Sabathia returns and delivers

Activated from the disabled list, Yankees ace CC Sabathia was his old self tonight in Cleveland. The big lefty struck out nine through 7.1 dominant innings, beating the Indians 3-1 and ending the Yankees three-game losing streak. Nick Swisher’s two-run homer in the seventh stood as the game winner and Sabathia picked up his team-leading 13th win of the season. Of course, the moment to remember might have been the second-inning hit by pitch, when Derek Jeter was hit in the helmet by Indians rookie Corey Kluber. Sabathia tried to retaliate in the fourth only to throw behind Asdrubal Cabrera and give up a game-tying solo homer on the next pitch. It was the Indians only run. Swisher had three hits in the game. Jeter had two hits and scored twice.
