    River Ave. Blues?@RiverAveBlues

The Yanks will have to clear spots for Feliciano and Pettitte eventually. Justin Thomas sure to go. Not sure who else.
    _______________

Warren, Laird or Pena would be my guess.
I dont see them risking it with Mesa, Almonte or Betances

  2. Ys Guy August 22nd, 2012 at 5:20 pm

didnt they dfa pena once already? he’s gotta be the guy.

  3. kd August 22nd, 2012 at 5:24 pm

this team needs arod back. he’s not what he once was, but he still stabilizes the lineup

  4. waldo geraldo faldo August 22nd, 2012 at 5:24 pm

Pena has already been DFA’d and released. He signed on with the New Jersey Little League World Series team and is currently riding the bench for them.

  5. Jerkface August 22nd, 2012 at 5:25 pm

Warren, Laird or Pena would be my guess.

They aren’t going to DFA Laird or Warren.

    Ramon Ortiz…come on down !!! :-)

  7. Ys Guy August 22nd, 2012 at 5:27 pm

the met’s have decided that since they have only hit 47 HR at home this year after moving in the fences they are going to do it again. the new dimensions, just over 120′ down the lines, 140 to ‘deepest CF will also save them aproximately $50M because they wont have to sign actual major league outfielders as they currently have none on their roster.

  8. blake August 22nd, 2012 at 5:28 pm

Mcgehee probably is an option….he doesnt have a role when Alex comes back and hes not very good

  9. Warning Track Power August 22nd, 2012 at 5:28 pm

The possibilities are endless with who do place on the DL, what day to do that, who to call up from the minors, release, etc….
I don’t even want to think about it

  10. blake August 22nd, 2012 at 5:31 pm

Joba would have to approve a demotion to AAA says Curry because of his service time.

  11. blake August 22nd, 2012 at 5:33 pm

Also apparently girardi said that CCs injury was more his tricep than elbow…which is good

  12. MTU August 22nd, 2012 at 5:34 pm

    blake-

Joba isn’t a position to refuse even though he has the right.

  13. Nick in SF August 22nd, 2012 at 5:35 pm

” At least they didnt trade Montero for him”

    Oh.

  14. blake August 22nd, 2012 at 5:35 pm

    MTU,

I doubt he would….just saying he can.

  15. Warning Track Power August 22nd, 2012 at 5:36 pm

Joba is not going anywhere. He needs more time, more innings to be effective out there.

    DL Nova=Activate C.C.

Both ARod and Pettitte will return in Sept. No roster move needed

  16. Ys Guy August 22nd, 2012 at 5:40 pm

trenton is up 4.5 games with 12 to play.

scranton/wilkes barre/moosic/batavia/rochester/empire state (of new york and pennsylvania) is up bit 5 with 12 games left.

so we’re basically in for the PS in both the IL and the EL, which is good for Andy’s chance to get in at least 1 rehab.

  17. bruceb August 22nd, 2012 at 5:41 pm

Listening to Terry Collins and Sandy Alderson on the Francesa Show has depressed me so much I don’t think I can watch baseball tonight. The Mets were one of the stories of the first half of the season but as recent history suggested, they have – as usual – turned into the Bad News Bears.

  18. Yankee Trader August 22nd, 2012 at 5:50 pm

    Good afternoon.

I leave earlier this morning and come back to a “shelved” Nova and a Testosterone suspension for Colon.

Is Phelps now getting the chance to start?

I thought Colon’s huge success was due to platelet rich plasma injections and stem cell therapy on his right shoulder. Now the treatment was sullied by the use of testosterone.

Edinson Volquez on waivers-He’ll probably be pulled back when claimed long before an AL team has a chance to put in a claim.

I guess we are going to finally see 39 yo Ramon Ortiz.

  19. Yankee Trader August 22nd, 2012 at 5:51 pm

    Or lefty Randy Wolf?

  20. Ys Guy August 22nd, 2012 at 5:53 pm

ortiz? phelps just stays in the rotation while cc comes back and nova goes dl. if someone else has to miss a start, derek lowe was a starter all season till he was released.

  21. Ys Guy August 22nd, 2012 at 5:55 pm

i never fell for that crap about bart. i was pretty damn sure he was on something illegal the whole time.

  22. Ys Guy August 22nd, 2012 at 5:58 pm

yankees also have a day off tomorrow and another one next thursday. 7 days after that nova will be eligible to come off the dl. so they could almost get away with 4 starters till he comes back although there is no need to.

  23. mick August 22nd, 2012 at 6:00 pm

The way Girardi gave Mike the news on NOva was priceless.
Oh, by the way, Nova had a shoulder grab last night said Joe on his way out the door.
So as not to elaborate, I guess…

Sounds like a kitchen knife incident to me.

Whatever, nobody’s feelings get hurt and Phelps is in the rotation and nobody has to go down.
    Reset the ro to CC-Kuroda-Phelps-Hughes-Garcia.

  25. mick August 22nd, 2012 at 6:04 pm

Kuroda will go on 5 days rest his next 2 starts unless he goes on turn Friday.
Hope it doesn’t upset his rhythm like it did CC last year.

  28. austinmac August 22nd, 2012 at 6:07 pm

I don’t think Nova is heading to get examined for a fake injury. Let’s hope it is fatigue from along season and all that is required is rest.

  29. blake August 22nd, 2012 at 6:07 pm

Skip Bayless is a waste of oxygen…..one of my favorite moments of the year is when Cuban just owned him and made him look stupid.

  30. theREALkevin August 22nd, 2012 at 6:09 pm

PEDs of any type should warrant an entire season suspension the first time, then banned for life the second time. There is no place in baseball for steroids or PEDs of any kind. Guys can put up huge numbers without them, bring excitement to the game, be big stars and they don’t need extra help. The are out there. PEDs equate to cheating and it’s wrong. Period.

The good thing is with these positive tests this year, it’s going to scare more guys. The more people they keep catching the more guys are going to stop. I hope it works, until the point where zero impact guys are doing it. Anyone condoning it, or even encouraging it, that’s sad. You call yourself a baseball fan but are OK with it or are even supporting it? They are black eyes for the game, it makes baseball look bad, it’s negative attention. If you are truly a baseball fan you would be against PEDs, at least while they are not allowed anyways.

  31. blake August 22nd, 2012 at 6:09 pm

I wouldn’t say Nova’s injury is fake…..but is it possible its something that wouldnt be mentioned if he were pitching well……perhaps? I hope thats the case and it ls nothing serious

  32. mick August 22nd, 2012 at 6:11 pm

What PEDs have done is cheapen the numbers of the game.
The numbers are part of the folklore and they have video gamed them.

  33. Warning Track Power August 22nd, 2012 at 6:12 pm

I dislike Bayless with a passion. The man has no stance, except to take a stand that is the most
    controversial

  35. mick August 22nd, 2012 at 6:14 pm

Fake or not, kitchen accident or not…it serves its purpose.
Phelps gets his shot as he should.
People scoff but he can be a major factor in the playoffs, as a starter.
He needs to show his stuff thru Sept. and he could be the 4th starter, at least.
    And not by default.

  36. yankeefeminista August 22nd, 2012 at 6:14 pm

  38. theREALkevin August 22nd, 2012 at 6:15 pm

One more thing: Bartolo Colon was robbing a roster spot from someone else probably much younger and probably clean. There’s a high chance that if Colon wasn’t on PEDs, he wouldn’t even be in baseball this year. It’s disgusting and I couldn’t be happier he was found out.

  41. Yogi Mantle August 22nd, 2012 at 6:23 pm

The lastest wave of PED’s isn’t steroids, it is using testosterone suplements. That is what Melky and Colon were busted on. It is also what Braun had show up on his results. Synthetic testosterone cycles through the body faster, making it a little easier to not be caught unless you are one of the users unlucky enough to be tested right after using.

Braun, as it was reported, had a highly elevated level of testosterone, which then prompted them to look into the type of testosterone. In Braun’s case it was known to be synthetic. That isn’t accidental, no matter how it gets stored, it isn’t something that will magicially appear after a couple of days in the refridgerator.

One of the worst things to happen was Braun getting off.

Testosterone is the newest PED being used in sports. I think we are going to see some other players getting busted on this.

Girardi said Sabathia is good to start Friday. Phelps available out of the pen, likely choice to replace Nova next turn in rotation. — Sweeny Murti (@YankeesWFAN)

  56. UnKnown August 22nd, 2012 at 6:37 pm

They can still use Phelps out of the pen tonight if needed. They don’t definitely need him until Tuesday of next week to make a start.

    CC Fri
    Kurorda Sat
    Garcia Sun
    Hughes Mon
    PHELPS Tues

    ———

Skip asks why Jeter wouldn’t at least think of using steriods. How about his legacy, Skip you idiot.

I still can’t really believe ESPN still employs him. I mean nobody watches Skip and Stephen A in the mornings anymore do they?

  57. yankeefeminista August 22nd, 2012 at 6:37 pm

  58. mick August 22nd, 2012 at 6:39 pm

    Kuroda

    CC Fri
    Kurorda Sat
    Garcia Sun
    Hughes Mon
    PHELPS Tues

This makes sense as they can slot Andy into Garcia’s spot on return and not insult Phil by putting Phelps ahead of him.

Warren is not as good as garcia in the rotation, and has no business being in the rotation.

    Rotation should be

    cc
    kuroda
    hughes
    garcia
    phelps

    Nova should be sent down.
He’s not as good as anybody.
