Ichiro sends Yankees to doubleheader sweep

Ichiro Suzuki might have earned a few more at-bats against left-handers. In the second game of today’s doubleheader, Ichiro had four hits — all against lefties — including the game-winner in a 2-1 Yankees win against the Blue Jays. Ichiro has struggled against left-handers this season, but his two-out, eighth-inning single off lefty reliever Aaron Loup scored Curtis Granderson, broke a one-run tie and sent the Yankees to a doubleheader sweep. Ichiro finished with seven hits for the day. He also stole four bases in the second game. Rookie starter David Phelps left to a standing ovation having allowed one run through 6.2 innings. Boone Logan relieved him and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh. Logan, Cody Eppley and Rafael Soriano combined for 2.1 scoreless innings of relief. Soriano got his second save of the day.
