

Good job Sori!

Damn Jones looks like he is running on 1 leg
When was the last Yankee walk off? Russell Martin?
Ok. Have to give credit to sori but I still don’t like the move
Uno mas, Sori.
Yea, ESPN totally botched the pick-off.
Huge!!! Good recovery Soriano. Still disagree with the move.
I think 102 pitches for Kuroda.
AND THERE YOU GO!
Good job SORI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice inning by Soriano. Now let’s end this game now!!!
Here we go Yankees here we go!!
Anyone see that choo is available? Very talented player. An outfield of choo grandy and ichiro would look good
What was Girardi thinking, putting Soriano in? After Granderson misplayed a ball in CF? That buffoon!
LOVE IT. Ross dogs it on 3rd out.
Yes!!…it worked, but I don’t think Sori is the same pitcher without a save situation, hence me liking Drob better in this situation

Closer goes in at home in a tie game at the top of the 9th. On top of it, everyone should know well enough that Girardi gets guys right back on there in the same situation after they’ve failed. He shows his confidence in them. Fans have glass jaws. Managers can’t.
Okay Orel, enough with the Tony Roberts crap!
Can Orel shut up for one minute? We don’t want to hear about the loser Sux every second.
Go Jeet!!
I don’t know why all you guys doubt Martin….I knew he could do it all along
He’s been coughing for 17 years
C’mon grandy
.I knew he could do it all along
==========================
NostraBlake
Maybe Granderson can make up for it by walking off right here. Come on you idiot. YOu hit 100 home runs. Jsut end this game.
I would bring in the lefty if I was valentine
Time for Grandy to make up for last night
The Yanks need a homerun otherwise it could take them forever to score another run
I would bring in the lefty here…
i hate aceves… now that he’s a redsox.
They ragged Jones to no end, and say Nothing about Ross giving away the 3rd out in the 9th.
Tito second guessing
I love Grandy’s batting stance. So much power loaded into that crouch.
extra innings folks
Can Phelps pitch again tonight if necessary? He didn’t pitch a lot last night.
didn’t get it….
So even the short red sox Yankee games are long…sigh
Girardi has stated that he doesn’t want to use Phelps two days in a row
Well that inning stunk….
If the Yankees knew that Assface Aceves could provide us 1/10 of what he’s provided the Red Sox, we would have signed him to a major league deal in a heartbeat.
But he couldnt be expected to ever throw another pitch in the majors. Constant injuries, back spasms, and with the Red Sox, nothing. NO injuries along with a 96 mph fastball… all PEDs
I HATE STERLING. He SUCKS at his job.
I think Phelps could go. More than a day’s rest at home
Blake,
Nostradamus and Blake….NostraBlake…You are a prophet

Can Phelps pitch again tonight if necessary? He didn’t pitch a lot last night.
—————
Probably could but I think they’re going to use him every other day. Especially if he throws 2 or more innings
A visionary I should say
Phelps hasn’t pitched back to back games all season….actually Joe has usually given him 2 or 3 days between appearances so far so I kinda doubt he’ll pitch tonight…..he probably could though.
“Maybe Granderson can make up for it by walking off right here. Come on you idiot. YOu hit 100 home runs. Jsut end this game.”
Can you try to be positive or say nothing until the game is over. Then if there is reason for you to biotch, you can do it up a storm. You know I believe in positive energy, good karma, and all that stuff. Just asking as a favor – though I know your negative stuff keeps blowing up in your face.
Your call. If you’re doing a reverse nelson, keep it up. If you mean it, maybe try to hold back.
Thanks.
“So even the short red sox Yankee games are long…sigh”
Ha. So true.

Hey Luis. I’m looking for a walk off.

Did he think grander sons was gone?
“Nostradamus and Blake….NostraBlake…You are a prophet
”
too bad my real predication probably would have been a K or pop up….thanks for proving me wrong Russ!
COME ON DROB!!!
But if the game goes past midnight then it is another day
It’s most likely Robertson, Logan, Rapada and then game over if Qualls comes in.
Come on Robertson. No walks….
No lead off walk
Throw strikes!
I think Joba can pitch the 17th if it gets that far. They’re faxing the paperwork to the league office right now.
Let’s hold ‘em 1st, then start talkin’ about a walk-off.
Ugh
Not good
aND here comes the pinch runner.
Wow. Hope DRob has his houdini on tonight.
I think Joba has a better shot at closing after Rivera retires.
come on DRob…..make them beat you….
by all means. walk the lead off hitter.
Robertson is unreal with these walks. He was really over throwing there….
Oh great!
that’s a foul ball.
It hit the bat.
That was freakin funny. Like a 3 stooges gag
Like picking up the spare on a 7-10 split. Nice.
hit the bat
It is a foul ball
He was trying to bunt
Should be a foul ball
They better not give him 1st base. He was trying to bunt….
He definitely better NOT get first base.
Baloney. He did Not pull the bat back till he got plunked
He was bunting.
He bunted at that ball. This is sick.
Valentine sit down. He is such a clown…
its a strike move on
Drob is drunk tonight
He offered on the bunt.
I think I saw that at Serra Bowl, Nick! Haha
There was some wood there, it might have hit the hand as well, but he was clearly trying to hit the ball…Middlebrooks was just trying to sell the HBP
Bye Bye Bobby!!
Valentine purposely got thrown out.
What a pathetic jackass.
That’s a call a manager has to get tossed on either way…..I think they made the right call though.
Umpire just got drilled, and then Immediately has gotta listen to Bobby V’s Garbage.
Umps are so lame. Only sport where they have to be the center of attention
quick, someone go get bobby’s disguise.
Oh. Not the gum toss. That should be a fine…
Toss Adrian can’t argue balls and strikes from the duggout
Valentine is just trying to get his last place team fired up. It’s very obvious, move on.
agon’s about to get run
Does anybody have a fake mustache Bobby can borrow?
are these commentators morons?
it clearly hit both the bat and his hand
is it that hard to believe that it hit both? Orel is great for some things… but he is a complete fool on others.
He pulled the bat back too late.
He pulled it back after it hit him
Throw out AGon also that loser
“Valentine purposely got thrown out.”
No question. Maybe he’ll come back out with a moustache.
IT HIT THE BAT. YOU HEARD THE STUPID SUCKER.
ESPN can’t get over it. 2500 views of the same thing. But none of Crawford supposedly safe at first.
The ball is over the plate. He bunts at it and gets hit over the plate. And yet these ESPN clowns are whining for a HBP
That gum hit my eye! I’ll sue, I’ll sue!
Lost in this whole Middlebrooks/Bobby V thing is that Robertson is not looking good.
Soriano threw only 8 pitches, but he did blow the game yesterday.
looked like it clearly hit the bat first to me…..
Now the Red Sux will go on a 20 game winning streak
Time for beers and wings for Bobby and Beckett
unreal!!!!!!! a base hit..
Omg, Drob is so low
Doesn’t matter.
ESPN is obnoxious
terrible job by Robertson. awful to give up a hit on an 0-2 pitch
That looked like a DP ball. Nix didn’t even move…
Just throw strikes please.
and it didn’t matter…..Robertson come on man.
If it hit the bat first it doesn’t matter it it hit you
- BIGGEST R\SOX HOMERS -
(1) Peter Gammons
(2) Orel Hershiser
Did anyone hear that loser with his baseball gods comment? Dan Shulman…
What a sickening. I wish all of these broadcasters dead.
In some trouble here
Justice being served? Is this the Red Sox network? What a load!
“Now the Red Sux will go on a 20 game winning streak”
So doubtful as to not even be considered.
Is Logan up?
If the Sox have lefties coming up I would get Logan up. A walk and 0-2 hit from Robertson, terrible job so far.
lead off walks are the worst thing ever.
Robertson is not the same guy. Something lacking.
Change the name to ESPN to NESPN
seriously, did george steinbrenner spit on orel’s kids?
he’s such a red sox homer is makes me sick
Need a K now
need a K here
Now’s the time for DRob to put his houdini on.
Hi yankee fans, wayward there for a while. Trish, I played a mean 3rd base at six – a long way to throw that , ” soft,” ball from way over there. Anysways,..good temps. Beat these people so that I might remain out of last
don’t forget we all contemplate Thurman in these dog days.
The Sox will definitely score the runner from 3rd here. I don’t think it’s even a question.
Lead off walks kill ya.. Hopefully not
This time
The only justice being served is if Im allowed to enter the broadcasting booth yesterday and strangle Buck and McCarver and the enter the booth tonight and torture Hershiser and Shulman, cut off their manhood, and then suffocate them with each other’s cut off manhood.
Agree. You walk the leadoff hitter in the 10th, your cutting your own throat.
Ciriaco again. Classic.
I have your back DRob. Do your thing!
Curiaco batting like .800 vs the yanks. Walk him.
Man the ESPN crew hated that call. Too funny.
Adrian didn’t get tossed. But Beckett did. Of course any chance or excuse he can get to head back into the clubhouse he is going to take.
the funny thing is that Francona is the most unbiased of the bunch
Not that way DRob.
Good lord.
Joba is the next closer.
bull sh*T
I am out…Good night everyone
unreal… a cheapie.. that’s what he gets for walking saltalamacchia
So curt can’t be banned?
Wow, robertson has just been garbage.
Padilla for the save opportunity???
Ciriaco does nothing against the rest of the league… Amazing!
Damn Ciriaco with another lucky hit
What a surprise. This loser scores the runner on 1 pitch.
This would be a terrible loss. Robertson has been awful since coming off the dl.
Pedro Ciriaco won the game again. Pedro Ciriaco. Just won another game. He’s won all 3 games against us this season.
Thanks Robertson. All those Robertson fans severely overrated this chump.
Oh that blows!
Bring in a lefty.
“the funny thing is that Francona is the most unbiased of the bunch”
Amazing isn’t it. He really is.
“that’s what he gets for walking saltalamacchia”
———–
always been DRob’s problem
It’s not really luck because if you don’t walk the lead off guy they don’t score.
All chuckles in that booth now
They just fxxxking suck now.
Choking job indeed.
Choke, pure choking
So much for the best team in baseball. Can’t even beat a bunch of scuffling jack offs.
Yeah lead off walks murder… But a bloop and a blast is all we need
Tex Cano Swish….
far from over
lead off walks score the vast majority of the time….it’s a fact of baseball.
That’s why you don’t walk the leadoff batter.
1 batter too late.
Can someone please hit a homerun please?
You cant get Ciriaco out, you shouldnt win. That simple. Its always the FOX and ESPN games that cost us. We give FOX and ESPN exactly what they want.
d-rob in a tie game seems like a losing proposition every time.
This reminds me of the west. Last games, staying up late to see a one run loss. Ugh
Watch Tex, Cano and Swisher all swing for the fences for a 1-2-3 inning. There’s no way these hitters play off one another despite the fact that the fans went wild over Ichiro’s infield cheapie and Martin’s RBI single.
Jmills, your shrink is looking for you.
Robertson is a big concern, he can’t be trusted at all now. His location/command has been dreadful since coming off the dl. it seems like he is never throwing strikes and the walks are killing them.
Francona is the least biased of any ESPN or FOX broadcaster. Ironic..
Wow lots of you have given up…
Once again, crucial point in the game, and it comes when A-Rod woulda hit.
“Ciriaco does nothing against the rest of the league… Amazing!”
Actually that’s not true.
One final thought….ESPN sucks, they are Sux homers, no doubt…But There are certain comments that shouldn’t be said in a public blog…
Cano will be ked, he is waaaaaaaay overrated
At least you didn’t see it in person, Chambliss, I did
Theyre using Assface Aceves again?
His back problems are a thing of the past.
At this point it will be a surprise if the Yankees win . . . a pleasant one, for sure, but a surprise. A little better performance by the offense and it wouldn’t have come to this. Let’s see if they have a rally in them.
Okay for the crying fans if the yanks tie it up don’t cheer… I still think yanks will win
3 guys who can hit it out
Not too sure what happened to the ” beast” team we were watching for about 6 weeks, but this team is playing horrible. 0-4 vs the a’s, 1-2 against the sox. So, that equals a 1-6 record vs decent teams. Heck, they looked pretty bad against the marines too. Hopefully they break out of this and win 7 of their next 10.
kinda wish padilla was pitching now
we’ll see 3 pitchers for the Sox this inning
There goes Tex with the uppercut.
Cano’s turn.
Why no interference from the fans?
Get this effing behind home plate camera the eff out of here already.
man
cmon fans
you coulda interfered once it hit the stands
Damn.
We need a Robby jack right now.
Worthless fans in those seats
Way to not help there, fans. Yanks are in nothing but homer mode, it’s unbelievable.
Terrible job by the fans in foul territory.
Who gives a F, luis?
Valentine gets himself thrown out and they immediately win the game.
Cano is our last chance.
Lame fans there. Free ball in the stands
Old school, thanks
I have a thing or two to relate to that group!
Tex swinging for a homerun. What a surprise. That was a terrible pitch to swing at.
Way not to help out, Yankee fans.
That fat fan is so stupid. That’s why he is fat
if i ever see a Sox glove reach into the stands and could reach it, screw the ball, I’ll pull the glove right off his hand
Robi Wan Canobi™, you’re our only hope.
Pretty funny how the team crashes when Cano isn’t hitting .700.
Has cano made contact tonight?
Good AB here, Robi!
lead off walks score the vast majority of the time….it’s a fact of baseball.
=======
Not when you are pitching against the yankees.
Cano keep swinging at anything in sight….
Quick pitch on Cano
Best team my axx.
No matter what, they won’t pass the first round.
Identical losses two nights in a row. Sweet work.
game over.
Pretty sad that people are bashing the fans. NEWSFLASH: the fans pay to go to these games. TEX gets paid 20 million a year to produce.
Up to Swish. No HR swing, please.
Did anyone seriously think we were going to “walk off”? In the past two-and-a-half years, this team has exactly ONE walk-off win. Think about that. You almost have to try not to win close games to achieve that level of patheticness in the clutch.
Those loser fans had names on the back of their Yankees jerseys. Losers. You have the money for those seats, but you cant get a Yankees jersey without a name on the back.
Sickening. Ciriaco won them 3 games against us this year.
This team is sickening.
way to take one for the team swish
Ibanez?
Vegas odds has it at -250 that Bobby V will take credit if the Sox hold on to win for firing up his team
Bloop and a blast.. Or a hit batsman and a blast either way
This offense really has to wake up. Homerun or nothing isn’t going to get him anywhere in the play offs.
Some magic from Raul would be nice here. RBI Double in the gap would be just fine.
Could have used a Steve Bartman. C’mon Swisher! Way to take one. So Luis, Ibanez is up nervous? I am.
Swish with nine inches of padding takes one off the arm… Lol
Tabbert, it isn’t sad; it is a fans’ job to make sure that territory is enemy territory.
tito sounds scared
**YAWN**
this offense is deader than arlington national cemetery
Game isn’t over ’til it’s over.
Yanks leave well in first place no matter what. Sux lead firmly tied for last no matter what.
Fans play a part in the game. Whether it be vocal or otherwise. That situation was otherwise.
it’s Morales
*fan’s
This Ciriaco loser is WAY too comfortable against the Yanks. If he was on the Yanks the Sox defintiely would have hit him or threw a pitch up and in on him. It’s not even a question. The next time they have to go up and in on him.
can’t believe they’re staying with Aceves at 28 pitches. good for Yanks.
Repeat. Yanks need a middle-of-the-order stick.
This Red Sox team makes me sick. And ESPN shows this to make the fans think the Red Sox have such comraderie.
It’s the YANKEES job to win the game. IF they fans are having to help you win, you don’t deserve to win. Funny, we have the highest payroll and fans still expect other fans to help the team win? What a friggin joke. Now we are blaming the FANS for our blunders. HAHA.
Every team does this, but ESPN focuses on that trash.
Trisha it is true, more than half Ciriacos hits are vs the Yanks
“Repeat. Yanks need a middle-of-the-order stick.”
————-
oh no. they might lose a series to the Sawx.
find the panic button for DONNYBROOK.
I think you can buy one on ebay.
Somebody needs to show Cirriaco how to wear a cap
shame on those fans in the stands for not getting hits with RISP.
Ball was just off the strike zone – a ball.
close
Here comes another curveball
COME ON RAUL!!!!!
Hey good at bat here for Ibanez
Keep going, Raul.
Really good at bat
People get on fans for touching a ball that could have scored a runner from first. So yea we should get on them for not going after a ball they have fair game to
Darn!
Work en Raul!
You people obviously don’t attend baseball games at the Stadium. That’s what the fans do. It isn’t about blaming them, but never mind.
this team is disgraceful.
Fxxxkthem all
had a feeling he should be looking for a soft pitch
Losers
Good at bat for Ibanez. You knew that curveball was coming..
No doubt the Sux will get the 2nd wild card. Bud basically added it just for them, after last season.
It should be called the redsux spot.
Friggin Aceves.
Man Orel has to be wearing Papi jersey in the booth. That guy is one heck of a cheerleader.
He thinks Beckett is going to go on a nice pitching run now that he got thrown out of tonight’s game. LOL
Sure thing Orel, that will definitely be the reason.
Aceves is on HgH. His head is 2x as big as it was when he was in Pinstripes. Is Youk-head contagious? Check the White Sox player’s heads…
Oh jeeze! Make it sound like getting back to .500 is a triumph. Pathetiv
I really hate Aceves…. The yankees have lost what..3-7 in their last ten.
Eh.
Okay if you feel upset, now would be the time to do so – after the final out.
It would have been nice but no big whoop. This won’t change the course of events for either team.
another clutchless yankee team heading for an early playoff exit.
“Oh jeeze! Make it sound like getting back to .500 is a triumph. Pathetiv”
Absolutely.
Trish, ” darn,”….its drat
Guy is hitting 96 on his 34th pitch. Was almost out of baseball with a bad back. Odds that Aceves isn’t juicing out of his eyeballs? 5%? 10%?
“No doubt the Sux will get the 2nd wild card. Bud basically added it just for them, after last season.
It should be called the redsux spot.”
They have no prayer of it. None.
F#$%#% Two tough losses in a row….I just hope that the Sux don’t get a second wind as result, I want them to stay in the bottom…I know is not a big deal, but i just hate losing to them…Kuroda did pitched very well, and so Soriano did…Lead off walks killed us though…Good night everyone
I mean come on. Please someone give me an alternate explanation to how a guy at his age picks up that many mph on his fastball. Guy had two choices: retire with a bad back or get your hands on the finest pharmaceuticals. I would have posted this if Ibanez had taken him deep. I just don’t see how the guy is not juicing like crazy. Or HGH’ing. Or whatever it should be called.
Night luis. They get nowhere without a rotation. They are nobody to fear. They had adrenaline and desperately needed to win. We didn’t have the same level of need. It happens.
Crap, you guys shave a great nuit despite the events. Best!
And yes, those fans were pathetic. It’s so freaking simple: ball hit into foul territory – turn your back to the field, raise your arms above your head, keep your eye on the ball, but swing your arms back and forth above your head. If you can’t do that, you’re worthless. Put your rear end up against the railing and give the fielder your back. If a guy can catch a foul ball over me doing that, more power to him.
more idiots blaming the fans for this loss.
brilliant. lot of rocket scientists here tonight.
