The Yankees are alone atop the division again. The offense showed some fight, the bullpen held onto the lead and a 6-4 win against the Rays broke a tie in the American League East. The second-place Orioles lost, giving the Yankees a one-game lead heading into a pivotal four-game series in Baltimore. Russell Martin hit a go-ahead double in the fourth inning, and a go-ahead home run in the sixth, but the Yankees didn’t take the lead for good until Elliot Johnson’s two-run throwing error in the seventh. Derek Jeter had three hits and Hiroki Kuroda got his 13th win despite a so-so start. Boone Logan, Dave Robertson and Rafael Soriano handled the relief work to snap a three-game losing streak.
