Gardner starting to hit

Brett Gardner started a hitting program today. He has not swung a bat since his elbow surgery, but he has been taking fly balls for about two weeks and could be activated any day now.

Gardner said he has not been activated yet, but he has been told he might be used as a pinch runner and defensive replacement these last two weeks. It seems doubtful he will progress far enough to be allowed to hit this season.

By the way, there is still no lineup posted and no word on whether this game will actually happen. A lot of rain coming.
