Stunning. The Yankees were beaten at their own game tonight in Baltimore, where a 10-6 loss to the Orioles dumped the Yankees back into a first-place tie in the division. The Orioles won by pitching well — except for one inning — and hitting home runs, including three of them to break a tie in the bottom of the eighth. The Yankees had rallied in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs with two outs to tie the game, but the Orioles regained the lead on Adam Jones’ solo home run off Dave Robertson in the bottom of the inning. Mark Reynolds then hit his second homer of the night — his eighth home run in his past seven games — and Chris Davis added a solo shot off Boone Logan. Rookie starter David Phelps allowed four runs in the first inning, three of them coming on a Matt Wieters homer. Robert Andino and Reynolds would later go deep off Phelps as the Orioles built an early lead.
