Doubront vs. Yankees

TIME/TV: 8:05 p.m., ESPN

WEATHER: While it was raining when I first got here and they put the tarp on the field for about an hour, it’s actually been pretty nice out for the past two hours. The game is definitely going to start on time, but the forecast gets worse as the night goes on. We shall see.

UMPIRES: HP Brian O’Nora, 1B Chad Fairchild, 2B Alfonso Marquez, 3B Tom Hallion

GOOD & BAD NEWS ON INJURED PITCHERS: Two bits of information have surfaced in the past two hours that effect two rehabbing Yankee pitchers. The good news is that Joba Chamberlain made a successful appearance with Double-A Trenton today. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit while striking out the side in the eighth. He threw 30 pitches, 23 for strikes, with his fastball sitting between 94-98 mph. The bad news is that Andy Pettitte suffered a slight setback. His injured left leg swelled up a bit after he threw on flat ground while the team was in Seattle, but Larry Rothschild said a September 1 return is still feasible.

HIGH FIVE: In their eight games with the Red Sox so far this season, the Yankees have scored at least five runs in each, matching their second longest streak against Boston. They scored at least five against their archrival in 15 straight back in 1932.

IN CLOSING: The Yankees are 21-11 in series finales so far this season. They have won seven of their last nine.

(Note: I’ll be updating the action here every so often, but I’ll be much more active on Twitter. To join the conversation, follow me @vzmercogliano.)

UPDATE, 8:35 p.m.: After a quick, five-pitch first inning, Kuroda just gave up a two-out, two-run double to Sweeney in the top of the second. The Red Sox take an early 2-0 lead.

UPDATE, 9:27 p.m.: The Yankees have really struggled against Doubront tonight. Through four innings, he’s allowed only one hit, but the Yanks have failed to make him pay for five walks. Ichiro has failed to come through twice with two runners on. It’s still 2-0 Sox.

UPDATE, 10:40 p.m.: Martin finally got the Yankees on the board in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer to lead off the inning, but the Yankees blew a chance to tie the game. Ichiro singled and stole second, advancing to third on a single from Jeter. But Granderson flew out to shallow left, and Tex grounded out to second to end the threat. Doubront came out of the game with one out in the seventh, striking out seven while allowing just four hits. He did walk five, but the Yankees failed to capitalize. It’s 2-1 Boston.

UPDATE, 11:01 p.m.: Martin comes through again. His RBI single with two outs in the eighth has tied the game at 2-2. Walk off, anyone?

Go Yankees!! Win tonight, take the series, and it will be a successful weekend.

  2. Villa Nova-Ya July 29th, 2012 at 8:05 pm

I recall Chad talking about Andy walking around and it looked like nothing was wrong. I think Andy probably felt too good and wasn’t careful enough to rest the foot/leg/ankle. Likely if he remembers he has an injury (whether it hurts or not), and gives it the rest it requires, he’ll be okay. It’s human nature to want to rush these things.

  3. Villa Nova-Ya July 29th, 2012 at 8:05 pm

And very excited by the prospect of having Joba back soon.

    Go Yankees!

  4. jackamir July 29th, 2012 at 8:06 pm

  14. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:10 pm

Excellent play on both ends…Nice inning from Kuroda 5 pitches three outs…Sux seem to have the same approach they had last night

  15. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:11 pm

    Sis – broken link! :(

  16. CompassRosy July 29th, 2012 at 8:11 pm

  23. m July 29th, 2012 at 8:15 pm

More like getaway hour, Francona. Players must hate this espn Sunday night game.

  26. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:16 pm

“We are in total agreement there…No mercy to the Sux”

    Not a drop.

  27. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 8:22 pm

    Hi Trisha :D

Sorry that you had all that negativity sent your way.

  28. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 8:24 pm

Hi Luis, Trish et Big Al :) Got home and read Jackson’s 1:14 pm post on catching – lovely, thanks. What a job!, and now that I no longer practice active dentistry, my hands can stand a lil’ roughing up – throw it here Stieb baby!!!

  29. Tabbert July 29th, 2012 at 8:24 pm

Everyone keeps talking about the redsox getting back to full health on offense. Last time i checked, their offense is not the problem. Unless they somehow Revamp that rotation, they aren’t going anywhere.

  30. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 8:24 pm

    Nice pitch

  31. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:24 pm

k! good call by the ump

  32. tomingeorgia July 29th, 2012 at 8:24 pm

    trisha,
Have to go out, but I’m here in spirit. Let’s go, boys!

  33. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:24 pm

Tar, thanks. Peashooter compared to some of the cannons from the past – but nevertheless annoying. It never gets old, if you know what I mean.

    :)

  34. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 8:26 pm

Trish, dito, you have been nothing but gracious unto my being – thanks!!!

  35. Oscar Madison July 29th, 2012 at 8:27 pm

    LMAO ! LMAO !

    Zzzzzzzzzz.

  37. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:27 pm

Tabbert – absolutely the right call. So that makes me feel exceptionally comfortable because that just ain’t happening.

    *************

jmills – did you know that blake is a dentist? I really enjoyed reading the article to which Jackson linked, too. Tough not to have a lot of respect for the responsibility of a catcher!

  38. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:28 pm

    Bx – absolutely.

  39. syd_cash July 29th, 2012 at 8:29 pm

    ugh

  40. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:29 pm

Geesh. Love him but Andruw definitely has slowed down a few steps.

  41. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:29 pm

    damn

  42. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 8:29 pm

    Luis

    Como estas amigo.

    Ouch!!

  43. Jerkface July 29th, 2012 at 8:29 pm

A play where not having Gardner hurts you

  44. NYY fan in NH July 29th, 2012 at 8:29 pm

Yankee pitching starting to look pretty pedestrian lately

  45. jacksquat July 29th, 2012 at 8:29 pm

    Ichiro in LF numbnuts!

  46. NYY fan in NH July 29th, 2012 at 8:30 pm

Hate to lose a series to the Sox in Yankee Stadium no matter how far back they are. Kick them when they are down.

  47. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 8:31 pm

    Jeezus F’ing Christ.

  48. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:31 pm

Hola Tar! Yo estoy muy bien ;) How about you?

    Yup that double hurt.

  49. GoldGlove9486 July 29th, 2012 at 8:31 pm

All a product of Joe Girardi’s bonehead shift with Gonzalez up.

  50. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:31 pm

The good news is that we got Ciriaco out.

  51. egk July 29th, 2012 at 8:32 pm

Jones should definitely be a DH at this stage of his career. His knees are shot and he simply can’t run out there. Personally, I’d leave Ichiro in RF and put Swish in left. Ichiro is still a better fielder than Swisher.

  52. Jerkface July 29th, 2012 at 8:32 pm

All a product of Joe Girardi’s bonehead shift with Gonzalez up.

The shift isn’t boneheaded if the batted ball data indicates A-gon hits most of his ground balls to 1 side of the field. The problem is Nix isn’t a great fielder and couldn’t come up with that easy play and Jeter didn’t even move to attempt to back him up.

  53. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:32 pm

“Hate to lose a series to the Sox in Yankee Stadium no matter how far back they are. Kick them when they are down.”

    Oh yeah.

  54. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 8:34 pm

    ” Oscar Madison July 29th, 2012 at 8:27 pm
    LMAO ! LMAO !”

“.Bx is Burning July 29th, 2012 at 8:27 pm
    Different names, same old trolls.
    Zzzzzzzzzz.”

    Bx your timing is impeccable.

  55. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 8:35 pm

Trish – no, I’ll wish Blake well over it – tough profession on the back and mind.

  56. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 8:36 pm

Girardi has to stop playing Jones in the outfield. He hasn’t hit a lick recently and he doesn’t give any effort on defense. He looks like how Bernie did at 40 years old. I believe that Girardi and Cashman put up with his lazy play in LF. Ichiro better play LF everyday even when they face a lefty, they need his defense.

  57. lil m July 29th, 2012 at 8:36 pm

Unfortunate about giving up runs in the first inning, but hope the offense can get them back soon. And that’s a good start, Swish :)

  58. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:36 pm

    We’ve missed you Swish!!!

  59. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:36 pm

These R\Sox homers in the ESPN Booth are still trashing Jones.

  60. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:36 pm

    Don’t push it Swish…

  61. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:37 pm

That career minor leaguer with a great play at short

  62. Bx is Burning July 29th, 2012 at 8:38 pm

    Thanks, Tar.

  63. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 8:38 pm

    How bout a run.

  64. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:38 pm

This would be a great time for a Martin signature home run.

    ;)

  65. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Swisher must really be hurt. Even someone really slow beats that ball out.

  66. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Swish slid way too early. He was almost atta stop by the time he reached the base.

  67. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:39 pm

    JF,

Good and interesting post, unfortunately couldn’t watch the play. I’ll watch the replay after the game

  68. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 8:39 pm

How does martin have the lowest BA in Al…..

  69. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:39 pm

    Or a signature Martin walk.

    :)

  70. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 8:40 pm

    Make yer bones ichiro!

  71. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:40 pm

I rather see Swinsher not pushing it tonight…If that means going station to station baserunning with him, so be it

  72. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:41 pm

The infield looks slow\damp. Hampered the slide, and slowed down the ground ball so that Ciriacco could get to it.

  73. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 8:41 pm

    Awesome.

  74. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:42 pm

“I rather see Swinsher not pushing it tonight…If that means going station to station baserunning with him, so be it”

    Yes.

  75. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 8:43 pm

Uncle Ellsworth, I avoid stepping loosely from all doors that may leave me stranded in outer space :)

  76. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 8:43 pm

Ichiro is perfect for this team….
    ———

    Andrew Marchand?@AndrewMarchand

Ichiro has been very bad with RISP this season. .143 on the year. 98 at-bats.

  77. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Then swisher should be sitting if he can’t run 100%.

  78. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 8:44 pm

That cicada has been playing way over his head. He’s been a real pest. :D

I say before the game is over he makes a bone headed play to even the score.

  79. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:44 pm

If Swish is gonna Slow-Poke it, he should remain on the pine. The Yanks do Not need guys out there that are Not 100%, when they are up by 8 in the loss column.

  80. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 8:45 pm

Can’t believe this team is struggling against these dirtbag sux.

  81. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:46 pm

All you gotta do is look at the intense concentration on Bobby V’s face. He Wants this game. Too bad he has Coasted against other teams.

  82. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:46 pm

Well which team do you think is playing with greater adrenaline?

  83. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 8:46 pm

He has to go after Crawford here. He stinks….

  84. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 8:47 pm

    Thought he had him

  85. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:47 pm

That’s in reference to struggling against the Sux.

I do not think he was safe. We’ll see.

  86. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:47 pm

What I tell ya. Slow\Damp infield.

  87. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 8:48 pm

Of course they don’t show the replay. He looked out…

  88. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 8:48 pm

this is the 3rd time we are facing doubront no?
and they have not adjusted to him even now.

  89. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Yanks, you have to beat these things as I have no intention of winding up in last place – still project the O’s, Rays, Sox in my rear view mirror which isn’t worth a damn if you ask Marshall McLuhan.

  90. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:49 pm

    Kuroda lolipoping that curve.

  91. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:49 pm

    Tar,

I hope you are right ;)

  92. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Be back in a few. Yankees have my permission to score up a storm, even though I’ll be in the car and wont be able to see it!

  93. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 8:50 pm

    Choking job is in process

  94. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 8:50 pm

“Of course they don’t show the replay. He looked out…”

Unlike FOX not to show every replay.

    Wait a minute…

  95. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 8:50 pm

How come no replay showing the play at first? Was it that obvious that Crawford beat it out?

  96. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 8:51 pm

    Jmills – wise

  97. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:51 pm

Nix almost had that ball handcuff him.

  98. luis July 29th, 2012 at 8:51 pm

Yes!! Good DP there…I thought they had Crawford in the first try, but no harm no foul

  99. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:52 pm

    I thought Crawford beat it.

  100. jacksquat July 29th, 2012 at 8:52 pm

    Crawford was very safe.

  101. NYY fan in NH July 29th, 2012 at 8:53 pm

This is Doubront’s third time facing them. Going 6 innings and giving up 4 hits in the previous games. He was part of the 15-9 game, but pitched well…

  102. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 8:53 pm

Now it’s time to figure out Doubront….

  103. NYY fan in NH July 29th, 2012 at 8:55 pm

I cannot believe that the Yankees will go with Chavez/Nix combo without Alex for 6 weeks or longer. They will both be exposed or injured IMO.

  104. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:55 pm

Oh, and now Hershiser is claiming DuBront has the 2nd best curve in the AL. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  105. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:56 pm

Throw over to see if Jeet was bunting.

  106. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 8:57 pm

I hate Jones, always thought he was a loafer ala Canseco. Dill hole.

  107. NYY fan in NH July 29th, 2012 at 8:57 pm

Another DP for the king of DP’s.. what a rally killer that is

  108. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 8:57 pm

    geez.

  109. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 8:57 pm

The killer DP continues for Jeter. Get the ball out of the damn infield already….

  110. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 8:57 pm

poof… jeter hits into dp. that hurt

  111. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 8:58 pm

Why they do not bunt Jeet with 0 outs is inexplainable.

  112. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 9:00 pm

    Please bunt, captain

  113. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:00 pm

Girardi has blown this inning to hell.

  114. NYY fan in NH July 29th, 2012 at 9:01 pm

Hershisher saying the Yanks don’t have to have that killer mentality the Sox need in this game. If the Yanks feel like they can loaf this series against the hated rivals then maybe this team doesn’t have that killer mentality. They should want to kill this team, and not feel compassionate because they are 10 games back.

  115. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 9:02 pm

Remember when Jeter had us all fooled into thinking he was a good hitter again? Pretty sure he was at .340 for a week or two back in May. Been hitting about .200 since then.

  116. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 9:03 pm

“Why they do not bunt Jeet with 0 outs is inexplainable.”

It’s the 3rd inning and you want them to bunt? And then it’s Giradi’s fault because Jeet hit into a DP? Okie dokie

  117. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:03 pm

Granderson has NO Clue with Dubrondt and his move.

  118. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:04 pm

With 0 Outs and and DP King at bat, I bunt No matter the inning.

  119. NYY fan in NH July 29th, 2012 at 9:05 pm

Yawn!! Maybe they think the is King Felix and not Doubront. Pretty sluggish offense so far.

  120. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:05 pm

I can’t believe the Yanks can’t figure this loser out yet. You would think 3 starts of seeing him would be enough. It takes them too long to adjust to a pitcher.

  121. luis July 29th, 2012 at 9:06 pm

    Guys,

Doubront won’t be able to keep us at bay for long…If Kuroda keeps us right here, we should win this game.

About jeter…He has hit the ball very well tonight, It’s just that he has hit them at players..he tried to go the other way in his last at bat, that was the appropiate approach. it wasn’t a weak grounder to short stop

  122. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 9:07 pm

“With 0 Outs and and DP King at bat, I bunt No matter the inning.”

Classless, spoiled, all too common Yankee fan statement.

  123. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 9:08 pm

    For frack’s sake.

  124. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:09 pm

The guy is a pretty good SP. All the more reason to scrape for runs with the bunt. I’ve seen him several times, and like most young Chuckers, he has had trouble in 1 inning and Not figured out how to escape.

  125. luis July 29th, 2012 at 9:09 pm

    Keep the ball down Hiroki

  128. Tar July 29th, 2012 at 9:10 pm

Should have bunted Ross there I guess, stupid Valentine.

  129. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:10 pm

    As a Mgr, I consider the hitter\pitcher\score.

  130. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 9:11 pm

“Classless, spoiled, all too common Yankee fan statement.”

Holier-than-thou, accusatory, pathetic one-upsmanship. “I’m a better fan than you because I never criticize.” Another thing I see a lot here in the comments!

  131. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 9:12 pm

Bunting down 2 runs in the third inning??? Have you people ever watched baseball

  132. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:13 pm

It’s fine that the Yanks wanted to wait ’til I got back to showcase their hitting!

Dubront is pitching a shutout, right?

    :D

  133. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:13 pm

These fluff interviews with the Mgr are a complete waste.

  134. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 9:15 pm

    Jeezus are these guys asleep?

  135. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 9:15 pm

Beckett n lester. lester n beckett.

  136. cs in la July 29th, 2012 at 9:17 pm

Just admit that Beckett and Lester aren’t that good anymore guys.

  137. luis July 29th, 2012 at 9:17 pm

Yup Uncle….A Sux love fest on ESPN right now

  138. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 9:18 pm

    some hot hitting tonight

  139. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:18 pm

Hershiser claiming Beckett has Not lost any MPH is hilarious. He needs to actually watch a Beckett pitched game.

  140. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:19 pm

I love Tito as an analyst. Guess he didn’t read the ESPN manifesto.

  141. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:20 pm

For the R\Sox and all their fans at ESPN, THIS is as close to a playoff game as they will see in 2012.

  142. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:21 pm

Now they are even trashing the New stadium crowds. Guess their Trash Material is running out.

  143. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 9:21 pm

    Xtree basehit.

ok now bag on the old and stadiums all at once. now the ys workers

  144. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 9:22 pm

  145. luis July 29th, 2012 at 9:23 pm

    Ichiro,

A patient at bat would be welcomed

  146. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 9:23 pm

how do you walk five yankees and not give up any runs?

  147. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 9:23 pm

How is it possible for Dan Shulman and Performing Orel Hershiser to be bigger ass suckers of the Red Sox than Tito???

Did anyone hear the crap from Performing Orel about if Beckett and Lester were .500, the Red Sox would be 3.5 games out of 1st place in the division and would be leading the wild card?

  148. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Please, Hershie, stop with the old stadium vs the new stadium crap. What’s next, posting a photo of you kissing the green monster! STFU!

  149. jackamir July 29th, 2012 at 9:24 pm

    Ichy becomes a Yankee tonight.

  150. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:24 pm

    Pazienza, Benny.

  151. astrocityfan July 29th, 2012 at 9:24 pm

Ichiro getting a taste of the rivalry here. Hope he comes through

  152. astrocityfan July 29th, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Ichiro swinging for the fences lol

  153. jackamir July 29th, 2012 at 9:27 pm

    Toast

  154. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 9:27 pm

    Fail again.

  155. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Now Hershiser claims, “previously, you never saw Ichiro swing and miss”. More lunacy.

  156. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 9:27 pm

another night, another small army left on base.

  157. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Ichiro fits in perfect. Pathetic job by the offense once again.

  158. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 9:30 pm

Good to hear al trautwig at the olympics

  159. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:30 pm

“Now Hershiser claims, “previously, you never saw Ichiro swing and miss”. More lunacy.”

There was actually excitment in his voice when he said it. I believe Hershiser, besides being a shill for ESPN, suffers from professional jealousy because he has more naked fingers than a lot of the Yankees do.

  160. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:30 pm

Yanks need a middle of the order stick to replace A-Rod.

  161. GregD July 29th, 2012 at 9:30 pm

this crew for ESPN is 10 times better than the FOX crew

  162. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 9:31 pm

I guess they can’t think of anything original to say, “Ichiro speaks English” Really?

  163. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:32 pm

Now that there is a lull, they are back to trashing Jones.

  164. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:32 pm

Poor Kuroda. He knows if he gives up another run or 2 this game is over.

  165. astrocityfan July 29th, 2012 at 9:32 pm

Greg that is a low bar to set lol

  166. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:32 pm

Ironic that Tito has to be the one to start any conversation about Sux deficiencies.

  167. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 9:33 pm

    That was a nasty pitch!

  168. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 9:34 pm

Hey yankee fans yanks will Figure out how to win this game. Just don’t be such negative nancies. But they do strand a lot runners…

  169. Cashmoney July 29th, 2012 at 9:34 pm

dub is pitching well albeit walking hitters, Yanks lineup is light with LH on the mound. Kuro san better hold it there.

  170. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:34 pm

Not really much of a choice between the Fox Crew and the Espn Crew. It’s like voting for President.

  171. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:34 pm

I love how they talk about Smurfy Pedroia like he is some great player. If he was on any other team no one would even know who he is.

  172. astrocityfan July 29th, 2012 at 9:35 pm

If all you knew about baseball was what these three guys have said tonight you’d swear Pedroia was the greatest player to ever play and Agon had a personality. Both are equally ridiculous

  173. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:35 pm

    Larry Fleisher?@larryfleisher

The Yankees scored three off Doubront three hitters in on July 7. Since that point, they are 3-for-33 against him with a few walks mixed in.

  174. Uncle Ellsworth July 29th, 2012 at 9:35 pm

    Has hershiser ever tasted mayonaise?

  175. EA July 29th, 2012 at 9:38 pm

Yanks need to get a bat before the deadline. This is ridiculous.

  176. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 9:38 pm

  177. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:39 pm

  188. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 9:44 pm

  189. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 9:44 pm

Compressing the pitch count? You. Mean throw less, Einstein? Jeez,

  190. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:46 pm

    HOLD ‘EM HERE HIROKI!!!

  191. RMike July 29th, 2012 at 9:46 pm

Granderson is going to age very poorly with his long swing

We’re seeing tonight the results of neglecting the offense and relying on so many aging players who can’t hit off-speed stuff. It’s only going to get worse as the years go on

  192. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:47 pm

If the Sox score this 3rd run the Yanks are done for the night. Then we will see those lazy swing at anything at bats.

  193. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:50 pm

That play by Jeter is really going to hurt them. Whenever the Yanks have made mistakes/errors against Boston this year it has cost them the game.

  194. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:51 pm

I think it’s time to get the bullpen up. Kuroda is starting to nibble.

  195. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 9:51 pm

Losing to the lowly sux. Amazing.

  196. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:51 pm

RMike, this game feel like it is lacking energy. I think part of the reason is that the Sux are a last-place team and pretty far out of first so it doesn’t feel like a typical Ys-Sux game. I know I don’t feel the same level of excitement as I usually do when they play. I still hope the Ys take this game but I know I won’t have the level of aggravation that I usually do if the Sux take a series.

  197. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 9:51 pm

Jeet starting to juggle\drop balls more frequently. It used to be if he got a glove onna ball, he caught it. That is No longer the case.

  223. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:58 pm

  224. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:59 pm

HIROKI I WAS SOO SOO WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!

  225. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 9:59 pm

  226. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 9:59 pm

That inning definitely should have energized the Yanks.

  227. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 10:00 pm

This is awful. 1 hit against this waste of human feces Doubront.

  228. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 10:00 pm

This is what they call, “hanging around”.

  229. J. Alfred Prufrock July 29th, 2012 at 10:00 pm

Kidding? Jones read it beautifully And glided to the ball. That’s what instinctive OFers do. They don’t cut up the carpet.

    Cy F’ing doubront

  231. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 10:00 pm

  232. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:00 pm

They have to get his pitch count up so they can get into that terrible bullpen in the 7th inning.

  233. GregD July 29th, 2012 at 10:01 pm

this guy is definitely better than Lester

  234. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 10:01 pm

    Look at this loser strikeout.

Yankees batters have no life, no desire tonight. Might as well pack it in for tonight.

  236. astrocityfan July 29th, 2012 at 10:02 pm

  240. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 10:02 pm

two hits both by the injured guy…..

  241. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 10:02 pm

This guy has a lotta Pedro in his attitude on the mound.

  242. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 10:03 pm

“This is awful. 1 hit against this waste of human feces Doubront.”

That would be two. Actually your negative posts are bringing us good luck! Keep complaining. Seriously.

  243. G. Love July 29th, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Yankees definitely look like they were content to take first game of series and nothing more right now.

  244. Yank1 July 29th, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Francona is such a fool. The guy was fired from the Sox and they aired all his dirty laundry about being on medications and his martial problems and stuff, and this guy still feels an allegiance to them. He picked them to make the playoffs in the spring, he said he wore both of his WS rings specifically to Yankees spring training visit, and showed up to the 100th anniversary as if he has some great relationship with the team

Guy is an idiot, like the boyfriend who cheats on his girlfriend and hen dumps her to the side and throws her clothes out of the window, then the girl still tries to be good friends with him.

Meanwhile, we fired Torre in a dignified fashion to his face and he writes a book killing the organization and took 3 years before the guy even forgave us, while he got his coaches and family members to kill the Yankees (remember Frank Torre mocking the Yankees for missing the playoffs in 08?)

The Sox have like a hypnotic spell over these guys. No matter how much they screw over someone, the person still begs them for forgiveness and doesn’t get hurt by getting dumped ungratefully by the organization

  245. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Here comes Jones to swing for the fences

  246. jackamir July 29th, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Sleepwalking, there is no fire in the Yanks tonight!!!!

  247. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 10:04 pm

What an awesome rally. Sure showed doubront.

  248. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 10:04 pm

this could be a typical game vs. this felix.
he shuts them down and then his bullpen comes in and blows it for him.
These quick outs are extending the game for him though.

  249. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 10:05 pm

Maybe Francona has deferred $$$ still rolling in from the R\Sox.

  250. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 10:05 pm

    “Look at this loser strikeout.

Yankees batters have no life, no desire tonight. Might as well pack it in for tonight.”

Do you forget the night at fenway when FOX cut away to Humber’s (I think was Humber) perfect game, with the Yankees losing by something like 6 runs, and when they cut back, the score was something like 7-6 Yanks? They are capable of exploding.

    Here’s hoping they do.

  251. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:05 pm

Jones is sooooo lost. Every at bat is either a strike out or pop up. Pathetic…

  252. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 10:05 pm

if swisher wasn’t in the lineup, we’d be getting no-hit through six.

  253. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 10:06 pm

Yank1, all these guys know theyll be blackballed from baseball and ruined if they dare be slighted by getting ripped by the Red Sox upon their departure.

Look at Curt Schilling for example. He opened his mouth about BObby V being a bad hire by the REd Sox… What happened to him?? He lost all his money.

There’s a price to pay for daring to stand up to the Red Sox or even disagreeing with them.

  254. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 10:06 pm

There’s only total recall movie and that stars Arnold… “all these people need is a little air”

  255. J. Alfred Prufrock July 29th, 2012 at 10:07 pm

    Primo! :)
Went to see joba in trenton. Threw gas and had good slider and curve. We need sOme runs. Eh? I’m on iPhone so can’t pOst much

  256. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 10:07 pm

Someone wake up these energized yanks.

  257. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 10:08 pm

    Which team wants more?
    Sux.

  258. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:08 pm

You have to be kidding me. Get Jones out of the outfield!!!!

  259. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 10:08 pm

    Pete Abraham?@PeteAbe

Chanting “Boston sucks” when you’re getting two-hit by Felix Doubront kind of lame, no?
    ___

Yes but not as lame as Boston fans chanting Yankees suck when we are in first and they are in last.

  260. J. Alfred Prufrock July 29th, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Now that wasn’t a good jump

  261. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Kuroda giving up hits like the Astros are players.

  262. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 10:09 pm

    “Which team wants more?

    Sux.”

I’m thinking you’re right. Wants more, needs more, has the most to lose, etc.

  263. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 10:09 pm

I am so effing angry at coming back last night only to have this 200 strikeout loser Granderson misplay us out of a game.

And then no hustle Andruw costing us a 2nd run tonight.

We play against the Red Sox like we dont care. Just pound these pieces of crap into the ground, stomp on their throats, strangle every last breath out of them, and hang them by their legs. Kill them. But no, we’re just intent upon giving FOX and ESPN the opportunity to prop up their Red Sox and give them hope.

  264. lil m July 29th, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Wow – five walks is a lot – can’t say they haven’t had their chances. Hope Kuroda can continue to hold down the Red Sox.

  265. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:09 pm

I would bring Ibanez in for defense. Jones can’t hit and he is killing them out there.

  266. J. Alfred Prufrock July 29th, 2012 at 10:11 pm

Pete abe Is juvenIle. BostOn’s 10 games out and in last place chanting that they suck is merely accurate

  267. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 10:11 pm

If Kuroda can keep it at 2…

Yanks haven’t scored any runs but if Jones had been able to attack on two of those plays, the Sux probably wouldn’t have any runs either. Just sayin’

It isn’t like the Sux are running roughshod over the Yanks.

  268. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:11 pm

    That’s another big DP

  269. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 10:11 pm

  270. blake July 29th, 2012 at 10:11 pm

Kuroda is pitching great….battling tough….they need to get him some runs

  271. luis July 29th, 2012 at 10:12 pm

    Primo,

Saw Ashmore videos…he looks very fit and mechanically looked very good, couldn’t tell much about stuff, because of the angle the video was taken.

Another DP!! att bot Kuroda san!…Come on Yankees, pick Hiroki san up!!

I hope Girardi does that. No offense to Jones but we need the defense to help keep the score where it is.

    Ken Rosenthal ?@Ken_Rosenthal

Hearing Price for #Indians’ Choo is a major leaguer – a good one – with less than three years service time. Choo free agent after 2013.

  274. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 10:13 pm

Kind of lame and offensive and saddening is that an obese piece of worthless trash like Pete Abe is still living, when that mother of the deceased 6 year old from the psycho batman killer just had a miscarriage and wil be paralyzed the rest of her life. Saddening that no justice exists for scum like Pete Abe, but innocent people lose their families for no reason.

  275. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 10:14 pm

Kuroda having a strong outing get him some runs

  276. blake July 29th, 2012 at 10:14 pm

  279. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Looks like the Yankees can’t meet that asking price for Choo, eh Blake? The only player who fits that description is Nova and the Yankees won’t trade Nova for 1.5 years of Choo.

  280. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Cashman has gotta get a middle of the order stick, or what we are seeing tonight, is gonna be the norm till mid Sept. We saw the Dodgers go thru the same thing when Kemp was out. It eventually catches up to a team.

  281. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Hey curt do us a favor and don’t type for the next 20 minutes

  282. luis July 29th, 2012 at 10:16 pm

Jones is a very good OF ..Ibanez does plays the game right, but i wouldn’t bring Ibanez for D

  283. Abomb82 July 29th, 2012 at 10:17 pm

As long as the Yankees prospect hug, they won’t get anyone via trade to upgrade the offense.

The only guys they will bring in are over-the-hill players who come cheaply, a la Jones, Ibanez, Chavez, Ichiro, etc.

God forbid he try and find a long-term solution like a Headley, Choo, or Upton. Nah, let’s just keep recycling guys in their mid-late 30s with declining bat speed, that’s the ticket.

  284. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:17 pm

Offense wake up!!! They have to work the count or get some hits and get Doubront out of this game.

  285. luis July 29th, 2012 at 10:18 pm

That would be short sighted…Nova is worth ten times Choo…He is a very good player, but not enough to warrant very good number 2, maybe ace with five years of control left

  286. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 10:18 pm

They arent trading Nova. Quality cheap pitching is harder to find than an outfielder.

“Looks like the Yankees can’t meet that asking price for Choo, eh Blake? The only player who fits that description is Nova and the Yankees won’t trade Nova for 1.5 years of Choo.”

Phelps? I wouldn’t trade Nova for Choo…..the Indians will find it hard to find a good big league player with 4+ years of control that a team will trade for 1.5 years of Choo…..obviously the player needs to be worse than Choo or why would the team do that?

  288. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 10:18 pm

    Kuroda is amazing.

    Yes I said it.

I never said he wasn’t, only that I didn’t think he’d be able to pitch in the AL East because I don’t trust NL pitchers coming to the AL. I want to remind that Kuroda was on my fantasy teams.

  322. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 10:24 pm

Here’s why I like the bunt. Unless it’s a terrible one you avoid a DP. And you move him over. Anything short of a hit keeps Ichiro on first and we have an out. Nothing productive.

  345. MoRings42 July 29th, 2012 at 10:27 pm

Jones is lazy. He’s nice as a DH and off the bench but he just doesn’t have the drive for this game anymore.

  367. GregD July 29th, 2012 at 10:31 pm

  368. Abomb82 July 29th, 2012 at 10:31 pm

Most people wanting to trade Hughes are doing so with the budget in mind. He’s another good season away from a CJ Wilson-type pay day, as a 27 yr old entering FA.

It’s no longer simply about talent with the Yankees, it is about filling needs and utilizing their personnel correctly. Not just the “sign all the players we want to whatever contract they want” way of doing business. No one is saying Phelps is better than Hughes, just that he has 4 years more of service time and is going to be very cheap while Hughes, if he tests the market, is going to get a huge payday if he keeps this up.

So can Phelps give you comparable production for a longer period of time and at a significantly cheaper rate? That is how you have to think.

  369. BA July 29th, 2012 at 10:31 pm

I can’t believe that they held Ichiro. I definitely thought they would send him there with his speed. That move will most likely cost them since Granderson will most likely strike out against the lefty now. I would have made them throw Ichiro out.

    how did Montgomery look?

  398. blake July 29th, 2012 at 10:35 pm

Great job Ichiro and Jeter…..gotta get that run in….have to

  399. ac1 July 29th, 2012 at 10:35 pm

I can’t imagine that we don’t plate more runs this inning. It just has that feel. Like when the Sux failed to bring in run #3. It felt like a real shift in momentum.

If I’m wrong I won’t have any more feelings other than that we win.

  436. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:40 pm

That’s why I would have sent Ichiro home on the Jeter hit. Girardi and the coaching staff know that the Yanks can’t situational hit or score guys from 3rd base. You have to make them throw him out at the plate. This offense is going to be terrible in the play offs.

  437. yanks 27 July 29th, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Situational hitting still alluding #Yankees. Has been zero improvement in this area all season. That’s on the players.

    Horrible approach by tex
And who here doesn’t think Crawford is getting surgery in the next ten days?

  439. jr1212 July 29th, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Phelps has been awesome this year in his role. However we dont how he will do in the rotation on a regular basis just yet. Also with the injuries to Pettite and Pineda there is not a lot of depth in the starting rotation right now. Hughes is pitching really good right now and is looking a workhorse. The Yankees have a good shot to win it all this year, no point of messing with the rotation now

  440. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 10:41 pm

F’ing Granderson can’t hit a stupid sac fly.

  441. yanks 27 July 29th, 2012 at 10:41 pm

    Absolutely stunned.

We have one of the fastest guys in baseball on 2nd and we actually get a soft hit basehit by Jeter with RISP and the 3rd base coach holds him up.

Thats the point of having speed like Ichiro on the team. THats the entire point. Speed to create runs.

  460. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:46 pm

I would be shocked if the Yanks resign Granderson. The homeruns are nice but the strikeouts and non contact is too much and his defense will start going down. On a short contract he would be nice but he is definitely going to get a 5 year deal and I can’t see the Yanks doing that.

  461. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 10:46 pm

Granderson is an effing loser. He’s HR or bust. Im sick of his crap. I dont want this guy long term. I wish we’d consider trading him to the Phillies for Lee and Pence. Or some variation that gets rid of Granderson. He is disgusting.

A good, nice guy that enjoys the game. But Im sick of him.

Watching tonight’s game it’s a reasonable question. Watching Friday night’s game it would have been a ridiculous question.

Also, we will hopefully have Swisher at full health and Arod at full health. Makes a big difference. Arod had really started to heat up and Swisher definitely knows how to make things happen.

  467. UnKnown July 29th, 2012 at 10:47 pm

One swing away now. Big bomb by Russ which looks even larger because the end of the last inning didn’t end on a positive note.

Kuroda with a very good outing. Helped out a lot tonight by the dp ball but that is all part of pitching. Getting a timely ground ball when needed.

Let’s see what happens here. 6 outs left to get 1 run. Very doable.

  468. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:48 pm

Thats why you send the fastest guy on your team home with 1 out on an actual RISP hit by Jeter.

Out or safe, its the right decision to send him. You dont leave it in the hands of 200 Strikeouts Granderson. YOu acquired Ichiro for his speed and game changing abilities. and you didnt utilize him.

  536. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 10:59 pm

I did Not realize Ellsbury had such a wash-rag arm. Mickey Rivers hadda cannon compared to Ellsbury.

  537. RadioKev July 29th, 2012 at 10:59 pm

This team is just the worst. Especially that Russ-Mart guy.

  538. luis July 29th, 2012 at 10:59 pm

    Ok…let’s get the lead

  539. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 10:59 pm

If the game stays tied I hope Girardi uses Robertson in the 9th and not Soriano. Soriano doesn’t look the same if he isn’t pitching with a lead.

  540. BA July 29th, 2012 at 10:59 pm

The stadium wants Ichiro to yank one out so badly!

  541. UnKnown July 29th, 2012 at 10:59 pm

Wow everyone aboard the Russ Bus.

    Another good Sux/Yanks game.

  556. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 11:02 pm

  558. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:02 pm

Go easy on Rivers, playing craps wears a brother out!

  559. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:02 pm

Why ESPN consistently uses that camera from behind the catcher in the 2nd deck is beyond me. You cannot judge squat when that camera is used.

  560. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:03 pm

    Hey Unknown,

It has been a very good game in deed

  561. kd July 29th, 2012 at 11:03 pm

  563. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:03 pm

  568. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

  569. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

Wow. Soriano? Is this groundhog day? Jesus

  570. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

  571. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

  572. RSM July 29th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

  573. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

    Robertson that is

  574. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

GregD. Really good. His slider was nasty. I can kind of see the comparisons to DRob except he’s got the slider instead of DRob’s CB and commands his FB a little better. He’s also small like DRob, although a little stockier and also wears #30. I’m hoping I get to see him pitch again this week.

  575. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:05 pm

    Deja vu? NOOOOOO

  576. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:05 pm

This effing loser. Why did he go to Soriano 2 straight games in the same situation???

And now Crawford is on 1st, and they wont be bunting him over. He’ll be taking 2nd immediately.

  577. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:05 pm

Ugh… That’s how big innings start

  578. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:05 pm

What about Logan or ripada? Cc can’t his lefties

  579. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:05 pm

  615. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:10 pm

  616. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:10 pm

Closer goes in at home in a tie game at the top of the 9th. On top of it, everyone should know well enough that Girardi gets guys right back on there in the same situation after they’ve failed. He shows his confidence in them. Fans have glass jaws. Managers can’t.

  635. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:15 pm

  657. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:20 pm

If the Yankees knew that Assface Aceves could provide us 1/10 of what he’s provided the Red Sox, we would have signed him to a major league deal in a heartbeat.

But he couldnt be expected to ever throw another pitch in the majors. Constant injuries, back spasms, and with the Red Sox, nothing. NO injuries along with a 96 mph fastball… all PEDs

  663. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:22 pm

Can you try to be positive or say nothing until the game is over. Then if there is reason for you to biotch, you can do it up a storm. You know I believe in positive energy, good karma, and all that stuff. Just asking as a favor – though I know your negative stuff keeps blowing up in your face.

Your call. If you’re doing a reverse nelson, keep it up. If you mean it, maybe try to hold back.

  679. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:24 pm

Wow. Hope DRob has his houdini on tonight.

  680. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:24 pm

I think Joba has a better shot at closing after Rivera retires.

  681. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:24 pm

come on DRob…..make them beat you….

  682. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:24 pm

by all means. walk the lead off hitter.

  683. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:25 pm

Robertson is unreal with these walks. He was really over throwing there….

  684. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:25 pm

    Oh great!

  685. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:25 pm

    that’s a foul ball.

  686. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:25 pm

    It hit the bat.

  687. Triple Short of a Cycle July 29th, 2012 at 11:25 pm

That was freakin funny. Like a 3 stooges gag

  688. Nick in SF July 29th, 2012 at 11:26 pm

Like picking up the spare on a 7-10 split. Nice.

  689. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:26 pm

    hit the bat

  690. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:26 pm

    It is a foul ball

  691. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:26 pm

    He was trying to bunt

  692. BA July 29th, 2012 at 11:26 pm

    Should be a foul ball

  693. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:26 pm

They better not give him 1st base. He was trying to bunt….

  694. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:26 pm

He definitely better NOT get first base.

  695. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

Baloney. He did Not pull the bat back till he got plunked

  696. Marcus July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

    He was bunting.

  697. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

He bunted at that ball. This is sick.

  698. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

Valentine sit down. He is such a clown…

  699. syd_cash July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

    its a strike move on

  700. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

    Drob is drunk tonight

  701. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

    He offered on the bunt.

  702. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

I think I saw that at Serra Bowl, Nick! Haha

  703. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:27 pm

There was some wood there, it might have hit the hand as well, but he was clearly trying to hit the ball…Middlebrooks was just trying to sell the HBP

  704. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:28 pm

    Bye Bye Bobby!!

  705. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:28 pm

    Valentine purposely got thrown out.

  706. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:28 pm

    What a pathetic jackass.

  707. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:28 pm

That’s a call a manager has to get tossed on either way…..I think they made the right call though.

  708. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:28 pm

Umpire just got drilled, and then Immediately has gotta listen to Bobby V’s Garbage.

  709. Triple Short of a Cycle July 29th, 2012 at 11:28 pm

Umps are so lame. Only sport where they have to be the center of attention

  710. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:28 pm

quick, someone go get bobby’s disguise.

  711. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:29 pm

Oh. Not the gum toss. That should be a fine…

  712. syd_cash July 29th, 2012 at 11:29 pm

Toss Adrian can’t argue balls and strikes from the duggout

  713. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:29 pm

Valentine is just trying to get his last place team fired up. It’s very obvious, move on.

  714. kd July 29th, 2012 at 11:29 pm

    agon’s about to get run

  715. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:29 pm

Does anybody have a fake mustache Bobby can borrow?

  716. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:29 pm

    are these commentators morons?

it clearly hit both the bat and his hand

is it that hard to believe that it hit both? Orel is great for some things… but he is a complete fool on others.

  717. Marcus July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

He pulled the bat back too late.

  718. BA July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

He pulled it back after it hit him

  719. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

Throw out AGon also that loser

  720. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

    “Valentine purposely got thrown out.”

No question. Maybe he’ll come back out with a moustache.

IT HIT THE BAT. YOU HEARD THE STUPID SUCKER.

ESPN can’t get over it. 2500 views of the same thing. But none of Crawford supposedly safe at first.

  721. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

The ball is over the plate. He bunts at it and gets hit over the plate. And yet these ESPN clowns are whining for a HBP

  722. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

That gum hit my eye! I’ll sue, I’ll sue!

  723. m July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

Lost in this whole Middlebrooks/Bobby V thing is that Robertson is not looking good.

Soriano threw only 8 pitches, but he did blow the game yesterday.

  724. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

looked like it clearly hit the bat first to me…..

  725. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

Now the Red Sux will go on a 20 game winning streak

  726. BA July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

Time for beers and wings for Bobby and Beckett

  727. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

    unreal!!!!!!! a base hit..

  728. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

    Omg, Drob is so low

  729. Marcus July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

    Doesn’t matter.

  730. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

    ESPN is obnoxious

  731. Triple Short of a Cycle July 29th, 2012 at 11:30 pm

terrible job by Robertson. awful to give up a hit on an 0-2 pitch

  732. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

That looked like a DP ball. Nix didn’t even move…

  733. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

    Just throw strikes please.

  734. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

and it didn’t matter…..Robertson come on man.

If it hit the bat first it doesn’t matter it it hit you

  735. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

    - BIGGEST R\SOX HOMERS -

    (1) Peter Gammons

    (2) Orel Hershiser

  736. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

Did anyone hear that loser with his baseball gods comment? Dan Shulman…

What a sickening. I wish all of these broadcasters dead.

  737. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

    In some trouble here

  738. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

Justice being served? Is this the Red Sox network? What a load!

  739. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

“Now the Red Sux will go on a 20 game winning streak”

So doubtful as to not even be considered.

  740. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

    Is Logan up?

  741. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:32 pm

If the Sox have lefties coming up I would get Logan up. A walk and 0-2 hit from Robertson, terrible job so far.

  742. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:32 pm

lead off walks are the worst thing ever.

  743. Carlo July 29th, 2012 at 11:32 pm

Robertson is not the same guy. Something lacking.

  744. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:32 pm

Change the name to ESPN to NESPN

  745. kd July 29th, 2012 at 11:32 pm

seriously, did george steinbrenner spit on orel’s kids?

he’s such a red sox homer is makes me sick

  746. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

    Need a K now

  747. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

    need a K here

  748. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

Now’s the time for DRob to put his houdini on.

  749. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

Hi yankee fans, wayward there for a while. Trish, I played a mean 3rd base at six – a long way to throw that , ” soft,” ball from way over there. Anysways,..good temps. Beat these people so that I might remain out of last :) don’t forget we all contemplate Thurman in these dog days.

  750. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

The Sox will definitely score the runner from 3rd here. I don’t think it’s even a question.

  751. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

Lead off walks kill ya.. Hopefully not
    This time

  752. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

The only justice being served is if Im allowed to enter the broadcasting booth yesterday and strangle Buck and McCarver and the enter the booth tonight and torture Hershiser and Shulman, cut off their manhood, and then suffocate them with each other’s cut off manhood.

  753. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

Agree. You walk the leadoff hitter in the 10th, your cutting your own throat.

  754. Carlo July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

    Ciriaco again. Classic.

  755. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

I have your back DRob. Do your thing!

  756. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

Curiaco batting like .800 vs the yanks. Walk him.

  757. UnKnown July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

Man the ESPN crew hated that call. Too funny.

Adrian didn’t get tossed. But Beckett did. Of course any chance or excuse he can get to head back into the clubhouse he is going to take.

  758. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

the funny thing is that Francona is the most unbiased of the bunch

  759. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

    :(

    Not that way DRob.

  760. Marcus July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

    Good lord.

  761. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

  762. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

    I am out…Good night everyone

  764. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

unreal… a cheapie.. that’s what he gets for walking saltalamacchia

  765. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

    So curt can’t be banned?

  766. Carlo July 29th, 2012 at 11:34 pm

Wow, robertson has just been garbage.

  767. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

    Padilla for the save opportunity???

    :)

  768. BA July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

Ciriaco does nothing against the rest of the league… Amazing!

  769. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

Damn Ciriaco with another lucky hit

  770. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

What a surprise. This loser scores the runner on 1 pitch.

This would be a terrible loss. Robertson has been awful since coming off the dl.

  771. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

Pedro Ciriaco won the game again. Pedro Ciriaco. Just won another game. He’s won all 3 games against us this season.

Thanks Robertson. All those Robertson fans severely overrated this chump.

  772. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

    Oh that blows!

  773. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

    Bring in a lefty.

  774. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

Amazing isn’t it. He really is.

  775. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

“that’s what he gets for walking saltalamacchia”

    ———–

    always been DRob’s problem

  776. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

It’s not really luck because if you don’t walk the lead off guy they don’t score.

  777. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

All chuckles in that booth now

  778. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 11:35 pm

    They just fxxxking suck now.
    Choking job indeed.

    Choke, pure choking

  779. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

So much for the best team in baseball. Can’t even beat a bunch of scuffling jack offs.

  780. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

Yeah lead off walks murder… But a bloop and a blast is all we need

  781. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

    Tex Cano Swish….

    far from over

  782. blake July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

lead off walks score the vast majority of the time….it’s a fact of baseball.

  783. RSM July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

That’s why you don’t walk the leadoff batter.

  784. m July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

    1 batter too late.

Can someone please hit a homerun please?

  785. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

You cant get Ciriaco out, you shouldnt win. That simple. Its always the FOX and ESPN games that cost us. We give FOX and ESPN exactly what they want.

  786. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

d-rob in a tie game seems like a losing proposition every time.

  787. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

This reminds me of the west. Last games, staying up late to see a one run loss. Ugh

  788. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:36 pm

Watch Tex, Cano and Swisher all swing for the fences for a 1-2-3 inning. There’s no way these hitters play off one another despite the fact that the fans went wild over Ichiro’s infield cheapie and Martin’s RBI single.

  789. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:37 pm

Jmills, your shrink is looking for you.

  790. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:37 pm

Robertson is a big concern, he can’t be trusted at all now. His location/command has been dreadful since coming off the dl. it seems like he is never throwing strikes and the walks are killing them.

  791. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:37 pm

Francona is the least biased of any ESPN or FOX broadcaster. Ironic..

  792. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:37 pm

Wow lots of you have given up…

  793. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:37 pm

Once again, crucial point in the game, and it comes when A-Rod woulda hit.

  794. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:37 pm

“Ciriaco does nothing against the rest of the league… Amazing!”

    Actually that’s not true.

  795. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

One final thought….ESPN sucks, they are Sux homers, no doubt…But There are certain comments that shouldn’t be said in a public blog…

  796. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

Cano will be ked, he is waaaaaaaay overrated

  797. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

At least you didn’t see it in person, Chambliss, I did

  798. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

    Theyre using Assface Aceves again?

His back problems are a thing of the past.

  799. lil m July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

At this point it will be a surprise if the Yankees win . . . a pleasant one, for sure, but a surprise. A little better performance by the offense and it wouldn’t have come to this. Let’s see if they have a rally in them.

  800. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

Okay for the crying fans if the yanks tie it up don’t cheer… I still think yanks will win

  801. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

3 guys who can hit it out

  802. Tabbert July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

Not too sure what happened to the ” beast” team we were watching for about 6 weeks, but this team is playing horrible. 0-4 vs the a’s, 1-2 against the sox. So, that equals a 1-6 record vs decent teams. Heck, they looked pretty bad against the marines too. Hopefully they break out of this and win 7 of their next 10.

  803. kd July 29th, 2012 at 11:38 pm

kinda wish padilla was pitching now

  804. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

we’ll see 3 pitchers for the Sox this inning

  805. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

There goes Tex with the uppercut.

    Cano’s turn.

  806. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Why no interference from the fans?

  807. Carlo July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Get this effing behind home plate camera the eff out of here already.

  808. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

    man

    cmon fans

you coulda interfered once it hit the stands

  809. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

    Damn.

We need a Robby jack right now.

  810. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

    Worthless fans in those seats

  811. GoldGlove9486 July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Way to not help there, fans. Yanks are in nothing but homer mode, it’s unbelievable.

  812. jacksquat July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Terrible job by the fans in foul territory.

  813. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

    Who gives a F, luis?

Valentine gets himself thrown out and they immediately win the game.
    Cano is our last chance.

  814. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Lame fans there. Free ball in the stands

  815. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Old school, thanks :) I have a thing or two to relate to that group!

  816. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Tex swinging for a homerun. What a surprise. That was a terrible pitch to swing at.

  817. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:39 pm

Way not to help out, Yankee fans.

  818. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

That fat fan is so stupid. That’s why he is fat

  819. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

if i ever see a Sox glove reach into the stands and could reach it, screw the ball, I’ll pull the glove right off his hand

  820. Nick in SF July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Robi Wan Canobi™, you’re our only hope.

  821. GoldGlove9486 July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Pretty funny how the team crashes when Cano isn’t hitting .700.

  822. Carlo July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

    Has cano made contact tonight?

  823. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

    Good AB here, Robi!

  824. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

lead off walks score the vast majority of the time….it’s a fact of baseball.
    =======

Not when you are pitching against the yankees. :(

  825. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Cano keep swinging at anything in sight….

  826. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:41 pm

    Quick pitch on Cano

  827. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 11:41 pm

    Best team my axx.
No matter what, they won’t pass the first round.

  828. Carlo July 29th, 2012 at 11:41 pm

Identical losses two nights in a row. Sweet work.

  829. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:41 pm

    game over.

  830. Tabbert July 29th, 2012 at 11:41 pm

Pretty sad that people are bashing the fans. NEWSFLASH: the fans pay to go to these games. TEX gets paid 20 million a year to produce.

  831. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:41 pm

Up to Swish. No HR swing, please.

  832. Dill Pickler July 29th, 2012 at 11:41 pm

Did anyone seriously think we were going to “walk off”? In the past two-and-a-half years, this team has exactly ONE walk-off win. Think about that. You almost have to try not to win close games to achieve that level of patheticness in the clutch.

  833. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:42 pm

Those loser fans had names on the back of their Yankees jerseys. Losers. You have the money for those seats, but you cant get a Yankees jersey without a name on the back.

Sickening. Ciriaco won them 3 games against us this year.

    This team is sickening.

  834. kd July 29th, 2012 at 11:42 pm

way to take one for the team swish

  835. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:42 pm

    Ibanez?

  836. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:42 pm

Vegas odds has it at -250 that Bobby V will take credit if the Sox hold on to win for firing up his team

  837. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:42 pm

Bloop and a blast.. Or a hit batsman and a blast either way

  838. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:42 pm

This offense really has to wake up. Homerun or nothing isn’t going to get him anywhere in the play offs.

  839. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:42 pm

Some magic from Raul would be nice here. RBI Double in the gap would be just fine.

  840. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

Could have used a Steve Bartman. C’mon Swisher! Way to take one. So Luis, Ibanez is up nervous? I am.

  841. Chambliss July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

Swish with nine inches of padding takes one off the arm… Lol

  842. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

Tabbert, it isn’t sad; it is a fans’ job to make sure that territory is enemy territory.

  843. kd July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

    tito sounds scared

  844. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

    **YAWN**

this offense is deader than arlington national cemetery

  845. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

Game isn’t over ’til it’s over.

Yanks leave well in first place no matter what. Sux lead firmly tied for last no matter what.

  846. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

Fans play a part in the game. Whether it be vocal or otherwise. That situation was otherwise.

  847. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

    it’s Morales

  848. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

    *fan’s

  849. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

This Ciriaco loser is WAY too comfortable against the Yanks. If he was on the Yanks the Sox defintiely would have hit him or threw a pitch up and in on him. It’s not even a question. The next time they have to go up and in on him.

  850. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:43 pm

can’t believe they’re staying with Aceves at 28 pitches. good for Yanks.

  851. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:44 pm

Repeat. Yanks need a middle-of-the-order stick.

  852. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:44 pm

This Red Sox team makes me sick. And ESPN shows this to make the fans think the Red Sox have such comraderie.

  853. Tabbert July 29th, 2012 at 11:44 pm

It’s the YANKEES job to win the game. IF they fans are having to help you win, you don’t deserve to win. Funny, we have the highest payroll and fans still expect other fans to help the team win? What a friggin joke. Now we are blaming the FANS for our blunders. HAHA.

  854. Curt aint worth a Schilling July 29th, 2012 at 11:45 pm

Every team does this, but ESPN focuses on that trash.

  855. BA July 29th, 2012 at 11:45 pm

Trisha it is true, more than half Ciriacos hits are vs the Yanks

  856. BD (Boston Dave) July 29th, 2012 at 11:45 pm

“Repeat. Yanks need a middle-of-the-order stick.”

    ————-

oh no. they might lose a series to the Sawx.

find the panic button for DONNYBROOK.

I think you can buy one on ebay.

  857. DONNYBROOK July 29th, 2012 at 11:45 pm

Somebody needs to show Cirriaco how to wear a cap

  858. beedogs July 29th, 2012 at 11:45 pm

shame on those fans in the stands for not getting hits with RISP.

  859. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:46 pm

Ball was just off the strike zone – a ball.

  860. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:46 pm

    close

  861. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:46 pm

    Here comes another curveball

  862. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:47 pm

    COME ON RAUL!!!!!

  863. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:47 pm

Hey good at bat here for Ibanez

  864. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:47 pm

    Keep going, Raul.

  865. Ken Phelps July 29th, 2012 at 11:48 pm

    Really good at bat

  866. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:48 pm

People get on fans for touching a ball that could have scored a runner from first. So yea we should get on them for not going after a ball they have fair game to

  867. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:48 pm

    Darn!

  868. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

    Work en Raul!

  869. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

You people obviously don’t attend baseball games at the Stadium. That’s what the fans do. It isn’t about blaming them, but never mind.

  870. JobaTipsHisCap July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

    this team is disgraceful.
    Fxxxkthem all

  871. igotid88 July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

had a feeling he should be looking for a soft pitch

  872. sunny615 July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

    Losers

  873. Captain Clutch July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

Good at bat for Ibanez. You knew that curveball was coming..

  874. BA July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

No doubt the Sux will get the 2nd wild card. Bud basically added it just for them, after last season.

It should be called the redsux spot.

  875. yankeefeminista July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

    Friggin Aceves.

  876. UnKnown July 29th, 2012 at 11:49 pm

Man Orel has to be wearing Papi jersey in the booth. That guy is one heck of a cheerleader.

He thinks Beckett is going to go on a nice pitching run now that he got thrown out of tonight’s game. LOL

Sure thing Orel, that will definitely be the reason.

  877. Bret The Hitman July 29th, 2012 at 11:50 pm

Aceves is on HgH. His head is 2x as big as it was when he was in Pinstripes. Is Youk-head contagious? Check the White Sox player’s heads…

  878. OldSchoolYankeeFan July 29th, 2012 at 11:50 pm

Oh jeeze! Make it sound like getting back to .500 is a triumph. Pathetiv

  879. Benny Blanco July 29th, 2012 at 11:50 pm

I really hate Aceves…. The yankees have lost what..3-7 in their last ten.

  880. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:50 pm

    Eh.

Okay if you feel upset, now would be the time to do so – after the final out.

It would have been nice but no big whoop. This won’t change the course of events for either team.

  881. Dill Pickler July 29th, 2012 at 11:50 pm

another clutchless yankee team heading for an early playoff exit.

  882. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:51 pm

“Oh jeeze! Make it sound like getting back to .500 is a triumph. Pathetiv”

    Absolutely.

  883. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 11:51 pm

    Trish, ” darn,”….its drat :)

  884. jmirjmir July 29th, 2012 at 11:51 pm

Guy is hitting 96 on his 34th pitch. Was almost out of baseball with a bad back. Odds that Aceves isn’t juicing out of his eyeballs? 5%? 10%?

  885. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:52 pm

“No doubt the Sux will get the 2nd wild card. Bud basically added it just for them, after last season.

It should be called the redsux spot.”

They have no prayer of it. None.

  886. luis July 29th, 2012 at 11:52 pm

F#$%#% Two tough losses in a row….I just hope that the Sux don’t get a second wind as result, I want them to stay in the bottom…I know is not a big deal, but i just hate losing to them…Kuroda did pitched very well, and so Soriano did…Lead off walks killed us though…Good night everyone

  887. jmirjmir July 29th, 2012 at 11:53 pm

I mean come on. Please someone give me an alternate explanation to how a guy at his age picks up that many mph on his fastball. Guy had two choices: retire with a bad back or get your hands on the finest pharmaceuticals. I would have posted this if Ibanez had taken him deep. I just don’t see how the guy is not juicing like crazy. Or HGH’ing. Or whatever it should be called.

  888. trisha - true pinstriped blue July 29th, 2012 at 11:53 pm

Night luis. They get nowhere without a rotation. They are nobody to fear. They had adrenaline and desperately needed to win. We didn’t have the same level of need. It happens.

    :)

  889. jmills July 29th, 2012 at 11:57 pm

Crap, you guys shave a great nuit despite the events. Best!

  890. jmirjmir July 30th, 2012 at 12:00 am

And yes, those fans were pathetic. It’s so freaking simple: ball hit into foul territory – turn your back to the field, raise your arms above your head, keep your eye on the ball, but swing your arms back and forth above your head. If you can’t do that, you’re worthless. Put your rear end up against the railing and give the fielder your back. If a guy can catch a foul ball over me doing that, more power to him.

  891. beedogs July 30th, 2012 at 12:16 am

more idiots blaming the fans for this loss.

brilliant. lot of rocket scientists here tonight.
