TIME/TV: 1:35 p.m., YES Network and TBS

WEATHER: It’s cooled down quite a bit, which is a relief for a day game.

UMPIRES: HP Jerry Meals, 1B Mike Winters, 2B Mark Wegner, 3B Cory Blaser

JETER KEEPS DOING IT: Derek Jeter leads the Majors with 189 hits, 15 more than any other player. He is tied for the MLB lead with Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera with 57 multi-hit games (had 45 in 2011). Jeter collected his 18th game of at least three hits last night, tied with Cabrera and Joe Mauer for most in the Majors in 2012, and his highest total since 2009.

HEALTHY A-ROD: Alex Rodriguez has homered in back-to-back games for the second time this season (he did it once last season). Since coming off the DL, Rodriguez is hitting .304 with five runs, two doubles, two homers and six RBI in six games.

IN THE END: The Yankees are 27-17 in series finales and have won 12 of thier last 15 road finales.

UPDATE, 1:48 p.m.: Two-out RBI single by Cano has the Yankees in front. Gotta actually hold the lead, this time.

UPDATE, 2:36 p.m.: Three straight walks for Britton, including Pearce with the bases loaded. Of course, that string of walks ended with a Jones strikeout,. It’s now a 2-0 Yankees lead.

UPDATE, 2:46 p.m.: Another bases-loaded walk for Britton, and he’s finished. The Orioles are going to the bullpen with one out and the bases loaded in the fourth. The Yankees have built a 5-0 advantage.

UPDATE, 3:02 p.m.: Garcia breezed throughh the first three innings, but now he’s walked a batter, hit a batter and allowed a two-run double in the fourth.

UPDATE, 3:05 p.m.: Quick hook from Girardi, who’s going to Chamberlain with one out here in the fourth. Garcia’s game seemed to be unraveling quickly, and Girardi’s not taking any chances. Wonder if we’ll see Nova after this. This would seem to be exactly the situation to use him, no?

UPDATE, 3:12 p.m.: Two strikeouts for Chamberlain. Finally some positive steps for him and a 5-3 lead for the Yankees.

UPDATE, 3:34 p.m.: Sharp inning and two-thirds from Chamberlain, now Granderson has come off the bench with a pinch hit home run and it’s a 6-3 Yankees lead.

UPDATE, 4:26 p.m.: Two-run homer by Jeter for a 10-3 lead. Blow this one, and it will be the absolute low point of the season.
