No that’s cool Joe – play 4 guys out of position…that works.

    McGehee
    Swisher
    Ichiro
    Jones

plus Nix at one of his weaker positions….

    Chip
Complaining about the line-up did not take long.
What else is new around here?

There are reasons for a line-up like this that the fans are not aware of.

I’m sure there are – probably the fact that they have a day game tomorrow and such…doesn’t mean I have to like it :-)

So you were right about Tex then, Chip. Is he likely to miss more than one game do we know?

  5. Nick in SF August 17th, 2012 at 3:50 pm

Swisher plays first if Tex is out of the lineup. It all flows from there.

  6. mick August 17th, 2012 at 3:50 pm

at least they have ichi and jete back to back

  7. Hassey August 17th, 2012 at 3:52 pm

forget for a second about the actual order in which they’re hitting…just looking at the actual components of the lineup

what would you guess is the record for “most different lineups out of 162 games” among WS winning teams?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to leave Swish in RF go with McGehee at 1b, Nix at 3b, Ichiro in LF, Jones at DH?

    No.

    Tex is hurt ?

  11. Villa Nova-Ya August 17th, 2012 at 3:55 pm

Who would play SS? Jete’s got a DH day.

His wrist is bothering him again.

Doesn’t help that we seem to have someone different injured every day…or that we’re facing a lefty so we don’t have the option of filling in with Chavez or Ibanez.

Hard to believe it’s Yanks vs. Sox tonight with no A-Rod, no Tex, no Ortiz, no Youk and half the supporting cast missing.

  14. Warning Track Power August 17th, 2012 at 4:05 pm

Tex and that wrist injury concerns me a lot. Does the wrist bother him more from the right
side or left side? I have not heard anything, so I’m curious.
Yankees need Tex in the line-up. That wrist needs to heal sooner versus later for the benefit of the team.

Iirc, the big complaint here throughout the 2009 season was the record number of different lineups.

Let’s hope our role players step up avaunt Boston’s role players.

It helps to know what positions players have played.

    McGehee 391 games at 3B (90 at 1B)

Jones 215 games in RF (99 in LF)

    Swisher 273 games at 1B

And Ichiro can play any OF position, and is where he should be when Granderson is in CF, the big LF in YS.

Yea, and we all know how bad that turned out ;)

a sweep this weekend would send the boston media into full panic

i’d love the see dan shaunnesy flip out. what could he possible complain about now? not the money, not the ‘curse.’ maybe just how he worshiped theo, who turned out to be a crappy gm
